Blood Awakening: The Strongest Hybrid and His Vampire Bride
Chapter 518: Plan's Going Forward
Chapter 518: Plan’s Going Forward
Meanwhile, in the grand mansion of the Volkov Estate. Ivan and Elizabeth awaited guests from various clans. “Are you sure Nikolai won’t mind?” He asked the beautiful vampire clinging to his arm with a faint smile.
“Our cute son would never be angry about this. I want him to rest well, this complicated stuff can be taken care of by us adults.” Elizabeth smiled back.
‘It’s not like I can go against you… my wife.’
Ivan’s affection for his wife only grew the moment she returned to this world. Thus, the things she couldn’t do and had to endure for the past decade. He did his best to avoid such things and wanted her to spread her wings. “Then, shall we greet them?”
The pair stood atop the first-floor balcony, looking down the grand staircase that led to the main hall, where several of the senior members of each trustworthy clan related to the Moonlight Alliance.
“Let’s go together.”
“Anything for you, darling?”
“E-Eliza… is that really you!?” A sensual, yet deep feminine voice called out.
“Oh~ Nagisa, you look so pretty tonight.” Eliza joked as she held Ivan’s arm, both of them walking down the long staircase.
Nagisa wore a beautiful black dress with a frilled white trim and a slight shimmer under the bright lights. Tonight, the heads of each seat gathered for a single reason… to celebrate the birth of a successor and the resurrection of the Báthory Blood Queen.
“Dimitri you look really excited.” Ivan elbowed his old friend while handing a cooled glass of blood wine.
“You bastard, you already got to see them, right? How are they?” Dimitri’s voice almost sounded cute to the others, his excitement and high-pitched tone quite amusing for Ivan to hear.
“You sound just like when you asked me to set you up with Nagisa in the past, brother.”
“Shut up… our grandchildren, are they cute?”
Dimitri looked like a seasoned gangster with his scars and rough face, and yet the moment it concerned his daughters, wife and now his granddaughters. He transformed into a gentle giant filled with affection and protective desire.
“Extremely cute.” Ivan boasted. “I couldn’t take any pictures, but we’ll go see them after getting some ‘information’ for our son to use.”
Nagisa leaned closer to Eliza as the pair enjoyed a fruited wine, something weaker than the usual wines. Normally used to cleanse the palate. “I’ve not seen him so excited or happy since Kurone’s birth. Fufu, my husband is so cute. Don’t you agree, Eliza?”
The calm beauty looked at her partner in crime with a faint smile. “I guess even Dimitri can be cute when it comes to those lovely little girls.” She swilled the drink in her hand while taking a slow, deep breath. “I didn’t expect the two of them to have three children with their first time together.”
“Well it’s a good litter… I imagine my little girl suffered.” Nagisa chewed on her lip. Earlier in the night, several groups attacked the Fenrir compounds and clubs, along with many other clans that suffered attacks at the same time. “Those bastards.” She squeezed the reinforced glass tight, veins popping from her forehead. “If it weren’t for them attacking us in vital places I could have been there for my baby’s first birth!”
“Now now, Nagi… calm down. My son stayed with her the entire time, even now, he’s keeping her warm and comfortable.” Elizabeth flicked the corners of her lips up into a sharp, foxy smile as she watched the other guests and listened to them speaking. “I think we should interrogate the little bugs that tried to slip into our homes.”
“Hey, brother…” Dimitri suddenly shuddered and looked back at his blushing wife beside Elizabeth.
“Hm?”
“Isn’t your wife… like.” The sight of her manhandling Ivan earlier replayed in Dimitri’s mind as he looked away with a bitter smile. “Much stronger than before.”
“Ah.” Ivan cleared his throat but didn’t speak further.
Ivan awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, the faintest trace of a nervous grin twitching at his lips. “Well… you know how it is,” he muttered. “Thanks to using the best possible ingredients my wife’s current state is the peak of Great Elder. If she didn’t pass when she did, wouldn’t this be normal?”
Dimitri’s scarred face twitched, eyes darting to Eliza, who was currently laughing with Nagisa, wine glass poised like a queen’s sceptre. “Enthusiasm?” he whispered. “She crushed one of your ribs when she hugged you earlier.”
“Do you see how hot my wife is?” He shrugged. “Worth it.” Ivan took a sip of his drink.
Across the hall, Eliza’s laughter turned heads. “Don’t be so dramatic, dear,” she called over her shoulder, clearly having heard them. “If I truly meant to hurt you, you’d be decorating the floor.”
A series of chuckles followed. After all, this was a gathering of superhumans and monsters, and so their hearing could pick up a pin dropping in another room.
“Your wife is scary man.”
“Nagisa is just as strong; her illusions can break anyone.”
Dimitri took a deep breath and looked towards his wife. He didn’t know if it was on purpose, but their eyes met, and she curled her lips into a devilish smile.
“Y-Yeah…”
Ivan knew the secrets and things Nagisa used to use her power for when dating Dimitri, who used to be a bit of a womaniser. He couldn’t help but laugh and decided to proceed with their plans to interrogate and gather information for Nikolai.
“We’re both lucky men, let’s be real.”
“True, I’ll drink to that brother.”
Ivan’s laughter blended with the clinking of glasses, the faint music of violins drifting through the grand hall. The atmosphere had returned to the calm and elegant party. But beneath the polished smiles, an undercurrent of excitement and tension pulsed through every conversation.
“Alright, everyone,” Ivan said, setting his drink aside. His voice carried enough weight to draw the attention of every clan head present. “Let’s move on to business before the night gets too comfortable.”
Eliza took his arm again, her expression shifting from playful mother and wife to the cruel and aggressive Blood Queen beneath the loving mother’s mask. “The attacks on our allied territories weren’t coincidence,” she said, her tone gentle but edged with jagged steel. “The timing aligned perfectly with my son’s battle and my granddaughter’s birth. Someone wanted us distracted and to use this to harm our future heirs and maybe there is a traitor amongst us once again.”
Dimitri’s pleasant expression flattened into a glare. “Agreed big sister, so let’s flush em out.”
“Exactly.” Eliza raised her glass, the crimson liquid shimmering like blood in the light. “We’ll start with the Sanguis scum who tried to infiltrate this estate. A few are already being kept alive for questioning. I wouldn’t mind if me and Nagisa spoke to them personally.”
Nagisa chuckled darkly beside her. “Oh, I haven’t interrogated anyone in years. This might be fun.”
“Don’t overdo it, ladies,” Ivan sighed, though the corner of his mouth betrayed a grin. “We still need them to talk.”
“Oh, we’ll make them talk,” Eliza replied sweetly, brushing her hand along his chest before turning back toward the gathered clan leaders. “And when they do, we’ll finally see which rat in the house is bold enough to target our family.”
Silence followed as Elizabeth and Nagisa practically skipped towards the basement together while linking arms. Dimitri and Ivan just sighed at the sight, knowing that letting their wives act together was something dangerous, and yet both of them looked at each other with a smile.
“I’ve missed this, brother.”
“Me too, Dimitri.”
Ivan watched the two women disappear behind the reinforced doors, their laughter echoing faintly down the hall like sirens in the dark. The tension in the room loosened immediately, but the veterans of the Moonlight Alliance all shared the same grim thought.
Whoever those two interrogated wouldn’t see another dawn.
“Those poor bastards don’t know what’s coming.” Dimitri mused, swirling the blood wine in his glass. “Your wife and mine together again? Even Alucard himself would beg for mercy.”
“Maybe that’s the point,” Ivan replied, his gaze hardening. “If someone sold us out, I want every drop of their blood screaming before it dries.” His silver eyes flicked toward the balcony overlooking the snow-coated courtyard. “We’ve buried too many good people to let this go unpunished.”
The faint hum of the chandeliers mingled with the murmurs of the guests, and once Nagisa and Elizabeth’s laughter faded as the muffled sound of a steel door locking, everyone else became serious.
“Then shall we go and prepare? I am sure those Vespera fools are desperately trying to use their shadows to escape right now.”
“Yeah, we should. I don’t want any needless stress.”
“Come, everyone, it’s time to find the traitor!” Dimitri yelled as he tapped his glass using his claw.
The two fathers wanted to do everything for their wives, but the main reason they did this was for their son and daughter, who needed to rest.
“I can’t wait to see my cute Kita who became a mother~ it makes me feel old.”
“You and me both, Dimitri.”
Thus, the party atmosphere faded, and the time for answers came.
