Bizarre Realm
Chapter 40 - 35: Departure
CHAPTER 40: CHAPTER 35: DEPARTURE
The rich lady didn’t show up, but Daisy came over the next day.
She brought Shawn some flavorful pancakes, which were delicious. The pancakes were filled with various ingredients, including ham, beef, onions, topped with tomato sauce, garnished with olive shreds, and bits of egg.
"The cuisine of the Dorne Kingdom is indeed very Italian."
Shawn poured Daisy a glass of milk. She didn’t like tea. The milk is delivered regularly, and there’s a storage cabinet on the first floor where residents can take it; Benjamin probably ordered it in advance.
Sometimes, Daisy drinks milk like a little cat licking it, but only when no one is watching.
"The captain said."
After finishing the milk, Daisy raised her head seriously and said, "Your vacation is almost over."
"Someone notified you to return the day after tomorrow."
"By then, he’ll come to pick you up."
Is it ending so soon?
Indeed.
The crazy buff on Shawn had already been removed in advance by Lady Hecate.
After staying in the real world for these days, Shawn really felt that this place was more suitable for him to live in; the Bizarre Realm was too oppressive and desperate.
However, it seems he can’t stay in the Bizarre Realm for too long.
Even a soul with stronger talent from the Otherworld can only stay in the Bizarre Realm for about three months; exceeding this time will result in being gradually contaminated by madness. To stay in the Bizarre Realm long-term, one must be a high-sequence transcendent at least.
Ordinary people entering the Bizarre Realm will gradually go mad after just a day or two.
Shawn nodded silently and said, "I understand."
Daisy, with wide eyes, curiously stared at Shawn in front of her, like a little cat full of question marks. She whispered, "You’re from another realm, aren’t you?"
Shawn was taken aback by the words, not knowing how to respond.
Because the Butcher had warned him not to reveal anything about the Bizarre Realm.
"It’s okay if you can’t say," Daisy blinked and said with a smile, "Actually, I wasn’t born in the real world either."
"But there aren’t so many taboos there."
"The Great Sage is very powerful!"
Speaking of which, Daisy wore a look of admiration and said, "He is the protector of all forests and the Dream Realm."
Daisy’s curiosity was very strong.
She might have guessed that Shawn was from the Bizarre Realm, but she also knew how to be considerate; she wouldn’t continue asking if Shawn was unwilling to speak.
"I’m leaving."
Daisy put down the cup, waved at Shawn, and said, "There’s a big class at school today. If I keep skipping, I won’t be able to graduate smoothly."
She is an international student from the Del Region.
Currently, she works in an internship position within the Night Watchers, which is slightly different from Ben and William, she’s more like playing the role, probably sent by the Sages on the Path of Nature for some experience.
Shawn watched Daisy’s figure leave, suspecting that her identity was likely unusual.
Nature and Death.
The twelve mythical paths.
The miracle of humanity, the Clockwork Nirvana Twelve Realms.
Zodiac.
Scorpio.
Shawn found that in the Bizarre Realm, the number 12 seemed very special; the Butcher’s words back then had a certain inexplicable tone when mentioning 12.
"The twelve zodiac signs?"
Shawn’s mind wandered slightly, muttering, "Twelve mythical paths."
"Wait."
He suddenly seemed to connect something.
With his eyes focusing, Shawn quickly began jotting down notes, doodling on a blank piece of paper, mumbling, "The twelve Olympian gods!?"
"No!"
"It’s not like that!"
"The Divine Spirits of this world are not as I perceived, and Lady Hecate never claimed to be a god either."
Shawn slipped into deep thought; after a while, he slowly said, "This likely has nothing to do with the twelve Olympian gods; 12 represents twelve divine-level world laws!"
"A part of destiny reclaimed by humankind?"
"Or some other unknown meaning?"
If they are the twelve main gods, would Lady Hecate’s existence be one of them?
Shawn currently had no answer.
However, he felt as if his primitive magic power trembled slightly within him, the speed of digesting the extraordinary essence was accelerating, and his associative thinking was slightly increasing the rate of digesting the extraordinary essence.
"Knowledge? Wisdom?"
"Is the end of the Wizard Path similar to the concept mastered by Athena? Some kind of distorted version?"
"Or,"
"Are the twelve mythical paths not exclusive to each other?"
"If similar lower sequences can merge, and corresponding concepts can be promoted across paths, then the twelve mythical paths might not be entirely independent."
"In my understanding, a sequence should be a kind of domain law."
"Daisy is a transcendent on the Path of Nature, coming to the Dorne Region on the Path of Death for experience, is it possible these two paths can interconnect?"
Time ticked away, second by second.
When Shawn reined in his scattered thoughts, he unexpectedly felt extremely fatigued, and along with the digestion of the extraordinary essence, there was a noticeable yet distinct improvement in his primitive magic power.
"Primitive magic power has improved."
"This indicates that my associative thinking just now touched on some essence of the world," Shawn silently said.
The time was 9:35 pm.
Shawn emptied his mind before starting to process the knowledge he memorized during the day.
With his advancement along the Wizard Path, the reading magic of circle 0 began becoming stronger; both the efficiency of memorizing knowledge and the capacity of his brain seem to increase by about fifteen percent. Initially, the reading magic could only help him memorize contents up to a million words before efficiency significantly decreased, but now Shawn felt that the upper limit of knowledge forcibly memorized had increased noticeably.
The Secret Hand seemed to have improved a bit as well.
However, Shawn couldn’t confirm it because the previous test had been vague; the Secret Hand could originally lift roughly 50 kilograms, and this time, it seemed to improve by about ten percent.
Without specific measurements, distinguishing this improvement is hard.
"With stronger primitive magic, the effects of spells are also enhancing," Shawn could only be sure of this point.
A day quickly passed.
Shawn didn’t waste his precious time; he spent most of it immersed in the library.
Because of the boost from Reading Magic, learning knowledge had become a highly efficient task, and he was beginning to enjoy it a bit, after all, the enhancement in strength was real.
The morning sunlight spilled over.
There was a rain last night, and the air was quite fresh this morning.
Shawn heard a knock on the door.
Opening the door, he saw Benjamin dressed in a straight suit, still looking gentle and elegant; the weariness on his face had dissipated.
"Good morning, Sean." Benjamin removed his hat and said.
Shawn smiled and said, "Good morning, Captain Benjamin."
Today, Shawn had to leave.
He didn’t have any luggage except for the debt to Benjamin, which was still on his mind.
The expenditures in the past few days were little; Shawn still had about 900 denars left on him.
Pouring a cup of black tea for Benjamin, Shawn asked, "Did you catch that poet?"
Benjamin nodded slightly, "Yes."
"Already sent to a labor camp."
"The headquarters might have other plans for him, this guy is very smart. It took me some effort to catch him."
The power of the Charm Sequence is very effective in the real world.
At nine in the morning.
Shawn took one last look at the apartment he had been living in during this time and then followed Benjamin’s figure to the Night Watch Headquarters.
He had to return and face the desperate Bizarre Realm.
