CHAPTER 243: 243: THE TRUTH

"What are you even talking about..?" Elvis questioned. "What makes you think you can make up whatever you want?"

Elvis demanded, still in denial of whatever information Eden was passing through.

But Eden scoffed. "You probably don’t know about any of it," he stared at him. "Well, at least you should know that."

Eden now spoke with certainty. "You should know what your mum has been going through here. How The King talks down on her as he pleases and how Queen Lea orders her to clean her feet whenever she feels pissed off by you."

Elvis clenched his fist. "You can’t make things up as you wish—"

"I’m not making up anything," Eden insisted. "All I’ve said is true. To protect you and let the so-called people reign, your mum is being treated like trash."

He continued, "She kneels down before Queen Lea and gets treated like a servant. Or even worse. She suffers such humiliation silently without letting anyone know."

Elvis shook his head. He still didn’t believe it. He didn’t want to believe his mother was going through such. "You’re lying..." he stuttered. "You don’t have the right to make up such stories as you wish... Don’t you know you’re blasphemous to slander the Queen like that?"

Eden scoffed. "Slander?" He laughed. "I guess you wouldn’t believe me that easily, huh? Well then. Maybe I’ll have to show you."

Eden had already prepared something in advance. When he was invisible in Queen Lea’s room, he had used his power to capture the scene magically. And he had stored those scenes in his eyes for replay.

"Look at me," Eden demanded. "Look into my eyes if you want to see the truth then," He insisted.

Elvis hesitated but still stared. He stared right into Eden’s eyes, not knowing what to even expect. He didn’t know if he expected his words to be true or not. But he simply stared into his eyes.

And the scene began replaying.

Eden was glad what he stored in his eyes worked. He had a feeling that his powers wouldn’t last till whenever he wanted to speak with Elvis, so he had stored these temporarily here.

And it worked. The scenes played out to Elvis as he stared into Eden’s eyes. He could magically see it. Watch as Queen Lea spoke down on his mother. Watch as she knelt her down and spoke derogatory words to her.

Watched as she reminded her about washing her feet. And how she demanded her to pour some tea for her. And how she almost emptied the cup of tea before her.

All these scenes were replayed right in his eyes. And Elvis couldn’t help but stagger backwards while blinking profusely. The scenes broke off and he was back to himself.

Elvis clenched his fists as the scene replayed laced in his head. He shook his head as he stared at Eden who stood there watching him.

"No..." Elvis muttered to himself. He had realized that he wanted it to be false more than anything else. He didn’t want it to be true that his mother had to go through all these. "You’re lying..."

Eden scoffed. "And why would I want to do that?"

"You’re a wizard. So you could make it all up," Elvis insisted. He was still in denial. "How could I even trust you then? You’re probably planning something.. that’s why you fabricated this..."

Elvis shook his head. "It can’t be true," He insisted. "This can’t happen. You certainly did it."

Eden inhaled and then exhaled. Elvis was getting emotional now. His words staggered on his lips as he shook his head. He was trying to deny everything about it.

"I know it’s hard to believe but you have to —" He tried speaking to Elvis.

"It’s a lie!" But Elvis snapped, aggressive. Elvis stormed towards Eden and grabbed him by the neck. He held his neck tightly and pulled him closer. His cold eyes on Eden.

Eden stiffened; he could feel the access of air narrowing as his hands gripped his neck. Elvis had a murderous expression on, staring at him while he breathed heavily.

"You’re lying.." Elvis demanded. "It’s all a lie. You’re a wizard so this is what you do best! You lie and make things up to ruin everything! You’re lying and I won’t listen to any of it!"

He spoke furiously. But Eden could see from within how hurt he was from what he learnt. Something he didn’t want to be true at all. Something he believed that if he denied, it would all be a lie.

And Eden couldn’t blame him.

"You can do all you want. You can kill me or whatever, but it’s the fact. And I’m not going to lie about something like that..." Eden said.

"Lies..." Elvis muttered, glaring into Eden’s eyes. "You’re lying..."

And while Eden stared into his eyes, he saw the need to continue. Saw the need to pour out the whole truth to him and let it all sink in nevertheless. He saw the need to bring him to the light. Because after all, he also deserves to know the truth.

Eden scoffed. "You think I’m lying about that?" He questioned. "Then you should also ask questions about how it all began. You should ask questions about why your relationship with your mum is like this. Why the two of you got strained like this.. and how some family secrets caused it."

He spoke with such confidence that Elvis staggered. He stared at Eden as curiosity ran through him. "What are you talking about..?" He questioned.

And Eden’s expression went neutral. "Your mum won’t tell you. She doesn’t think you should know why she’s always been cold to you. Why she always avoided you since you were young. Why your relationship with her is like that. She never told you."

Elvis’s grip on Eden’s neck loosened. "What do you mean...?"

Eden cleared his throat. "Don’t you know? About the secret your mother knows that ruined everything. That secret that put her in this condition. The secret that put you two in such situation."
