CHAPTER 59: HIGH-QUALITY CHILD’S FATHER

Now Satyo knew he was in serious trouble. And all of this was being handled personally by Tristan Cakra... because of Wina. Because of Gara!

Satyo glared fiercely at Gara, who stood alone in the corner after Madha helped the guards detain two nobles trying to rebel.

When the guard tying him was momentarily distracted, Satyo lunged at Gara, aware that the Talent-suppressing collar was still on Gara’s neck, meaning he couldn’t use his powers.

Gara fell sideways. There were shards of glass all over the floor.

He instinctively protected his stomach with his arms, and the glass pierced his skin, blood flowing red.

Madha realized it too late. By the time he reached Satyo, Gara had already fallen.

Fury surged in his chest.

He threw Satyo into a cabinet with such force that the man lost consciousness.

In the midst of the chaos, Wina ran to Gara in panic. "Gara, you’re bleeding!"

"Does it hurt badly? What about your arm? Your stomach? Is the baby okay?"

She fired off question after question, not realizing she had said a word that was supposed to be a secret.

Madha’s ears perked up.

His head snapped toward Gara, his expression a mix of confusion and disbelief. But then he saw Gara’s bleeding arm, and his mind was instantly consumed with worry.

Though his eyes registered the stomach that should have been flat, but now had a small bump, he could only focus on the blood.

Gara looked up and saw Madha coming toward him.

It was over.

He expected the number on the heart icon above Madha’s head to plummet. But it didn’t change.

When she looked again, Madha was already in front of her, eyes filled with concern.

"Your hand! I have healing powder—" He reached for the pouch at his waist, but Gara grabbed his wrist.

"You should probably take this off first," she said, pointing to the collar around her neck.

Wina immediately called for a guard.

With a special device, the guard shattered the crystal on the collar, splitting it in half.

Gara immediately summoned her water to numb the pain, then quickly pulled out the glass shards stuck in her skin. Afterward, he wrapped his wound with a clean cloth.

Madha watched every movement anxiously.

Once Gara covered the wound, he finally exhaled, though his face still showed worry.

"You’re not going to ask about what my mother just said?" Gara asked.

As if just realizing it, Madha’s gaze shifted. This time, with anger.

But Gara could tell the anger wasn’t aimed at him.

"Who’s the bastard that did this to you? Was it him?" Madha glanced at Satyo, who was now being carried away by the guards, ready to pounce if Gara said yes.

But Gara shook his head. "It wasn’t him. I don’t even know who it was. It happened so fast... and I’ve forgotten everything."

Madha looked skeptical, but he wouldn’t push him if he wasn’t ready to talk.

Meanwhile, Tristan was discussing the four other victims with Mayor Danan and Grandpa Jaya.

"Besides Gara, two of them were kidnapped. And the other two were slaves legally purchased by Satyo. We’ll be returning the kidnapped ones to their regions. As for the two slaves..."

Tristan turned toward Grandpa Jaya. "Satyo didn’t register himself as the owner of the slaves. He registered your name instead."

"My name?" Grandpa Jaya looked confused.

"It seems he did that so his wife wouldn’t find out about the slave purchase."

Grandpa Jaya was at a loss for words. His son was truly beyond saving.

Buying and selling slaves wasn’t illegal as long as it was done through the proper channels, specifically, through an organization established by the territory.

Unfortunately, the requirements for slave trading in that organization were extremely strict: the origin of the slaves, the reason they were being sold, and many other detailed questions had to be clearly answered.

Because of this, a lot of slave trading ended up being conducted outside legal channels.

Grandpa Jaya looked at Tristan with a firm gaze. "Captain Tristan, I don’t want to own any slaves."

Just two meters away, the four people who had been in the cage with Gara overheard the conversation among the three men.

The elf suddenly moved toward Gara. "I come with you. You smell home. Smell tree."

Gara, who had been chatting with Madha, looked up with a bewildered expression. Did he hear that right?

It wasn’t just Gara who heard the elf’s words. Tristan and Grandpa Jaya did too.

Grandpa Jaya immediately said, "Do you want him to come with you, Gara?"

Before Gara could answer, the voice of Goddess Freya rang out with high urgency.

"You must take him with you. If he doesn’t go with you, he will die."

Gara was a little surprised. As a goddess, he believed Freya could predict someone’s lifespan. But he didn’t expect her to speak directly to him just to make sure he brought the elf along.

What would happen if the elf died?

"You’ll lose a high-quality father candidate."

Indeed. This goddess was always thinking about finding good seeds to father his children.

"If Grandpa allows it, I’ll bring him with me." Gara didn’t really care about the whole ’father candidate’ thing the goddess was talking about.

He just felt sorry for the elf. He didn’t want to leave him to die, even though he had no idea what would cause it.

"Of course Grandpa allows it." Grandpa Jaya nodded happily.

By giving new support to help Wina and Gara, he wouldn’t feel as guilty about everything Satyo had done to Gara.

As for the other slave, Grandpa Jaya entrusted him to Mayor Danan to be returned to the slave-trading organization and asked Mayor Danan to help the slave find a kinder master.

Mayor Danan, as a baron, normally wouldn’t obey the request of an ordinary village head under his jurisdiction. But when the old man showed up with Captain Tristan, he couldn’t take him lightly.
