Bizarre Realm
Chapter 49 - 4: Sealed Object No. 1
CHAPTER 49: CHAPTER 4: SEALED OBJECT NO. 1
In the dark underground passage.
Shawn had once again returned to the massive underground chamber leading to the Bizarre Realm, but this time, he was taken to see the legendary Sealed Object.
"Don’t take off the Confusion, it’s dangerous." The tall woman kindly reminded him.
How does everyone recognize the Confusion on him?
No, that’s incorrect.
It should be said, those who can recognize the Confusion on him are not simple.
The Butcher, Lady Hecate, the tall woman before him.
In the Bizarre Realm, many who can recognize the Confusion are suspected to be fabled Legendary beings.
Shawn nodded, "Hmm."
Here, he didn’t even need to take off the Confusion to feel enormous danger, as if a writhing shadow lurked within the chamber beside him, countless phantom tendrils swaying in the dark, and from the chamber ahead emerged waves of viscous flesh and blood, flowing back like a tide. In the chamber behind Shawn, dozens of runes were etched, an unknown presence constantly trying to inundate Shawn’s mind with eerie whispers.
The knowledge in his brain was so frightened it hid away, retreating to the grey matter regions.
Alright, this description is a bit crazy, but it’s Shawn’s genuine feeling.
After staying in the Bizarre Realm for too long, he felt he had already been assimilated.
"Number 1 Sealed Object."
"Mechanical Brain." The tall woman ahead of him spoke in a low voice, "One of the most powerful Sealed Objects in the real world."
"The Chief said you can use it."
"I’m not sure."
"But time is tight now, so we can only take the risk and try." She finished, handing the lantern in her hand to Shawn before her, "Hold onto it, absolutely don’t let go."
"If you encounter any danger, it will save you."
Shawn reached out to take it.
It was a cold lantern, its dim light devoid of any warmth. With his abilities, he couldn’t feel any abnormalities, and even the mysterious knowledge in his brain dared not approach it.
The space ahead was becoming more expansive.
Soon.
A massive, fully enclosed chamber appeared before him, countless mysterious runes etched around, locking the chamber and surrounding space together with some unknown black chains.
Shawn felt a tremendous pressure.
None of the chambers he’d seen before gave off a pressure as terrifying as this one.
Creaaak.
The heavy door opened, its gap filled with etched Secret Rune Markings, covering every corner. The Tomb Guardian stopped at the door and spoke in a low voice, "The Number 1 Sealed Object was left by a Great Sage from the Dark Era, a demigod on the Alchemy Path."
"If you can’t use it, don’t force yourself, come out immediately."
At the doorway.
Shawn took a deep breath and slowly raised the lantern in his hand.
The next second.
Shawn froze completely, utterly incredulous!
He saw a black monitor with a metal casing that seemed to absorb light, its hefty presence reminding Shawn of old-time electronic devices, each having a bulky back. On the small desk before the monitor sat a black keyboard made of pure metal, behind the monitor stood a gigantic case, about six meters in diameter, sealed with some black metal casing, obscuring the electronic components inside.
An ancient computer, its case enormous enough to fill the entire chamber.
The floor was laid with densely packed wiring, black cables without any plugs, and there were no power outlets in the entire chamber.
"Mechanical Brain? A computer?" Shawn felt as if his understanding had been somewhat challenged.
The legendary Number 1 Sealed Object.
Was this thing?
Just as Shawn was filled with disbelief, the computer screen in front of him suddenly lit up, chaotic signals like snowflakes flickered, and a fleeting dark shadow appeared, followed by a static blue screen.
"There’s no power and no sockets here!..." Shawn was instantly alert.
He shifted the Confusion slightly.
In an instant.
Shawn was paralyzed on the spot, a bead of cold sweat forming on his forehead, even his breath paused momentarily.
He saw a massive and hideous monster creeping in this dark, sealed chamber, blue arcs leaping amidst the writhing black shadow, countless cables swayed like tendrils, a layer of unknown flesh covered the black case, as if awakening from slumber. Amidst the case’s roaring, Shawn saw a pair of ghostly blue eyes, countless data streaming into his brain, leaving the mysterious knowledge in his mind trembling in fear.
It’s alive!
Shawn already felt it hard to breathe, the pressure from this Sealed Object was more terrifying than the Great Detective Morty Laine!
Cables danced wildly like innumerable serpents.
A massive, hideous ghostly shadow cast above the case, akin to a digital demon awaking from boundless delusion, opening its eyes in the real world!
"They even managed to create a computer back then?" Shawn’s breath quickened.
He recalled the book Lady Hecate had shown him.
"The Dark Era."
—"For the continuation of humanity, we used every means possible!"
This isn’t a computer.
This is an incredibly terrifying Sealed Object!
Since its inception, it had been twisted by the laws of the Bizarre Realm, infused with the thoughts of knowledge, possessing power akin to an Ancient Evil!
Countless knowledge flowed within it.
Delusion.
Activated Knowledge with a physical vessel gathered within this colossus.
"Mechanical Brain." Shawn gave a wry smile.
With a non-flesh lifeform as a vessel, carrying countless living knowledge, a miraculous creation of the Alchemy Path, the masterpiece of an alchemy demigod.
It now was the Bizarre Realm’s Number 1 terrifying Sealed Object in the series!
Shawn felt he was perhaps a bit crazy.
Because at this moment, he unexpectedly accepted everything he saw before him so quickly, and roughly guessed why the real world’s level of civilization was at the current stage.
The blue screen’s cursor flickered faintly on the monitor.
"Who are you?"
A line of characters appeared on the old monitor.
Shawn heard the tall woman behind him’s rapid breathing. Upon seeing the mutation ahead, she seemed even more nervous than Shawn, a special silver rune manifesting on her palm.
Huh!
Shawn took a deep breath, slowly walked to the monitor, and with slightly trembling fingers, began to type: "Shawn."
The cursor on the monitor stood still.
"You are not the creator..."
A soul-sigh-like echo came forth, a moving black cable gently fell on Shawn.
The slight electric shock made Shawn clutch the lantern in his hand tightly.
"You are a soul from the Otherworld. Where do you come from?"
On the blue screen.
A line of characters slowly appeared, the signal seemed unstable, causing the screen to flicker slightly, with occassional snowy static patterns.
Shawn took a deep breath and typed: "Earth."
Buzz!
Behind the display, within the giant black case, sounded a cheerful rumble, static mixed with snowy interference filled the screen, then the blue screen reappeared, as if its ’mood’ had returned to calm, and characters appeared at quicker speed.
"You are a ’Foreigner’."
Foreigner?
Was that to distinguish the soul from the Otherworld?
Shawn typed: "I guess so."
This ancient computer sealed within it an extremely terrifying monster, an indescribable delusion, amassed with countless knowledge, existing in reality with the computer as its shell.
It was clear.
Someone once tried saving the Bizarre Realm with technology, but ultimately failed.
Knowledge is living, and the knowledge-encased computer also turned into a living creature.
This is the insane and hopeless Bizarre Realm.
"Why have you come?"
Shawn turned to glance at the Tomb Guardian behind him, pondering for a moment, and typed: "Someone evaded Mr. Door, smuggling into reality."
Buzz!
Black cables began to dance, landing on Shawn, tiny electric currents trailing, as silvery metal filaments extended from within these cables, like needles, they pierced Shawn’s skin, directly connecting to the flesh and nerves in his head.
