“I am.” Heriberto nodded hard, looking at Isabe, “I am your and Zeke’s dad.”

“Zeke, he was Dad, I wasn’t wrong!” Isabe immediately shouted happily.

Ezekiel finally looked up at Heriberto again and asked him a soul- searching question, “You’re our dad, so why haven’t we ever seen you before?”

“Yeah, Dad, where did you go?” Isabe asked too.

“Sorry, Zeke, Be, sorry!” Heriberto reached out and hugged Isabe.

Isabe usually never let strangers touch her, but she didn’t refuse him at all.

“Baby, it was Daddy’s fault. Daddy had something to do, went out for a fun trip, and only got back yesterday.” Heriberto said, his eyes getting a little teary again.
