CHAPTER 80: CHAPTER 16: HUNTER—SHAWN_3
In the darkness, a figure even more mysterious than the group of monsters was slowly approaching, accompanied by a snap, several monsters raised their heads warily.
But unfortunately, it was already too late.
Shawn’s figure appeared abruptly and then swept across the graveyard, emerging in front of the group of monsters. A cluster of ghostly blue flames suddenly manifested, followed immediately by an incredibly intense explosion, with flames erupting from him, spreading in all directions.
The rolling heat wave turned everything within a six-meter diameter into a sea of fire.
Boom!
The explosion’s shockwave directly overturned these monsters, even shattering a piece of the toppled tombstones. The burning flames elicited a series of heartrending screams from the monsters, the fire spreading over their bodies, causing them to roll on the ground, trying to extinguish their ignited black fur.
Bang, bang, bang!
A burst of fierce gunshots rang out, and within seconds, peace was restored. Shawn expressionlessly holstered his weapon, blew the smoke away from his fingers, and waved towards a distance saying, "Notify the logistics department."
"Come over and tidy up."
.........
Wetland Town.
This town is about thirty kilometers from the Dorne City area, a small town within the district with a population of less than 120,000 people.
The moonlight was fairly bright tonight.
In the southwest direction of the town, several figures were sprinting down the wide street, with doors and windows tightly shut all around. In the distance, clusters of torches were visible, and at the corner of the street, a broad, dark figure flashed by. Its running speed was astonishing as it glided along the vertical walls, leaping over obstacles in a single bound. Upon landing, it revealed a furry, almost wolf-like menacing face with traces of filthy blood at the corners of its mouth.
Chasing relentlessly behind was William, who, despite his formidable physical capabilities following the Warrior Path, struggled to keep up with the swift running humanoid monster.
"Sean. It’s running to the right." William said, holding a peculiar metal box.
This was a small Curio, imbued with Communication Skill.
Under the bright moonlight.
Shawn’s tall and slender silhouette appeared at the distant street corner. He wore a broad black trench coat, with a slight change in hairstyle resembling a retro side part, his handsome features emerging in the shadow carrying an air of mysterious decadence, as if he was an exorcist stepping out from the darkness.
"Understood."
Shawn moved his fingers slightly in Confusion, clicked the lighter in his hand shut, and raced up the stairs, quickly reaching the rooftop.
In front of him, the two street-side buildings had nearly a ten-meter gap between them. Shawn evaluated the monster’s escape route, gauged the distance between the buildings, then took a deep breath and began sprinting. As he reached the building’s edge, his figure leapt out, crossing more than half of the distance.
Without extraordinary abilities in flesh reinforcement, it’s nearly impossible to rely on physical prowess to leap such a distance.
As Shawn’s momentum was depleting, he began to fall. From this height, about four floors up, a fall would result in severe injury if not death.
——Dimensional Jump.
Shawn’s figure suddenly vanished between the buildings mid-leap, and the next second, he appeared directly atop the opposite building, his steps uninterrupted. He pulled out a modified short-barreled shotgun, discerned the approximate position, used his Spirituality to lock onto the escaping target’s direction, then quickly vaulted over the rooftop railing, leaping to the opposite balcony.
Even though Shawn followed the Casting Path as a Transcendent, any Transcendent’s physical attributes vastly surpassed those of ordinary people.
"Huh!"
Shawn glanced at the street below; he was about twenty meters high, four and a half stories. After taking a deep breath, he leapt directly from the rooftop.
The wind howled.
In the rapid descent, Shawn gripped the short-barreled shotgun tightly, and in an instant, just before hitting the ground, his figure abruptly vanished, reappearing the next second at the small alley’s exit on the street below.
Flash landing.
"Good evening." Shawn said, watching the aberrant werewolf charging down the alley. As its eyes filled with fear and disbelief, he pulled the trigger.
Bam!
The close-range blast from the reinforced shotgun shattered the monster’s monstrous head. Its massive, broken body dashed several meters further on inertia, slamming heavily into the wall as Shawn sidestepped, leaving behind a foul-smelling bloodstain.
"Done."
"Notify the logistics department."
Shawn holstered the shotgun, adjusting his trench coat, which was stained with blood. Being a Transcendent of the Wizard Path meant his agility wasn’t sufficient to dodge the blood spraying towards him.
He took out a lighter, twirling it in his palm, looked at William running from across the street, and raised his eyebrows saying, "All done."
"How about grabbing a drink later?"
William looked at the dark bloodstain in the corner, shrugged, and said, "Alright. Just the right time for a break."
"How many missions have you completed now?"
Shawn thought for a moment and said, "Counting the one at University City, it should be the sixth time."
A gentle breeze swept by.
Their figures slowly disappeared down the street. About fifteen minutes later, several individuals dressed in what was clearly logistics department attire arrived on the scene, beginning to clean up any traces of supernatural presence in the vicinity.
