CHAPTER 244: 244: THE TRUTH II

"What happened...?" Elvis demanded. He was curious. He had always wanted to know. He was always curious to know what happened years ago.

Even though he "believed" Eden was lying about the first statement he made, he still wanted to hear what he had to say for the next. He wanted to know something at all.

And his curiosity had gotten the best of him. "What are you talking about...?"

Eden stared at him. Silent for a while. He contemplated how he was going to present it to him. Wondered if Elvis would be able to handle it.

But then again, he had already made up his mind. And he’d have to tell him regardless.

And he did.

Eden told him everything in the most basic way he could. Summarized to Elvis the story of how King Edward took down the Kingdom of Levrick. How Queen Elizabeth was related to it all. How she found out about it and how King Edward had shut her up.

Through her son, him.

He explained all these to Elvis while staring at his face. Watching as his expression fell apart while Eden told the story.

Elvis began staggering backwards as soon as he was done speaking. As soon as he was done telling him how his relationship with his mum came to be like that. And why.

Eden could see the terror in his face.

"Your mum didn’t want you to know. It was her way of trying to protect you amidst the situation. It was her little way of doing so even if it hurt the both of you. But she was helpless in this situation. She couldn’t think of a better way..."

Elvis said nothing. He didn’t speak. He only staggered backwards until he met a chair. He stood before it, staring into thin air.

Thoughts ran through his mind. Endless thoughts. He didn’t know what to make of it. He didn’t know what to think about it.

He just let all these thoughts run through his head while he broke down in reaction to all of this information.

Eden simply watched him.

He had done what he believed he wanted to do. He had passed down the information he had been holding in for a while now. And Elvis was giving the expected reaction.

And at that moment he knew Elvis wasn’t in his right mind to listen any further. He was already breaking apart and needed time to digest all these. So Eden knew there was nothing he could do any further.

"I just thought you deserved to know this at least," Eden said. "And it’s okay if you don’t wish to believe me. You can confirm for yourself too."

Eden stared at him after a short silence. "But at least try doing the right thing with this information. Try protecting your mother, she’s already tired."

He said as he walked towards the door. He figured it was best to leave him so he’d think through it alone and digest.

"And also remember to take the pills. You should first cure yourself before anything else," He reminded him as he walked out of the room, leaving Elvis alone in there.

Elvis sunk down into the seat, drowning in the thoughts that consumed him now. Endless thoughts he never knew were possible.

These were answers he had been looking for for ages. And now these answers had come to him. And suddenly he wasn’t ready to process all of them at once.

He sat there trying to digest them all when Mr. George came in. He was shocked to see him in such a condition.

"What’s wrong?" Mr. George demanded. "Why are you like this?"

Elvis was quiet. He sat there for long, staring into thin air. Lost in thoughts.

"What’s wrong?" He asked. "Why are you like that? Did the Wizard of EL do anything?" He demanded.

But Elvis finally said, "I want you to help me look into something."

Mr. George was surprised. "Huh?"

Elvis now stared at him. "I. I want you to help me to look into something. Something confidential."

******

It was an evening before the engagement ceremony. Everything was already in order.

The Banquet Hall was already decorated and prepared for the wedding. Everything was set as the maids and servants in the palace were moving around to make sure that everything was set.

The palace was bustling and busy. Busy with people getting ready for the great day tomorrow. The day of the engagement ceremony of the crown prince and the Imperial princess.

No mistakes were to be entertained. So they were making sure everything was perfect.

And while they were all busy with this, Eden was in his room.

He lay there in his bed, lost in thoughts. Lenny lay by his side, resting.

Eden couldn’t help but sigh from time to time while he thought about his conversation with Elvis. He couldn’t help but wonder how he was doing.

He couldn’t help but think about if he had gotten over it. If he was still thinking about it or not. The thoughts bugged him for a while.

And then he realized that it was tomorrow. The wedding day.

Eden wondered if Elvis would still attend the wedding. He probably was going to. But then he wondered what he was going to do after he found the truth.

Was he going to get back at his father and Queen Lea? Or was he going to keep his calm? Eden figured he might do the latter.

And while he thought about all these, Eden also figured that he was potentially going to get killed tomorrow as well.

Lenny had told him that someone was out to kill him. And he was certain it was the priest. So now Eden knew he had to come up with something to protect himself tomorrow.

He didn’t have his powers yet. So he knew he had to get them if he wanted to protect himself. And the only person who could help him with that was Felix.

But he wasn’t around.
