Born In Ashes: The Enigma
Chapter 247: Use Of Causality Points
CHAPTER 247: USE OF CAUSALITY POINTS
(You can now use Causality Points)
Azrael was taken aback when the sudden notification flashed before his eyes.
But as he read it, he immediately recalled the 100 Causality Points he had obtained after killing Boris.
"Can I finally use them?" He murmured, raising an eyebrow in surprise as he opened his Status Window.
When he looked at his status window, he saw that below the tab of Task Points, a new section had appeared:
---) Causality Points: 100
"Why did they appear just now?" He muttered with a confused look on his face.
After killing Boris, Azrael had checked his status window multiple times, but at that time, there was no mention of Causality Points.
Yet now, out of nowhere, the points had suddenly appeared.
’Is it because I formed a contract with the Fragment of Abyss?’ He thought to himself, though he quickly dismissed the idea.
After all, he had received those points for killing Boris, and the Abyss had no connection to him whatsoever.
According to Azrael’s guess, the reason he had received Causality Points might be related to his class skill, Absolute Decree.
It had been the first time he used that ability on someone, and immediately after killing the target, he received those points.
Aside from the Absolute Decree, he couldn’t think of any other possible explanation.
Although he wasn’t one hundred percent sure about his guess, Azrael decided to set the matter aside for now and focused on figuring out how to use the causality points.
He concentrated on the Causality Points tab in his status window, and instantly, an information window appeared before him.
====
---) Causality Points: Can be used to defy existing rules and bring your simple wishes into reality.
====
"Huh?" Azrael frowned slightly as he read the information, his tone filled with confusion.
"Defy the rules and bring my simple wishes into reality..." He muttered, puzzled by the vague description.
He pondered for a moment before thinking of something and spoke softly, "I want to become a Legend-rank warrior immediately."
Azrael waited several seconds after speaking his wish, but nothing happened.
"Was I wrong?" He muttered under his breath, sounding slightly embarrassed yet relieved that no one else was around to see him.
Just as he was considering trying a different approach—
(You don’t have enough Causality Points to fulfill your wish.)
A new notification appeared before his eyes, freezing him on the spot.
"Fu*k... it really worked..." Azrael nearly shouted in disbelief and even with his usually composed demeanor, he couldn’t help but curse, his mind spinning in shock.
Although his wish hadn’t been granted, the notification itself confirmed that his assumption was correct.
It was possible.
As long as he had enough Causality Points, he could actually ascend to the rank of a Legend warrior in an instant.
"This is insane... Is something like this even possible?" He whispered, staring at the glowing notification with wide eyes.
Even though he was witnessing it firsthand, the realization still felt unreal, almost too terrifying to comprehend.
Taking a few deep breaths to calm his racing heart, Azrael thought for a moment before making another wish.
"I want to break through to Epic-level warrior immediately."
A few seconds later—
(Do you wish to consume 25 points of Causality to fulfill your wish and break through to Epic level?)
[Yes / No]
Seeing the notification, Azrael’s breath hitched, and he had to muster all his willpower to stop himself from laughing out loud.
He chose No, and the notification vanished.
Of course, he wasn’t stupid. He wouldn’t waste such precious points just to reach the Epic rank when he was already Level 25 and could easily advance after returning, simply by taking a special potion.
He reopened the details of the Causality Points and read them again carefully.

---) Causality Points: Can be used to defy existing rules and bring your simple wishes into reality.
====
"Simple wishes..." Azrael repeated softly, his voice barely above a whisper. Then he tried again.
"I want to become a Cosmic King-rank warrior."
(This wish can’t be fulfilled.)
"Not enough points? No... it said it can’t be fulfilled," Azrael muttered, frowning slightly. "Does that mean becoming a Cosmic King-rank warrior isn’t considered a simple wish?"
He raised an eyebrow, deep in thought.
"There is no information in the status window specifying what counts as a simple wish. I’ll have to figure out the limits of these Causality Points myself."
For the next few hours, Azrael began to test the boundaries of what he could and couldn’t do with the points.
However, even after repeated trials, he couldn’t fully understand their limits.
For instance, when he wished for an Epic-level artifact that could protect him from curses, poison, and other abnormal status effects, he received a notification stating that the wish couldn’t be fulfilled.
But when he wished for a normal Epic-rank artifact that merely increased his Strength stat, the notification informed him that he didn’t have enough points, implying that the wish was indeed possible, but he lacked sufficient Causality Points to make it happen.
This confirmed that he could obtain Epic-level artifacts using Causality Points, though not every kind of artifact fell within the system’s definition of a simple wish.
The same goes for Legend Level artifacts. He could get some, but not every kind.
He also experimented with using the points in different ways. For example, when he wished to teleport from his room to the control room of the spaceship, the system responded that it could be done by consuming 13 points.
However, when he tried to teleport to a faraway place like Planet Arkanis, the notification informed him that the wish couldn’t be fulfilled.
"It’s going to take quite some time to fully understand the limits of these Causality Points..." Azrael muttered under his breath as he sat down on the bed.
Yet, despite all his experiments, the question that now weighed most heavily on his mind was something entirely different.
"What exactly was the reason I received Causality Points after killing Boris?"
