CHAPTER 35: AN UNKNOWN SENSATION

Be that as it may, since she had determined herself to answer any question he asked, she replied, her lips graced with a contemptuous grin, as though mocking him for not comprehending such a simple fact or asking such a foolish question...

"Idiot, my family didn’t even last full 20 minutes, before that nether spirit". She stopped, her voice, a whisper tinged with mischief, a teasing glint echoed in her slitted pupils.

With a cough, she continued,

"His undead army numbered in hundreds. And just an hour after my birth, that abomination had attacked and slaughtered my family within those 20 minutes. And no I wasn’t only 4 hours old when I met you, I was 4 hour 33 minutes old when I met you. Thus I had almost 3 full hours in which I ran for my life disregarding every little thing. Humph.. " Zephyr finished her long monologue, but didn’t forget to show her dissatisfaction by sneering cutely at Black.

"Alright! Alright! I’m sorry for asking such a stupid question.. happy now." Apologized Black as he chuckled. continuing, he asked her another question, an attempt to distract her,

"Anyhow, tell me do you have any idea, or even a slight clue as to where that Dark-Fall lake is, otherwise how are you gonna complete you vengeance." Said Black, getting back to the main topic. Not wanting to continue their senseless banter anymore.

Though she noticed his attempt to distract her, she couldn’t ignore the question he asked her either, thus she decided to let the matter go too.

She moved a step away from him, sitting up straight.

Her enchanting visage illuminated by the soft glow of the bioluminescent fungi and the giant pink mushroom, her ivory skin shimmered in the warm glow, giving her an enigmatic almost a fairy like presence. Her serpentine scarlett onyx pupils gazed at Black as though they could pearse through him.

Zephyr was lost in thought, absorbed in her memories, trying to find an answer to his earlier question. Subconsciously her right hand moved towards her chin as she closed her eyes, her head lowered facing the smooth surface of the mushroom she was sitting on.

Her raven black hair with scarlett strands like a midnight curtain, pierced by crimson stars, free falling over her face covering it.

Black observed her, a soft smile gracing his lips, as he also sat up using his hands. His Golden pupils like the morning embers shone with an intense gaze. An unknown feeling willing up in his heart. something he felt for the first time, something his young self couldn’t compherend, not right now atleast, perhaps in the future he would truly understand this unknown sensation he got when looking at zephyr that made his heart race, beating triumphantly.

"Though I don’t know where the Dark-Fall lake is located. I atleast know that the place where I come from is not barren at all, like this section of the caverns – " She stopped. As she regarded Black with raised eyebrows.

Black was lost in his thoughts, trying to compherend the strange feelings that willed up in his heart unexpectedly, when suddenly he heard zephyr’s voice, his absent-minded eyes regained their clarity, pulling him out of his reverie which made him a little perplexed, her words ringing in his mind like a doorbell, nonetheless he managed to recover within seconds.

With wide eyes, he turned towards zephyr as he watched her stop what she was saying.

At the same time zephyr’s eyes sparkled with curiosity, ’what got into him. wasn’t he the one who asked about the Dark-Fall lake earlier, so why is he spacing out all of a sudden.’ thought zephyr, her head tilted to the side like a curious pigeon.

And observing the spark of curiosity and confusion in her eyes, Black’s face gained a shade of red because of the embarrassment.

Nonetheless he cleared his throat, trying to salvage the situation..

"Sorry about that! I don’t know what came over me, could you please repeat what you said earlier one more time! zephyr." requested Black, his words tinged with a tone of apology.

His eyes moved to the side as though not daring to look her in the eyes. Maybe an attempt to hide his embarrassment. As even he couldn’t understand why he would suddenly space out looking at zephyr ’strange! Why did I suddenly feel that way.’ He thought as he waited for zephyr’s reply. However he didn’t know that she herself wasn’t fairing any better then him.

Meanwhile, zephyr also had her serpentine eyes wide like saucers, shocked, stunned even astonished. It was the first time she had seen Black being embarrassed or making such an expression before her since they become a family.

However rather than feeling entertained or amused by the sight before her like she would usually feel, instead she felt the burst of an unknown emotion in her heart as though resonating with him, causing her heart-beat to suddenly peak, she could even hear her heart thumping against her chest loudly, rapidly even erraticly.

For a second there, her breath turned ragged.

Nonetheless, she composed herself, as she turned to look to the side, also avoiding looking at him, since she too couldn’t understand these unknown sensations that suddenly assaulted her heart and mind, making her puzzled.

Taking a deep breath she gathered her thoughts as she repeated, what she had spoken previously, though her voice still stuttered in the beginning indicating her spiked emotions.

Nevertheless she still finished, at the end, finally regaining control over her emotions again, as she turned towards Black and watched him.

Black had also suppressed his earlier embarrassment, returning to his calm, confident self. As they both looked into each other’s eyes, they could see the look of confusion and astonishment reflecting in it.

A single thought echoing in both of zephyr’s and black’s mind, ’Just... what was that’.

Even so, they tactfully decided to just forget and ignore the matter and act like nothing had happened at all. Since they both could tell even without speaking, that the other was as oblivious regarding the earlier incident as they themselves were.

They don’t usually use their soul bond to feel each other’s emotions, as it is really very uncomfortable and causes there minds to become muddle-headed.

Though the sensation isn’t that strong normally and they can overcome the muddle-headedness over time, it is a totally different story when their emotions are really unstable, erratic or even chaotic.

At that time if they do use their soul bond to feel other’s unstable emotions, just keeping their minds stable proved to a challenging task let alone trying to understand the other parties emotions.

That’s why, previously when zephyr had a sudden emotional outburst, Black hadn’t used their soul bond to understand her either.

Anyhow, with the passage of time their soul bond would be solidified even more, furthermore as Black’s mastery over his two trait of Resonance and Dissonance increases and additionally as his incomplete physique assend to compilation their soul bond would solidify even further.

Hence becoming incomparably stronger, and without a doubt would be capable of eliminating such weakness.

7 days later...

"So you are saying, just past this massive cliff is your home" Black questioned as he turned towards zephyr, a smirk playing across his lips.

"Right.. a few more hours and I’ll finally be able to butcher the disgusting worm who slaughtered my family" Zephyr nodded, her scarlett serpentine eyes shone with an eerie, evil even malevolent light. Her lips curled into a cold and cruel smile.
