His underlings stammered, "So, does this mean we’re going straight now?"

"Straight, my ass!" The blond youth slapped one of their heads. "Are we selling our bodies?"

He had a blade of grass dangling from his mouth. "This is called turning over a new leaf," he said.

The underlings understood. For days, their boss had been stationed here, claiming he was waiting to teach that brat a lesson. They had actually believed he intended to rough her up, but it turned out he’d fallen for her.

The blond youth glared at them, his eyes almost popping out. "Next time you see Miss Gu, you call her ’Boss’s Lady,’ understand?"

The underlings stared at the sky, speechless...

The blond youth gazed longingly at the receding white figure.

Gu Anxi returned to the hospital. It was only eight o’clock in the evening.

She still went to Bo Xichen’s lab. He was conducting an experiment.

Gu Anxi changed her clothes and went in. He glanced at her before continuing with his experiment.

She stood watching from the side. Suddenly, he passed the scalpel in his hand to Gu Anxi. "Try to incise this blood vessel. Then, observe the technique used on that other one, and suture this."

Gu Anxi looked at him in surprise.

Bo Xichen gazed at her calmly. "You can do it."

Her hand... it was made for holding a scalpel.

Gu Anxi glanced sideways at him. They were very close, so close she could feel the faint warmth radiating from his body.

She turned her head back, focusing on the instruments beside her, and carefully incised the blood vessel.

Thick blood suddenly sprayed out!

Instinctively, Gu Anxi turned and threw her arms around Bo Xichen.

Bo Xichen lowered his head in surprise, his icy eyes staring at the girl in his arms.

She was hugging him tightly, looking terrified.

Moreover, she felt incredibly delicate in his hold.

A strange feeling stirred in his heart. He patted her shoulder. "Scared?"

Gu Anxi shook her head against his chest. "No."

Her body was trembling slightly. She held on to this man tightly. She could only cling to him. He exuded the warmth she desperately needed.

She had thought she was strong. But when that blood sprayed out, she was reminded of the car accident. Her father, too, had bled so much.

In her memory, everything was red.

Bo Xichen sensed her fear. He took off his medical gloves and gently stroked her head to comfort her. "Don’t be afraid. I’m here."
