Chapter 63 - Villain: How Am I Supposed to Enter the Classroom With No Door?!
As soon as Bai Wan entered the Nightmare Haunted Campus, a prompt appeared in his mind.
[You have entered the dungeon: Nightmare Haunted Campus. Please abide by the following rules:
Player Bai Wan is assigned the identity of student Lu Yuan. Please report to Classroom 204 in the Main Academic Building before 8:00. Late arrival is at your own risk.]
After glancing through the rules, Bai Wan quickly understood the basic mechanics of the game.
When you’re under surveillance, players have to act all friendly, like perfect classmates. But outside camera range? It’s a no-holds-barred deathmatch.
More importantly, everyone must convincingly roleplay as a paranormal entity—because if the real ones find out you’re faking it, they’ll tear you to shreds.
Bai Wan glanced at the white cord tied around his right arm—his team-good identifier. Those wearing black cords were from the evil-side.
A quick look at the time told him it was already 7:30. He had to be in the classroom before 8:00—who knew what would happen if he was late.
Not daring to waste a second, Bai Wan followed the signs pointing toward the Main Academic Building.
But before he got far, a woman wearing a black cord stepped in front of him. She was tall, with long, beautiful legs, and an attractive face to match.
She gave Bai Wan a once-over, her gaze lingering on the photo strapped to his back, then smiled. “So you’re the legendary Family Man? I’m Yang Yujie—my game ID’s ‘I’mTheOneeSan’ Heh… Little brother, I’ve been dying to meet you.”
Bai Wan noticed her staring at the photo strapped behind him and instantly realized his identity had been exposed.
After clearing a dungeon, players can choose to leak certain information—if they’re willing to pay the Paranormal Coin price. The more valuable the intel, the higher the cost. But minor things, like the photo on his back, were cheap to leak… or even free. So it was inevitable.
Looks like I’ll have to start covering that photo in the future.
And with that, the acting began.
Bai Wan’s face twisted in terror as he stared at the sultry woman before him. “P-Please don’t kill me, pretty lady… I—I’ll give you as many Paranormal Coins as you want…”
Yang Yujie chuckled at his terrified expression.
Looks like the Family is talented, sure—but he’s still just a newbie. Even if he cleared an unsolvable dungeon, so what? She’d already cleared seven. Compared to her, he’s not even on the same level.
He must be feeling absolutely hopeless right now.
“Such a sweet little mouth,” she purred. “But you’re just too tempting. Even if I don’t act, someone else will. Wouldn’t you rather it be me, little brother?”
She slowly stepped closer, her long legs swaying.
Bai Wan backed away in panic. “C-Can’t you please just let me go…?”
Yang Yujie smiled. “Don’t be scared, Liu Tong. We’re under surveillance—I can’t touch you here anyway.”
“Liu Tong?” Bai Wan blinked.
Yang Yujie grinned and leaned in. “Silly boy, I read the forums. Your parents gave you that name so you’d retain your childlike innocence, right?”
Bai Wan froze for a second—then nodded earnestly. “Y-Yeah! That’s totally true!”
Crap… I forgot I made up that lie in the last dungeon…
“Please, big sis,” he pleaded, eyes watery. “My parents are counting on me to keep my childlike heart alive and push forward bravely…”
The look on his face was pitiful to the extreme.
Yang Yujie felt a growing urge to mess with him. Letting go of such a fat piece of meat? No way. She reached out, lifted his chin with one finger, and teased, “I could let you go… if you sign a slave contract and swear to serve me for all eternity.”
Bai Wan blinked, then looked delighted. “R-Really, Big Sis?”
“...???”
Yang Yujie was completely thrown off. What the hell was with this reaction?
She just wanted to tease him. Why did he look like she’d just handed him a winning lottery ticket?
Before she could recover, another player with a black cord approached with a smug expression.
He was tall and built like a bodybuilder—kinda like Wang Meng. He gave Yang Yujie a disapproving look. “Yujie, hogging all the meat for yourself isn’t cool.”
Then he turned to Bai Wan and politely introduced himself. “Hello, Family. Really, thank you. I was drowning in mortgage debt, but now I’ve got hope again—thanks to you. I’m Wu Di. My in-game name is ‘DownWithTheSystem.’”
Bai Wan eyed him and snorted internally. What is it with every villain acting like a sarcasm gremlin?
“You guys… really won’t let me go?” he asked with a trembling voice.
Wu Di grinned wickedly. “Just off yourself, Liu Tong. I’ll even let you keep your corpse intact and won’t hurt your family. Otherwise, I’ll track them down in real life. You don’t want that, do you?”
Bai Wan didn’t respond—but the people inside the photo on his back were already losing it.
“Hmph! Look at that big oaf, clearly up to no good. Lil’ Wan, take him out first!” Grandpa Bai shouted.
“Damn right! He wants to kill me? Let him try! I’ll tie one hand behind my back!” snarled Zhang Yanfang from inside the painting. If she could get out, she wouldn’t even need her husband—she’d solo this loser.
“Okay, okay, shut up already, you’re being really annoying,” Bai Wan muttered to the photo.
Yang Yujie and Wu Di both froze. Who was he talking to?
“Ahem. Nothing, Brother Wu. My family’s just really fond of you. They keep reminding me to think of you always.”
“...Huh?” Wu Di blinked.
Has this guy lost his mind from fear?
“Alright, let’s move,” Yang Yujie said, regaining her composure. “We need to be in class before 8. Wouldn’t want to break the rules.”
Wu Di nodded. No point wasting time here—just find a camera blind spot later and finish him off.
…
The three of them proceeded to the Main Academic Building and soon found Classroom 204. It was already packed.
Yang Yujie, walking in front, entered the classroom first. Bai Wan and Wu Di followed.
At the front of the class stood a bespectacled woman—but what made her especially unsettling was that she only had one eye. The other socket was empty, as if the eye had never existed.
She fixed her remaining eye on them and said coldly, “You three were the last. Take your seats.”
Wu Di glanced at the time—7:53. He didn’t dare delay any further and stepped toward the door.
Only… Bai Wan suddenly stepped in ahead of him and casually swiped his hand across the door.
Schlick.
The door vanished on the spot. In full view of everyone… it just turned into a wall.
Wu Di: “???”
He stared, stunned.
What the f—where’s the freaking door?! How the hell am I supposed to get in now?!
