Billionaire's Unforgettable Ex-Wife
Chapter 573 - 281 She Will Do Anything to Get Kay Forrest
CHAPTER 573: CHAPTER 281 SHE WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET KAY FORREST
From Evie’s tone, it sounded like she wasn’t angry with me.
I had thought for sure this would end in a blowout.
But now, it feels like there’s still room for negotiation.
"Oh Evie, I really didn’t mean it.
If there’s a chance to make it up to you, I’d definitely want to do so."
Evie sneered, "Then help me out with something.
How is your relationship with Kay’s secretary, Wendy?"
"Wendy is a pretty cold person. Hardly anyone in the assistant office can get along with her. Why are you asking me about her?"
"Isn’t Wendy Kay’s personal assistant? During work hours, the only one who can say good things about me in front of Kay is Wendy.
So, I want to invite Wendy to dinner, but under your name.
Because I noticed Wendy seems to have feelings for Kay. If I were the one inviting her, she definitely wouldn’t agree."
Evelyn immediately responded, "Leave this little matter to me, no problem at all."
"But Evelyn, listen carefully now. If you spill the beans about this again, I really won’t forgive you.
I assume you wouldn’t want others to know you betrayed a friend just for money, right?"
After hearing this, Evelyn awkwardly rubbed her nose, "I got it, I got it. Don’t worry, I’ll handle it, okay?"
After hanging up the phone, Evie’s lips curled into a smile.
Jane must think she’s out of options now.
What a pity—she’s never been the type to give up easily.
What she wants to do, no one can stop her.
She’s determined to win Kay Forrest, no matter the cost.
When Kay arrived home, Jane was cooking, and the dish hadn’t been plated yet.
He walked into the kitchen and kissed her cheek. "Smells amazing."
"Why are you home early today?"
"Do you think I work overtime every day? I’m an efficient heir, thank you very much."
Jane smirked and didn’t bother calling him out on his bluff.
"I’m going to change clothes."
After Kay went into the bedroom, his phone rang again.
He pulled out his phone and glanced at it. Seeing it was Faye Townsend, he picked up the call. "Hey, troublesome girl, what’s up?"
"Can you stop calling me ’troublesome’? I hate it."
"Fine, what do you want?"
"Come out for a bit, bring Jane along too."
"We were planning a candlelight dinner, but you called too late." Kay casually tossed his jacket onto the bed.
"I need to talk to you about something."
"Where?"
"Your West Asia Club. You’re treating," Faye said with a light laugh.
Kay rolled his eyes, "Hunter Warren must be overjoyed to have married a woman as calculating as you.
You’re the one who wants something from me, yet I still have to foot the bill. What kind of life is this?"
Faye was amused by his complaint.
After hanging up, Kay grabbed a coat and walked to the kitchen doorway. "Jane, stop cooking. We’re eating out tonight."
"What? It’s almost ready."
Kay raised his phone. "Faye invited us out for something."
Jane sighed, off to see his big friends again.
He ruffled her hair and pulled her out of the kitchen. "Be good, go change."
Half an hour later, they arrived at the West Asia Club.
As they approached a private room door, Kay could hear Lily Snow’s voice inside.
He frowned and whispered to Jane, "Do you hear any weird noises?"
"What weird noises? I only hear Lily’s voice."
"Her voice *is* the weird noise. Isn’t it coming from a weird woman?"
Jane smiled speechlessly. This guy—she thought he feared no one.
Turns out he’s actually afraid of Lily Snow. That’s unexpected.
He pushed open the door and saw the room was quite lively.
Hunter Warren, Faye Townsend, Sean Lennox, Clara, Oliver Turner, and Lily Snow were all there.
As he brought Jane in, the group nearly had enough people to fill two mahjong tables.
"Hey, why are you two so late? Drinks as punishment!"
As soon as the couple entered, Lily got up and demanded they be penalized with drinks.
Kay knocked her lightly on the head. "And who are you to punish us? Buzz off."
He pulled Jane down to sit.
Lily moved closer to Kay. "You’re always so stubborn whenever you see me. I never even offended you."
"Do I need a reason to find you annoying?"
Faye lightly smacked Kay’s shoulder. "Anyone listening would think you’ve really got a vendetta against Lily. Please, tone it down, will you?"
Faye turned to Jane. "Hi Jane, it’s been ages."
"Yeah, Faye, it really has been."
Kay slid his arm around Jane’s shoulder. "My Jane had dinner ready, but you dragged us out.
So, tell us. You said it was important—what is it?"
Faye chuckled and leaned in toward the couple. "Actually, this isn’t about me. It’s about Clara. Clara is pregnant.
Sean Lennox is so thrilled that he invited everyone out to celebrate."
"Really? That’s wonderful news!"
Kay raised his glass and walked over to Clara and Sean. "Congrats, you two. Soon to be parents—must be an incredible feeling."
Clara blushed as she accepted the toast, while Sean couldn’t hide the grin on his face. "Absolutely thrilled. When I first found out, I was overwhelmed.
It felt like pure bliss. This kind of happiness—you’ll understand when you become a father someday."
"Been there, done that. I already have three kids."
Kay’s comment made Jane freeze for a moment as she looked at his back. Three kids?
While Jane was still in a panic, Kay clarified, "Faye’s kids, Darnley and Miya, grew up under my watch.
You can ask them who their favorite dad is."
Hunter didn’t hesitate at all. "Of course, it’s me."
Kay shot him a glance. "When they were little, they didn’t even know who Hunter Warren was."
Hunter glared back, annoyed. This guy really talks in the most infuriating way.
Kay ignored him and went back to drinking with Sean.
Oliver Turner asked Hunter, "I heard Lucas Warren set up a subsidiary of the Warren Group overseas?"
"You’re well-informed. That was last month’s news. It hasn’t even surfaced in Eldoria yet."
Hearing Lucas’s name, Kay returned to Faye’s side to listen to Hunter’s conversation with Oliver.
Faye still seemed uncomfortable in this kind of social setting. She’d probably need a few more of these gatherings to get used to it.
"So, what’s your take? Do you think Lucas is done stirring up trouble back here?" Kay looked at Faye. "Don’t let yourself heal and forget the pain."
"No, it’s all settled. The decision to let him establish a subsidiary was something Hunter and I discussed.
To be honest... over the years, Lucas has faced his fair share of hardships abroad.
At the very least, the Warren Family hasn’t treated him fairly.
Hunter and I thought it through—we’re family, after all, and we should stand united.
We invited him to return to Eldoria, but he didn’t want to.
We don’t know much about his current life. He said he’s been seeing a girl recently.
She’s much younger, and it seems like he’s rediscovered the passion of his youth."
Kay raised an eyebrow at her explanation. "So, the trend is old bulls chasing young calves now?"
Lily pouted. "Aren’t you yourself an old bull chasing a young calf?"
"I’m willing, so what? Is it any of your business?
Focus on whether your own Oliver has got his act together, instead of worrying about me.
With your condition, you probably can’t catch up to him anyway."
"Really? You foul-mouthed jerk. You’re the one who’s unwell. I’m perfectly fine."
"Look at yourself. Don’t you realize being ugly is also an illness? Otherwise, why would plastic surgery clinics call themselves clinics? You’ve got terminal ugly disease."
Oliver shot Kay a glance. "There’s a limit to joking around."
"Oh, you’re offended now? Then why don’t you go ahead and make it official with her?"
Kay tightened his arm around Jane as Jane elbowed him lightly.
This guy—he flirts so recklessly, even when he’s joking.
Looking at Lily’s pitiful gaze toward Oliver, while Oliver himself appeared rather embarrassed.
Seeing his silence, Lily stood up. "Forget it, I’m not going to stay here and sit around. I need to go home and rest."
Oliver grabbed her wrist, his face calm. "Four couples are sitting here. If you leave, won’t I be the only one alone? If you’re going, let’s go together."
Lily froze for a moment... Couple? Was she his partner?
Kay smirked knowingly, while Jane suddenly understood his plan and watched him with admiration—it seemed she had underestimated him.
Everyone else finally caught on—the only thing standing between Oliver and Lily was this final push.
Kay Forrest truly had a knack for the right timing; his provocations hit perfectly.
