As I followed Nika into the demon realm after retrieving an item from Elissier at the academy, I found myself deep in thought.

The most likely scenario was that the demon sword had corrupted his mind, much like it did with Astaroth, compelling him to seek my death. But I couldn't be completely certain.

Neither the Dullahan nor the demon sword knew that I was the masked man. If the sword's intent was to kill Mira Creighton, it would have launched a direct assault on the empire rather than sending a succubus to fetch a masked man.

Of course, given that he sought out the succubus only to attack them mercilessly, resulting in heavy casualties, it was clear he wasn't in his right mind.

Nika halted near a cliffside in a forest, a precarious border between human territory and the demon realm. As soon as the Succubus Queen returned, the succubi who had been hiding in a makeshift shelter began to emerge, but their numbers had drastically dwindled.

Astaroth had been a "legion" commander in the truest sense, and his succubi had numbered enough to warrant the title. Now, there were barely more than a hundred.

"Is this everyone?"

"Yes, these are the ones I barely managed to save. The rest..."

The succubi, suffering from extreme energy depletion, gathered around me, their thighs rubbing together, and some pressing their lower abdomens in desperation. I noticed that those whose names I knew, the ones who had lived in Nika’s former residence, had mostly survived. That included Priscilla’s sister, who, despite being bound and tormented, was still clinging to life, albeit in a half-crazed state.
