"H-How could that happen?!" Han Suwen gasped in shock and couldn’t help but exclaim in a loud voice.

The woman on the bed also noticed their arrival and heard his voice.

"Who?!"

Han Suwen stiffened upon hearing her voice. His eyes glued to the woman that he’s been always longing to see. She was right in front of him. Wearing a simple white pajama dress and her long curly hair dropped freely on her. She looks skinny and pale, clearly looking unwell and tired.

It was the complete opposite of how Madam He described her that day. She was seen as someone who acted bravely and seemed with a free spirit yet now, it is clear that the rose that once bloomed withered.

His eyes landed on the white cloth on her eyes.

When Han Suwen was young, Madam Han would always insult his eyes, saying how it was like someone whom she hated the most. He got Yao Jiali’s eyes, a pair of peach blossoms that can seem to allure anything who’ll stare into.

However he couldn’t see her eyes now.

"H-How did this happen?" he asked with a small voice.

The woman wanted to speak but Yao Jiali heard that question and suddenly turned slightly aggressive.

"Mianmian?! Who is it?! Who are you with and why is he asking about me?!" It seems that what he asked hit something inside her that caused this sudden attitude.

"Sister Jiali, it’s someone who’s looking for you." The woman tentatively said.

"Looking for me?" Yao Jiali frowned. No one will look for her.

"Who are you?!" She asked with a hard tone. Even though she could not see, her other senses were extremely sensitive and she felt unfamiliar people outside the door. And with her mental strength, even though she’s now weak, it was still enough to hear someone’s voice.

It’s from a young man that she certainly didn’t know.

"..." Han Suwen fell in silence. What to do? Should he really say who he is now? What if she’ll not welcome him? Because just judging from her aggressive reaction, she was totally not open for anyone here.

"Sister, please calm down. Your visitor today isn’t just someone." Su Mian tries to calm her and smile slightly. "And I think you’ll like who’s here."

"Who?" Yao Jiali was totally in doubt. She’ll like it? Who will it be? It’s been so many years that she didn’t even try to leave this room. No one would probably look for her for just a visit.

She really couldn’t recall anyone who would think about coming here so when Su Mian finally spoke that name, she was utterly dumbfounded and felt like was struck by lightning.

"Y-You..." She gasped in exclamation and abruptly stood up from her seat but because of her shocked and weak body, she went off balance and was about to fall.

Yet in the next second, Yao Jiali felt someone move fast as lightning without a second thought towards her and quickly held her arms.

And it was certainly a touch from someone she didn’t know.

She flinched subconsciously and wanted to take back her arms when a trembling voice sounded beside her.

"M-Mo... M-Mom..."

Yao Jiali gasped again. What did she just hear? Did she just hear it right?!

"Y-You..." She turned her head in the direction but couldn’t really see anything in her situation. However, the young man’s hands are still holding her arm and she can feel the coldness from his fingertips that made her stunned.

The child is extremely nervous and scared.

When Yao Jiali suddenly went silent after his call, Han Suwen became even more afraid.

Afraid that in the next second she’ll push him away or even say that she doesn’t want him here. Her silence felt like a thorn stuck on his throat that he started having a hard time breathing.

Han Suwen was just standing here but he felt like he was standing for his final verdict that will certainly determine whether he can still live or die.

... Does she want him out? Is that why she was silent? That’s all he could think of because he really didn’t know what to do.

He wanted to push his luck again and speak but just as he opened his lips, she finally responded.

"Are... are you really Suwen?" her voice was almost like a whisper and it sounds hoarse but that question was just enough to make him unknowingly feel firmer to meet her.

"I-I am," Han Suwen tried to calm himself and took a deep breath. He was still feeling heavy and the corner of his eyes reddened due to the strong emotion that he’s feeling.

He tightened his hold a bit on her arm and finally introduced himself officially to the woman that he’s been waiting for.

"My name is Han Suwen. I am your son, Mother."

How did Yao Jiali end up like this anyway?

She was also born in a brothel and her mother is obviously working in this place too. She had an unknown father and never had the chance to get to know him while as for her mother, she left the brothel one day and never came back. Because of the environment that she has lived in ever since, her personality is actually just the same as others probably.
