CHAPTER 340: CHAPTER 340: MIA’S CALL

Her words stung, but Aurora had already left. She did not hear them.

The other students glanced at each other. Some remained silent, uncomfortable with Diana’s cruelty. But others whispered quietly, agreeing.

"Aurora’s family background is decent, but it’s not that high. Compared to Spencer’s family, she is far behind."

"True. Why would she give him up? She must be stupid. Spencer is an heir to a powerful family."

One by one, their whispers spread through the classroom like wildfire.

The news of Aurora and Spencer’s breakup was no longer just gossip. It was a storm that would spread through the entire school by tomorrow.

Far away from all that noise, Aurora and Spencer had quietly slipped into a hotel room. The second the door shut behind them, the mask Aurora had been wearing shattered.

She burst into tears as if she had been holding everything inside. Spencer wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into his chest. His hand moved up and down her back, slow and gentle, like he was trying to comfort a little child.

"Shh," Spencer whispered. "Do not cry so much. If you cry too much, your face will get swollen. Then you will look ugly."

Aurora froze for a second at his words. Her cheeks burned, and without thinking, she bit his shoulder hard. Spencer winced, his body jolting a little, but he did not push her away.

Instead, he smiled bitterly in his heart. He realized he had made the mistake of teasing his girlfriend when she was not in the mood.

"Alright," he said softly. "I was wrong. I was only acting, Aurora. Everything back there was just a show. None of it was real. You know that, right?"

Aurora lifted her face, her cheeks wet with tears. She tried to nod, but the image of Spencer’s hateful words in front of the class still played again and again in her mind.

Even though she knew it was all fake, it hurt so badly that she could not forget it.

Her sobs grew louder. Spencer’s chest tightened. His heart hurt as he watched her crumble like that. He could not stand it anymore.

He pulled back slightly, cupped her face, and leaned down. His lips pressed against hers in a long, gentle kiss.

Aurora stiffened at first, but slowly, she melted into the kiss. Her cries quieted, and she began to calm down.

Spencer kissed her carefully, as if he was afraid she might break if he pushed too hard.

After a long while, he pulled away and asked softly, "Do you feel better now?"

Aurora paused, her eyes still watery. She did not want to admit how much better she felt after the kiss.

So she quickly said,

"I am not very attached to you. It is not like you are that important. I was just crying because you shouted at me. Nobody ever shouted at me before. That is all."

Spencer raised an eyebrow, staring at her carefully. He knew she was lying. Many people had shouted at Aurora before, and she had always stood her ground.

She was not the type of girl to cry easily. But Spencer decided not to expose her lie. Instead, he nodded and patted her back again.

"Yes," he said calmly. "That must be it."

Aurora let out a small sigh of relief when she saw he did not press further. She wiped her tears and asked, "When are you leaving?"

Spencer tilted his head and gave her a questioning look. "Do you want me to leave right away?"

Aurora quickly shook her head. "No, that is not what I mean. I just... I just want to be prepared in advance. I want to see you off for the last time."

Spencer shook his head slowly. "It would be better if we do not meet before I leave. If we do, people will notice. They are already keeping an eye on me. If they see us together again, our act will not work."

Aurora bit her lip, hesitating. Then she nodded, even though her heart felt heavy. She wiped her face again and said firmly, "Fine. But you must keep in contact. You have to send me a message every single day. If you forget even once, I will come and bite you again."

Spencer chuckled at her words and touched the spot where she had bitten him earlier. "Do not worry. I will not forget. I promise."

Aurora finally smiled a little and nodded. But before she could say anything more, her phone began to ring. She glanced at the screen and saw Mia’s name flashing.

She was about to answer quickly when Spencer stopped her. "Be careful," he reminded her. "She must have heard about our breakup scene. Do not let her get suspicious."

Aurora bit her lip again and nodded. She took a deep breath, then answered.

"Aurora!" Mia’s voice came from the other side, full of concern. "Are you alright? I just heard... Is it true?"

Aurora forced her voice to sound weak. "I am fine. Just... a little sad. I will be back at school soon."

"Do you need me to come over? You can cry on my shoulder if you want," Mia said quickly.

Aurora shook her head even though Mia could not see her. "No. I do not need that. Just... please tell the teacher I will not be coming to school for the next two days. Say I am sick."

Mia hesitated but nodded. "Alright. But where are you now? If you will not tell me, I can come to you."

Aurora’s grip tightened on the phone. "No. I cannot meet anyone now. I am not in the mood."

Mia finally gave up and said softly, "Fine. I will not trouble you. But if you still do not call me after two days, I will come to you myself."

Aurora’s heart warmed at her friend’s words. "Thank you, Mia," she whispered before hanging up.

After the call ended, Mia frowned deeply at her phone. She decided to go straight to the teacher and report that Aurora would be absent because of sickness.
