CHAPTER 19: CHAPTER 19: THE GU FAMILY IN BEICHENG, LOST A TREASURE
Grandma Chen sighed. "It’s your mother, after all. Just humor her this once. When you go, don’t talk back to your elders. If there’s something you don’t want to do, then don’t do it."
Gu Anxi sliced the apple into eight pieces, each almost the same size. They looked quite beautiful. She put the knife down and then said slowly, "I knew you would take her side."
Grandma Chen still looked at her with tenderness. For these twenty years, she had lived for Anxi. Her Anxi, perfect, better than others in every way. It’s just that she’s somewhat rebellious now. She wouldn’t talk about what she had gone through. She used to be such an open-hearted child, but now she barely spoke.
Not wanting to upset Grandma Chen, Gu Anxi went downstairs. Wang Keru was waiting for her in the car. Gu Anxi walked over, opened the car door, and sat in the passenger seat.
Wang Keru’s expression softened slightly. "Behave yourself later."
Gu Anxi didn’t speak, just turned her head to look out the window.
Wang Keru couldn’t resist nagging, "Anxi, if you would just be a little more obedient and put in a little more effort, Shen Wanqing wouldn’t be an issue at all."
This came from her confidence in Gu Anxi’s looks, but Wang Keru didn’t know that, among Gu Anxi’s many strengths, her appearance was the least remarkable.
The white Bentley slowly drove away. Two slender figures emerged from the inpatient department building.
Feng Mian stared at the departing car, looking thoughtful. "They really don’t look like mother and daughter; they’re not close at all. That young lady is so cold."
Bo Xichen’s ice-blue eyes betrayed no emotion. "Feng Mian, you’re paying too much attention to her."
Feng Mian retorted, "I’m doing it all for you!"
Young Master Bo is actually showing some interest... How rare!
Bo Xichen walked straight towards a small building opposite them—his private laboratory. Feng Mian tried to follow but had the door slammed in his face.
"So stingy," Feng Mian grumbled.
Bo Xichen walked behind a desk and sat down. He looked at a file on the desk, picked it up with his jade-like fingers, and a faint ripple flickered in his ice-blue eyes.
Feng Mian pushed the door open and came in, sitting opposite him and rubbing his nose. "The Chu Family sent people too!"
Bo Xichen looked up, an eyebrow slightly raised.
Feng Mian twirled a pen in his hand. "The third generation of the Chu Family, their most capable brother and sister pair. And the younger sister has already enrolled at Qing University."
"And Chu Ci?" Bo Xichen asked in a low voice, his gaze lowered.
Feng Mian gave a dry laugh. "He’s busy being a big star! He can’t possibly go to Qing University and pretend to be a naive youth too, can he?"
A light chuckle seemed to escape Bo Xichen. Feng Mian continued, "Don’t forget, the Jiang Family also has someone at Qing University. Master Bo, don’t you find it strange? So many people from Beicheng are flocking to Qingcheng, and they’re all pushing their younger generation into Qing University." He sounded a bit gossipy. "I heard that the Gu family of Beicheng lost a treasure in Qingcheng and has been searching for it for many years."
"You want to go to Qing University too?" Bo Xichen countered.
The look in Feng Mian’s eyes was rather peculiar.
Bo Xichen put the file into a drawer and said calmly, "Contact Principal Wang at Qing University. Tell him I want to be a guest professor."
Feng Mian swallowed. "Professor Bo, are you going to teach anatomy?"
"Physiology," Bo Xichen shot him a look. "Any problem with that?"
Feng Mian mumbled, "Of course not... If Professor Bo makes a request, who could possibly refuse?"
Feng Mian left. Bo Xichen sat there, a lock of his hair falling forward, his ice-blue eyes deepening in color.
Qingcheng, just as Fengxi said, was about to face some turmoil.
