Sienna’s POV:

It seemed I was experiencing a lot of firsts this week. My first bite, first kiss, first wet dream and a burning fever. I shook my head. There must be another reason. If I was dying, then I wouldn’t have been walking around like this.

I checked the time. The numbers on my phone screen glowed. It was seven in the evening. How long had I slept for? It felt like I had been asleep for days. I grabbed my phone and dialed Anna. This time, thankfully, she picked up on the first ring. “Sienna?” Her voice was worried.

“Anna, where are you? I need to speak to you, it’s urgent. Why didn’t you call me back?” I had never called her like this before. I had never needed to.

She seemed to pause. “Of course, honey, I’m already home. Juste down, I’m sorry, I just got free.” Her voice was soft.

I pursed my lips and made for my door, my hand on the cool metal of the doorknob, only to pause. Was Mkai still out there? I didn’t want to face him, not like this. But I sighed. I had no choice.

“Alright,” I said, cutting the call. I checked my clothes. I was wearing a T–shirt and sweats. Seemed fine to me. I made my way down the stairs to the living room. There was no sign of him..

“He’s gone?” I asked, my voice hesitant. She frowned, her brows a deep, puzzled crease. “Who?” she said, as if she didn’t know.

I rolled my eyes. “Mkai?”

“Your father? He came?” She asked, sounding bewildered. There was no way she wasn’t aware. “Is that what you wanted to talk about?”

I shook my head. “No. It’s something else.” I said and paused, my mind a chaotic, confused mess. Well, now it was two something elses. “I think I am sick.” I mumbled, hesitantly. She paused, tilting her head to the side, her eyes a careful and searching. “Sick?” She moved forward to touch my forehead. And as though she’d been scalded, she pulled her hand back, her eyes wide with shock. “God. You’re burning up. Wait.” I watched as she pushed off the sofa and ran to the kitchen to grab a thermometer, her movements frantic.

I stopped her. “I already checked. It’s thirty–eight.” The words were soft, I tried not to increase her panic, but it didn’t seem to work. Her eyes widened, her pupils blown wide with shock. “And you’repletely fine? Any other symptoms? When did youst drink blood?”

I pursed my lips, a thin, straight line. “Yeah. About that,” I said, the words a low, hesitant whisper. I knew if I hid it anymore, it would end up causing me and us more trouble. So I decided to juste out with the truth. “I seem to be unable to drink from blood bags anymore.”

She stiffened then as she turned to me, her body rigid. “What do you mean?” She asked.

I frowned, seeing the hint of apprehension and fear on her face. Her eyes were now wide with fear.

“I… I’m not sure myself. I’m sorry I hid this from you, but, I bit a human. And drank from them.” I said. “From

then on, I can’t seem to-” She cut me off and I startled. “Sienna!” Her voice seemed not angry, but like she herself was on the verge of breaking down.

“Oh god.” She said, her head touching her forehead. “Who was it? Who the hell was it! I’m going to kill him.” She said, and my blood ran cold at her words. Her eyes, which had been a soft, warm brown, now turned a zing, furious red.

My mouth seemed to go dry as I looked at her. I was contemting. Kill him? Why? What was happening?

“Anna… what are you talking about? Why would you kill him?” I asked as I pushed myself off the sofa, my body trembling slightly. I hadn’t even realized how strangely, I myself was reacting. How much I was feeling, unlike before.

“Sienna. You should have told me if the blood bags weren’t enough! I would have brought someone reliable. Why did you go and bite a damn wolf!” She said, her voice a low, angry hiss. Then she froze, a sudden, powerful jolt of shock. “Wait… you said before… you asked me why a person would remember if they’re bitten. You were talking about—”

I shook my head. “It was just a question.” Damn it. I didn’t expect her to connect the dots so easily, and now why was she having a meltdown? Was it really so bad?

“And what do you mean a wolf? What does that have anything to do with me being unable to drink from blood bags?” I asked, confused.

She sighed as she plopped down on the couch. “Damn it. It’s like history repeating itself.”

I froze, my brows furrowing, a cold, hard knot of fear coiling in my stomach.

“This happened to Mkai. Your father… if you drink from a wolf… there is a chance, a small chance, but a chance nheless that they will imprint on you.” She said, her voice low and quiet. I stiffened.

“You’re saying… the person I bit, imprinted on me?” I asked with a frown, my voice a quiet, bewildered whisper. She nodded and then she froze.

She turned to me, her eyes narrowing, as though a realization had dawned on her. “You haven’t had your heat yet, have you?” She asked. I frowned and shook my head. “No.”

Heat? I’m going into heat? Was that why I had that wet dream? Was that why my body was burning up?

I was told when I was young that I might go through it as a hybrid. But no one could be sure, because my case was an extremely rare one.

“Maybe that’s what this is then.” She said and sighed, wearily. “To be honest, even though you’re half–wolf, I didn’t expect you’d go into heat. Since your designation was unclear. No one could tell if you were a beta or an omega.”

I shook my head.

“Are you sure? Is there a way to confirm it?” I asked. She nodded. “I’ll ask your grandfather to send a doctor. Then she paused, her eyes, for a brief moment, softening with a sh of something akin to pity. “And you…. need to tell me who did this. Who’s blood did you drink?” She asked and I pursed my lips. My mind was a chaotic, confused messb. /b

I contemted for a long while before I said, “I’m… not sure.” The words were a soft, unconvincing lie.

She frowned. “Sienna… you do realize that now that he’s imprinted on you. You can’t easily drink anyone’s blood but his.” My gut clenched at her words.
