CHAPTER 413: CHAPTER 414: IS SECOND UNCLE REALLY HAPPY?

She spoke in such a frail voice, "Dad woke up, he’s fine, and so is Mom."

She hugged his waist. "And you, Little Uncle."

Bo Xichen patted her small head. "Did you miss me?"

She hummed in agreement and nestled her face against him. "Very much."

Bo Xichen stayed with her for a while. Once she had calmed down, he picked her up. "All right, go wash your face. Your father and mother are waiting for you to eat."

Gu Anxi, carried by him, quickly clung to his neck. "Dinner hasn’t started yet? What time is it?"

"It’s only one o’clock." His voice was incredibly gentle. "We’ll sleep a little after the meal."

She made a soft sound of agreement and obediently rested her head on his shoulder, just like a little girl.

Bo Xichen brushed her hair aside, overwhelmed with love...

In the end, he couldn’t resist and called the dining room, telling his parents to eat first. The reason given was... Anxi still hadn’t woken up...

Mr. and Mrs. Bo, being experienced, understood perfectly!

Mrs. Bo beamed, instructing a servant to bring their food to the Orchid Room in an hour and to be sure not to disturb them...

After the servant left, Mrs. Bo couldn’t help but reproach her son for his inconsideration. Bo Nianyao just laughed good-naturedly. "Didn’t we do the same when we were young? Have you forgotten, my dear?"

Mrs. Bo blushed. "At our age, you should be more proper! People will laugh at us."

Bo Nianyao simply laughed. "Nonsense, my dear. You’re still as youthful as a girl."

Mrs. Bo blushed and gave him a sidelong glance, clearly enjoying the affectionate teasing.

Over in the Orchid Room, around three that afternoon, Gu Anxi was nestled against Bo Xichen as they ate their meal together affectionately...

The little pampered darling kept changing her mind, wanting this one moment and that the next, the very picture of a carefree youth.

After the meal, they rested for the afternoon. When they got up, they were brimming with energy once more.

When Gu Anxi woke up, Bo Xichen had already gone to Yunxi Hospital to handle some matters. She got up and went to chat with Mrs. Bo, bringing a small gift she had for Mother Bo, eager to show it off.

She had only run a short distance when she encountered Bo Qing. Gu Anxi stopped. "Uncle Bo Qing."

Bo Qing smiled. "Back from Qingcheng?"

Gu Anxi obediently answered, "Yes, Uncle Bo Qing."

Bo Qing looked at the item in her hand. "Is that something from Qingcheng?" He paused for a moment, then asked, "Nothing for your Uncle Bo Qing?"

Gu Anxi spoke softly, "I’ll bring something for Uncle Bo Qing next time."

Bo Qing smiled. "I heard you accomplished something big in Qingcheng. Uncle Bo Qing... is quite pleased."

Gu Anxi didn’t seem to be in a rush to leave. She paused for a moment, then softly asked, "Uncle Bo Qing, are you truly happy?"

Bo Qing smiled. "Of course."

Gu Anxi took a step forward. "Uncle Bo Qing, do you think an individual is more important, or is everyone else more important... I mean... countless innocent people."

Bo Qing, still smiling, chose not to answer.

Gu Anxi lowered her gaze. "People like the Jiangs and the Gus, who disregard the lives of others for their own selfish desires—do you think that’s right, Uncle Bo Qing?"

Bo Qing gazed down at the young girl, murmuring, "If you believe it’s wrong, then naturally, it is."

Gu Anxi brightened up again. "Thank you, Uncle Bo Qing."

"As long as you’re happy." Bo Qing smiled warmly, then urged her, "Aren’t you going to see Mother Bo? Hurry along now."

Gu Anxi said, "Oh," and obediently trotted off.

As she ran, her eyes began to moisten, and she subtly wiped them.

Bo Qing remained standing in the same spot, silently watching her until she disappeared from view. Only then did he lower his gaze.

This way, she would be happier, right?

In the Bo family, he’d had many opportunities to get closer to what he wanted, but he hadn’t taken them—all because of... her.

That one time she had been gravely injured, she had thought she wouldn’t survive. Crying, she had told him she wanted to return home to Qingcheng.

He had agreed.

He too had thought she wouldn’t make it.

But she had survived. He had trained her, molded her into a top-tier fighter...

He had let her go home. But he had never imagined she would meet Xichen in Qingcheng, and so quickly become part of the Bo family, calling him... Second Uncle.

Bo Qing stood silently for a long time before he slowly turned and left.

...

The next day, Gu Anxi returned to school. After classes, she would visit her father at the hospital and then go home with her uncle.

A few days later, a topic suddenly started trending online:

WK Company was seeking a partner to establish Asia’s largest production company.

This was a significant opportunity. It was common knowledge that WK Company excelled at manufacturing various types of equipment, including medical devices. In fact, the most advanced medical equipment was almost exclusively produced by WK Company.

The Jiang family took this potential collaboration very seriously. They dispatched Jiang Chaoge—a young, beautiful, and knowledgeable doctor—who, they believed, could establish a good rapport with Jack, the heir of WK Company.

Jiang Chaoge made initial contact, and the WK Company representative didn’t outright refuse their overtures. This boosted the Jiang family’s morale significantly, as they saw it as a prime opportunity.

If the Jiang family managed to secure the deal with WK, medical resources would gradually shift in their favor. Although Jiang Bin was also constrained by others, he harbored his own ambitions. Like Gu Yuanshan, he was unwilling to remain subordinate indefinitely.

Jiang Bin knew he had to be wary of Gu Anxi, as she had collaborated with WK Company before. Therefore, he was determined to do everything possible to prevent them from working together again...

Jiang Bin found out that Jack was a flamboyant and amorous young man, and a plan began to form in his mind...
