Chapter 391 The Shallow Water Embarrassment

Kirby’s POV

10 Pearls

On the boat, Leslie’s sweet pine–scented pheromones drifted into my nose, and my mood instantly lifted.

The vastke stretched around us, its beauty breathtaking.

Lance let out a satisfied grunt and suggested, “Nice view. Perfect time ito /isay something sweet.”

I nced at Leslie, then tried, my voice gentle. “Have you ever thought about where we’d go our honeymoon after we’re married?”

I noticed the fake rowing at the front–Carl–flinch slightly before quickly lowering his head to keep rowing.

The cameraman shrank into a corner, suppressing his presence.

Hmph, at least he knew his ce.

Lance growled, “Forget them. Focus on winning over your woman!”

Leslie’s brow twitched, her face cooling. “Anywhere, as long as you’re not there.”

The words stabbed like a knife, sinking straight into

my

chest.

Lance reminded me, “She’s just mad at you. Don’t fall for it!”

Then the boat, which had been gliding smoothly, suddenly rocked.

My lips pressed into a thin line as I shot a re at Carl. Rage boiled in me.

That bastard did it on purpose!

But Leslie lost patience, reaching for an oar. “Carl, let me help.”

Carl scrambled to agree. “Sure!”

My face darkened further. I snatched the oar from her hand, my tone heavy. “I’ll do it.”

She was a princess. How could she do such rough work?

Lance praised, “Yes, show your strength through rowing!”

I sat opposite and took the oars.

Leslie eyed me skeptically. “Do you even know how?”

I sneered. “I can pilot a yacht. You think I can’t manage something this primitive?”

I dipped the oars into the water, gathering alpha strength. Just as I pushed, I felt some resistance–probably a stone under the river.

I ignored it. No obstacle was worth worrying about when faced with my wolf’s strength.

I shoved hard to break through.

But suddenly Carl let out a scream and toppled straight into the water with a ssh.

I froze. Wait… had the resistance been his oar?

Pathetic weakling.

Carl iled in the water, yelling, “Help!”

Leslie panicked, shooting me a re, silently urging me to do something.

My expression soured. I cursed him a thousand times in my head.

I red coldly at his thrashing and couldn’t stop myself from mocking, “If you don’t want to die, then stand up already!”

Who was he trying to fool?

Carl suddenly stiffened, then slowly stood up under everyone’s gaze.

The water only reached his waist.

The silence was so awkward it almost solidified.

I smirked, while Lance roared withughter. “Ha! What a disgrace!”

Leslie pressed her lips together, relief flickering in her eyes, though her gaze at Carl wasplicated–like she was staring at an idiot. She chuckled lightly to smooth things over. “Guess it’s shallow. Do you want to change clothes?”

Carl’s face flushed. “N-no… no need.”

I gave a cold snort. “Fine then, push the boat from the water. Thanks to you, we’ll lose this round for sure.”

Losing to a team without men–who’d be shamed then?

Lance cursed inside my head. “This is all your fault. Couldn’t even row properly, and you still acted tough!”

Leslie frowned, about to speak, then her eyes suddenly sharpened. “Wait–did your oar get tangled with Carl’s?”

My expression faltered, my eyes flickering.

She pressed, “You really don’t know how to row, do you?”

Her words tightened the corners of my lips. Lance howled, “You’ve been exposed, you idiot!”

I nced at Carl trudging along in the water, pushing the boat, and cleared my throat stubbornly. “Of course I know. I can even pilot a yacht.”

Leslie shot me a frosty look, her pine scent turning sharp and cold, clearly unconvinced.

When we reached shore, Kelly, Sandra, Cynthia, and Chloe were celebrating their group’s win. Kelly was mingling with them naturally now, fitting in more and more.

Someone handed me a bottle of water. I took it, intending to give it to Leslie–only to see her reaching out to help Carl up from the water. Her voice was gentle with concern. “You okay? Go shower and change before you catch a chill.”
