CHAPTER 46: NETHER SPIRIT 7 — "TRULY THE CUNNING BEFITTING OF A SERPENT! FUFUFU.. "

*Cough... *

"Black... " Zephyr shrieked, her expression becoming wrathful just in a matter of a millisecond. She couldn’t believe that after all that talk where he braged about his higher rank, he used such a wicked trick on them. To attack Black.

Meanwhile, Black fell to the ground with a *thud* on the remains of the now shattered tree and directly coughed a mouthful of blood painting the ground in crimson red.

"Uhg... " He grunted in pain. This attack had indeed totally caught him off-guard making him unable to react or even defend in time yet it also served as a wake up call for him about just how wide the strength disparity between them was.

Although his bones weren’t broken his muscles and internal organs were in a complete mess further adding on to the horrible pain he felt and had to silently endure.

While, Zephyr infuriated as though possessed by the demons wrath advanced towards Ava’ross, her mind completely blank only echoing with a single thought of killing him in the most savage manner possible, she covered the distance between them in a matter of seconds.

"Die! Worm!! " Her voice thundered as her hand laced with the currepted wisps of her soul poisen advanced towards Ava’ross trying to pierce his heart.

However Ava’ross only regarded her with an amused expression and without dodging, he simply grabbed her soul poison laced hand moving towards his chest,

He spoke with a sinister grin, "I’ll show you who is the real worm! Little girl!" Saying that, he directly asended 10 meters above the ground in an instant as though teleportating.

Zephyr didn’t even have the time to react or even understand what was happening before she crashed into the solid obsidian stoned ground like a rock falling from sky’s with a loud *Boom!!*.

The obsidian stoned ground groaned even cracked upon impact causing dust and debris to rise.

"Haauughh... " Zephyr screamed in pain. Her sight blurry from the blood covering her eyes. Nonetheless she still tried to stood up even while her body screamed in pain.

While Ava’ross laughed mockingly, "Now, do you understand who the real worm is little girl." As he descended, a cruel smirk dancing across his lips, amused by her efforts.

However just as his feet touched the ground, he wobbled, a little disoriented.

"Wh-what??" He blurted with a stunned expression.

Unexpectedly Zephyr’s Soul Poison that he looked down upon seemed to have worked on him despite his strong resistance towards poison as a nether spirit, when he had grabbed her soul poison laced hand previously.

Although he did know that zephyr had two types of poisen since he had watched her slaughter his undead army with the second one, he didn’t know it was a soul poison, he couldn’t have guessed something so absurd even in his wildest of imagination since soul poison wasn’t your everyday thing even in the ground layers of the caverns.

Though the good thing was that the poison hadn’t entered his body even so it was strong enough to make him disoriented for the next 10 seconds where he couldn’t even tell where was the ground and where was the sky.

Nevertheless his identity as a nether spirit added with his higher rank seemed to have worked in his favor in neutralizing the soul poison which hadn’t even enter his body.

Meanwhile Black thaught, ’Is the gap between our strength this wide that I nearly got incapacitated in a single strike! No I don’t think so, otherwise even my bones wouldn’t have held on either and would’ve instead broken like my muscles, it must be because I was caught off-guard and wasn’t able to defend properly.’ While healing his injuries by resonating with the wood elemental’s present abundantly in this supposed clearing in the middle of a large forest.

Nevertheless after his injuries were completely healed within those 10 seconds Ava’ross exchanged blows with Zephyr.

Black looked at him just in time as his feet tuched the hard ground and how he wobbled because of the soul poison, although he was incensed upon seeing zephyr’s current condition he didn’t let the anger get to his head, taking advantage of the unexpected opportunity provided by zephyr.

He advanced towards Ava’ross as though gliding through calm water.

Although he couldn’t resonate with more then one elements at the same time, his transition between them was as fluid as a flowing river.

Meaning in just milliseconds he can switch between the 5 basic elements however he wants.

Thus he went from using the wood element to heal himself to the water elements to aid in his speed, his body clad in the elemental essence of the water element moved with a swiftness unseen from many.

And within a fraction of a second like a wind breeze he arrived before the disoriented! Poisoned — Ava’ross.

His expression was as cold as the millionna cold frost.

Furthermore with a simple thought he went from using the water element to fire just within that second and without any hesitation, pause or doubt his right hand clad in the inextinguishable flames of wrath moved with a swift and precise motion.

The flames themselves burned even more furiously then ever before as though reflecting even resonating with the wrath of the proginetor itself.

He too delivered a solid fist across Ava’ross face sending him flying like a cannonball.

Ava’ross slid and tossed on the hard obsidian stoned ground like a rag-doll.

Then with another loud *bang* crashed into one of the large fragmented remains of the undead! Coming to a screeching halt.

At the same time after delivering the satisfying punch, Black quickly turned towards zephyr — his earlier worry and concern finally bursting out.

And when he saw her standing straight like a mountain looking at him with a graceful smile as though nothing had happened. He sighed in relief.

His taut posture finally relaxing a bit.

"That was a good punch, Black.. hehe." Zephyr said with a soft giggle as she wiped the blood from her mouth, then she continued, her bloodied velvet lips parting, "I wish I had delivered one too.. " She said with a dramatic sigh, her shoulders dropping.

"You sure are lively considering the situation we are currently in... Hmn!! " Black asked with an amused smirk.

Zephyr replied with a non-chalant wave of her hand, "If we couldn’t even kill such worm then can we really call ourselves the proginetor and the first born." she asked him another question instead of directly answering his, her lips curled into a shrewd smile.

Upon hearing her answer Black’s eyes went wide in astonishment, "Wow!! Now you are even becoming cunning like a serpent! Huh!! I really can’t refute that!! Tsk..." he clicked his tunge in annoyance as she really hit him with that question where it hurts.

"Hehehe! What did you expect I was born a serpent!! Hehe.. " Zephyr giggled with a cheeky smile.

"You insolent brats!" Shouted Ava’ross. Angered!.

Upon hearing him both Black and Zephyr frowned! This worm just couldn’t stay quiet for a minute they were having such a good time.

"We should just kill him, Right" Black suggested his voice irritated.

Zephyr nodded twise, "Umm... we should!! " Zephyr said, as they both turned towards Ava’ross regarding him with a serious! solemen expression!

While Ava’ross also watched them — Fuming.

Of course he would be — After getting smashed in the face and crashing into the large fragmented remains of the undead and coming out the the fragmented remains just to see and hear them talking with such nonchalance and disregard despite his presence.

Furthermore he felt even more humiliated by the topic of their conversation.

Just what did these two take him for — Even after their brief exchange and learning about just how wide the gap between ’there’ strength and ’his’ was.

They were still looking down on him even till now! Totally disregarding him! Disdaining him. They even had the same look he hated the most in his life — The one he always got from the beings residing in the ground layers of the caverns when he too was also residing there.

Finally he had enough! After being Mocked! Disdained! Even looked down upon by two brats so much weaker them him even younger them him.

His towering rage finally exploded like a volcanic eruption and he changed towards them with a reckless abandon.

Black also moved to intercept him head on. Furthermore this time even though weaker then him both in raw power and battel experience he was able to hold on using the versatility of his Resonance trait.

He used earth and metal element for defense, water for dispersing the damage upon impact, wood for healing, and fire and earth for attack. Additionally Although he couldn’t use them simultaneously, he was also slowly improving, timing his elemental transition accurately every time by just a split second.

The pressure of battling Ava’ross head on also helped him immensely in improving his mastery over his Resonance trait.

After Black and Ava’ross initial exchange zephyr also joined him, using her soul poison to keep Ava’ross on edge, preventing him from using his higher level to suppress them, making him devide his attention between both of them equally causing both his reaction speed and reaction time to drop considerably.

And as time passed both Black and Zephyr were able to battel him on even grounds.

Nonetheless if the battle continued in its current pace both Black and Zephyr would exhaust themselves first before him, resulting in their eventual demise.

Thier battel had raged for three minutes none stop, the pressure was great on both sides since no matter how experienced Ava’ross was in close combat, ultimately as a nether spirit he wasn’t much batter then both of them either.

He couldn’t even fly since neither he had the means to attack them from distance nor he would be able to because of the balls of fire, water, wood, earth, and metal Black would send his way repeatedly. Causing him much frustration.

He couldn’t believe he was having so much difficulty in handling two level 61 brats even as a level 73 nether spirit, he shuddered simply at the fact of what would’ve happened to him if they were a bit stronger when he met them.

Nonetheless after another 30 seconds he was finally able to land a solid blow on Black, breaking his spine as he crashed on the ground with a loud *boom.. *

"Haug.. "

"Black.. " Zephyr screamed when she saw Ava’ross speeding towards Black to deliver the killing blow, in her desperation she attacked him throwing all the caution to the wind.

However that proved to be a huge mistake as Ava’ross suddenly changed his target from Black to her, landing a powerful punch across her abdomen with one hand, and grabbing her neck with the other.

"Got you!!! You’ve been quite a big annoyance to me all this time, and that soul poison of yours too! Now die!!" Ava’ross said with a sinister smile, choking Zephyr.

"Ughh.. " She grunted in pain. Clawing his hands.

"You basterd!!" Black screamed, using the wood element to heal his broken spine.

But no matter what he did, he atleast needed minutes to heal his broken bones because of his low mastery over his trait.

"Don’t you dare touch her!!" He continued his eyes burning red with anger.

He never felt this helpless in all the days he roamed the caverns as he felt right now. He cursed himself for being weak.

Seeing the look in Black’s eyes Ava’ross sinister smile widened even more, "Why! Where is all that arrogance that you both showed me before now!!" He said, then as though he thaught of something interesting, he continued...

"Right, how about this, I might think of sparing her if you beg me! Just kidding! Hahahaha.. " He laughed taking delight in their suffering.

...

"Hmm... Should I help them Now! Since it doesn’t look like there is anything else left to see! And I can’t let them die here either otherwise those old farts would surely hunt me down, even the will of Elytheria itself would come after me.. " She said, standing on one of the trees.

"Not like I’m afraid of them or anything, just that it sure would be such a pain in the ass dealing with them... "

"Alright let’s end this farce.. " she decided, However before she could even take a step forward she halted, her eyes wide in astonishment.

"Truly the cunning befitting of a serpent! Fufufu.. "
