CHAPTER 402: 222 HOW DOES HE HAVE THE FACE TO ASK? (9,000 WORDS)
After a short while, Daniel Parker called.
"Charlotte Miller is back. She will be hosting the executive meeting at Currency City at 3 PM today." Daniel received this news after Atlas Hallow had boarded the plane.
In Ethan Baird’s company, Daniel had positioned a few informants just to gather some news about Charlotte.
Back when his boss had that terrible accident and wasn’t fully recovered, he kept flying to the United States, only to suspect that Charlotte might be hiding domestically when she couldn’t be found in the U.S. They searched everywhere they could think of. Over the past three years, his boss was restless, and he hadn’t been able to relax either.
But now that Charlotte is back, things are bound to get stirred up again, right?
Charlotte certainly won’t change her mind, and the boss will definitely continue to relentlessly pursue her; this is an invisible and frightening struggle.
Judging by how Charlotte returned, it seemed like she didn’t care about his boss at all, let alone give any prior notice.
Daniel always thought that if Charlotte came back, she would avoid his boss like the plague, but she appeared so straightforwardly in everyone’s view, it was indeed quite odd.
Was she prepared for this?
But no matter how prepared she was, it wouldn’t matter; she hadn’t truly seen the hidden side of his boss, otherwise, she wouldn’t have so easily returned to the country.
It seems these days, they need to be more vigilant as a lot is likely to happen.
When Atlas Hallow received Daniel’s call, the feeling in his heart was beyond what could be described as shock.
Has she really just come back like that? Did she come looking for him, or is she simply passing through on business?
Everything about Charlotte seemed like a mystery to him. After three years of disappearance, she just seemed to drop in from the sky, leaving him unprepared and missing her once again.
Atlas rushed back without a moment’s rest just to see her once more.
He had so much he wanted to say to her, but this young girl’s temperament was too strong, and she remained indifferent.
She said men have an expiry date for her, but hadn’t Jack Smith tangled with her for years?
This little trickster, the thought of these things made Atlas feel as if there was a fire in his chest, ready to erupt like a volcano.
Can Jack Smith maintain that freshness indefinitely?
Was she so fond of Jack Smith that she even helped orchestrate North Culture’s rapid listing domestically?
To go all out for another man, this truly made Atlas furious to the point of spitting blood.
The itinerary of his day was pretty much like this: after stepping off the plane, he drove fast to the hotel but didn’t find anyone.
Now, he was driving fast back to the airport, boarding a plane again, heading back to the city where he was because Charlotte was already there.
"Send someone to watch her, don’t let her leave." Atlas gave this order to Daniel before boarding the flight; he didn’t want to come back only to find that she had disappeared again.
As the plane took off, soaring through layers of clouds, it was already springtime.
Through the airplane window, he seemingly saw a brilliance of spring. The year he left, it was just as bright, remembering her disappearance during that hospital visit years ago, it felt as if his heart was missing a piece that would never be whole again.
Daniel hung up and felt like cursing...
Every time his boss issued some strange command, he wanted to curse but didn’t dare do it in front of his boss.
Send someone to watch and not let her leave? Does he need to find someone for that? If Charlotte wanted to leave, it would be him who would have to stop her.
But if Charlotte had already reached the airport, could he rush up and stop the plane?
He wasn’t the control tower at the airport; could he make the plane not take off?
If forcibly detained and one day his boss and the former boss’s lady rekindled their relationship, wouldn’t he be in deep trouble?
But however much he grumbled, he couldn’t show any dissatisfaction, and he still agreed.
He hoped Charlotte wouldn’t run away again before the boss returned. Playing this game of hide-and-seek too much was really not good for the heart.
But upon calming down and calculating the time carefully, Charlotte should still be there when the boss returns.
The boss flew there and then rushed back; it was only a matter of three hours, and Charlotte couldn’t finish the meeting immediately, and the meeting wouldn’t start right away either; it was an hour or more before it began.
