CHAPTER 38: CHAPTER 33: THREE RELICS

Inside a special closed room.

As the efficient short-haired woman turned on the lights, Shawn immediately saw three sealed black boxes, with a Night Watcher guarding them nearby.

Some Extraordinary Relics have pollution; even if they are remnants of deceased bizarre creatures, many of them are still living entities.

As the short-haired woman raised her hand, the staff beside her opened the three black boxes one by one.

"Mr. Shawn."

"Since not many Extraordinary Relics related to the Wizard Path are available here."

"We have prepared these three for you."

The short-haired woman turned her head and said, "You can choose one from them."

The first black box opened.

Inside was a peculiar eyeball, its surface covered with blood veins, whose origin from which bizarre creature was unknown.

The others seemed to have no intention of introducing it, as if letting him choose for himself.

——Identification Skill.

Shawn mobilized the mysterious knowledge within him, as the flow of knowledge in his brain emerged. Upon touching the bizarre eyeball, the Primitive Magic Power seemed to tremble slightly, vibrating for a second, then gradually calming down.

——"Eyeball of the Heart-Spying Monster, a slightly valuable Extraordinary Relic; knowledge discovered the Spell of Thought Detection."

The knowledge felt a bit proud.

Wizards fuse Extraordinary Relics differently from other Extraordinary Paths; they’ve always been major consumers of Extraordinary Relics.

This peculiar eyeball in front of him could serve as a promotion material for a transcendent, but for a wizard, it can only be decomposed through mysterious knowledge. Ultimately, mysterious knowledge deciphers its bizarre power to obtain a new spell.

The core relics for promotion in other Extraordinary Paths would become an additional new spell in the hands of a wizard.

Shawn recognized this spell.

Because when he first crossed over, the doll-like girl used Thought Detection on him.

Rank 2.

Shawn already possessed level 1 Detect Emotions, so the value of this spell wasn’t significant.

The second black box opened.

Inside was a severed cable, somewhat like those used on a sailing ship, seemingly not like an Extraordinary Relic but like something unearthed from a pile of trash.

Shawn furrowed his brow and tried to identify it using knowledge.

——"Hand of the Strangulation Demon, a slightly valuable Extraordinary Relic; knowledge discovered the Spell of Magic Rope."

The knowledge felt slightly arrogant.

For it informed Shawn further that it’s a peculiar spell which can turn any rope into a living entity.

But what’s its use?

For practicing Turtle Shell Binding?

Shawn possesses an Invisible Hand, capable of maneuvering enemies into eighteen different postures later, making ’Magic Rope’ unnecessary due to its weak power.

Furthermore, merging a new spell might slightly increase self-mental pollution for a wizard.

This can definitely be disregarded.

The last black box opened.

Shawn saw a bunch of squirming flesh and blood tentacles, resembling living creatures, somewhat like maggots but with some suckers on the surface, probably severed from some monster.

A bit disgusting.

This is the ’Flesh of Aberration’, a core promotion relic for the combat path, one of three elements, which is more valuable than the previous two.

Yet, many of these flesh abberations don’t have spells a wizard can decompose.

Does this Extraordinary Relic differ?

Shawn attempted identification.

This time, the knowledge seemed a bit weary, flowing within the bizarre tentacles for a long time, only then slowly providing some answers.

——"Root of Touch of Flesh and Blood, a very rare Extraordinary Relic."

The knowledge paused.

The knowledge is striving.

——"Knowledge discovered the Spell of Damage Transfer."

More information was transmitted to the brain.

The knowledge went all out!

Indeed.

At this moment Shawn felt a bit moved.

——"Damage Transfer, a Rank 2 spell, applicable to the Necromancy Sequence, Deceit Sequence, Flesh and Blood Sequence." (These pathway sequences can obtain this ability.)

——"The caster can transfer injuries they have sustained to other parts of their body, affecting only themselves, not other targets. Lethal injuries cannot be transferred, nor can lost life force be restored. Transferred injuries still require treatment."

The knowledge silently informs you.

——"Touch of Flesh and Blood can transfer the injuries it sustains to other parts. A very difficult to deal with evil object."

Benjamin’s ability?

Shawn’s gaze slightly focused, wizards can master most other transcendent’s distinctive abilities, making them part of their own power in the form of bizarre spells.

However, this also calls for consuming extensive resources.

Any pathway involving casters ascending is a bit more challenging than other Extraordinary Paths.

Shawn can only use knowledge to digest its special ability, unable to acquire other forces from the Extraordinary Relic. Thus after fusion, he won’t drastically enhance his physical qualities, nor suffer severe flesh pollution.

"Benjamin can also transfer other people’s injuries."

"Even use it to deal a fatal blow to an enemy!"

Shawn mentally remarked, "He probably digested a higher sequence Extraordinary Relic."

The wizard path nearly approaches omnipotence.

But the number of wizards making it to the last stage is rare, and the preliminary accumulation of knowledge can eliminate many people. Shawn benefited from the education received in his previous life on Earth, because the knowledge from Earth aids him in recognizing the world, naturally aiding his quick ascension.

Shortly.

Shawn made his decision and said gravely, "I choose this one."

Three Extraordinary Relics.

It’s evident that the last one holds more value; his current core spells are primarily life-preserving abilities, slightly lacking in strength-enhancing spells.

Nevertheless, there are firearms in this world.

For the time being, Shawn can rely on firearms for self-defense; later, he undoubtedly needs to find ways to acquire direct combat spells.

Provided resources are ample; most transcendent abilities have a corresponding peculiar spell which can be converted into wizard abilities.

Of course!

Practically using it, Shawn isn’t as strong as Benjamin.

Benjamin’s physical qualities surpass Shawn significantly, in real combat Benjamin’s combat proficiency in executing this ability is fluid, while Shawn, as a transcendent on the wizard path, facing the enemy closely is incredibly challenging.

Unless he can flash directly to touch, otherwise he’s dead before getting near the enemy.

"Presently, this spell can only be used for self-preservation."

Shawn can transfer severe injuries he sustains to less serious areas unless it’s like Benjamin’s encounter with a Ghost-faced Assassin, where his heart was directly pierced, resulting in instant death. Shawn can always find a way to save himself.

"This ability is more potent in transcendent battle paths."

Promptly.

The short-haired woman beside him closed the black box and handed it to Shawn, saying, "If there is nothing further."

"Would you like to undergo a psychological evaluation by the way?"

"To prevent mental pollution."

Shawn contemplated briefly, then nodded in agreement, "Okay."

The process wasn’t cumbersome.

Similar to psychological counseling from his previous life, the result indicated ’moderate anxiety’, other aspects were fairly good with no apparent negative emotions.

"I recommend you to relax your mood appropriately."

Ivan advised, "Engage in some leisure and entertainment activities."

Everything is normal.

Due to the high-pressure nature of the occupation, both Investigators and Night Watchers experience varying degrees of anxiety, Shawn is only slightly anxious.

He has always sought to rapidly possess self-defense capabilities.

Investigator’s salary is decent, materially richer than ordinary people, with funds for regular travels.

Every Investigator has their own way of alleviating pressure differently.
