Chapter 202: Chapter 214: Seeing with Eyes, Pleasure in Heart (7) Chapter 202: Chapter 214: Seeing with Eyes, Pleasure in Heart (7) Evelyn Osbert’s complexion suddenly turned unpleasant, and after glancing at Elijah Smith, she stood up and said, “I’ll check if the dessert is ready in the kitchen,” and rushed to the kitchen immediately.
Evelyn reappeared soon afterward, carrying an exquisite porcelain bowl and placing it directly in Mrs. Smith’s hands, saying, “Grandma, this is freshly made and contains no sugar. Please give it a try.”
Mrs. Smith smiled and took a spoonful, saying, “This Mango Sago is sweet even without sugar.”
“That’s because of the sweetness of the mangoes. Evelyn went to the fruit market early this morning to pick them out,” Amelia chimed in with a smile. She saw a servant approach with a tray and stood up to serve the porcelain bowls one by one in front of everyone.
Evelyn picked up her bowl of Mango Sago and after taking two bites, she first raised her eyelids to glance at Percy Stanton, who was sitting on the sofa calmly without touching the bowl of Mango Sago. She couldn’t help but ask aloud, “Mr. Stanton, why aren’t you eating? Is it not to your taste?”
Percy remained silent, his gaze fixed on the bowl of Mango Sago.
“Mr. Stanton, if you’d like any other kind of dessert, I can have a servant prepare it right away,” Mrs. Smith asked, putting her own bowl down.
Only then did Percy slowly raise his eyes, looked at Mrs. Smith, seeming somewhat distant as if lost in thought, and said in a casual tone, “No, thank you. I don’t like sweets.”
“I see,” Mrs. Smith replied with a smile, and as she turned her head, she noticed that Isabel hadn’t touched the Mango Sago in front of her either. She frowned and asked, “Isabel, why aren’t you eating either? I remember you used to love mangoes.”
A servant standing behind Mrs. Smith responded, “Old Madam, you are so forgetful. Miss Isabel mysteriously returned home two days before her eighteenth birthday, insisting she would never eat mangoes again. She ordered the mangoes in the house to be thrown away and made Young Master forbid mangoes.”
With the servant’s reminder, Mrs. Smith finally remembered. She turned her head and looked at Isabel, asking, “Why did you suddenly stop eating mangoes?”
Upon hearing this, Percy immediately turned his head toward Isabel, the look in his eyes suddenly becoming complex.
She said she wouldn’t eat mangoes two days before her eighteenth birthday?
Wasn’t that the day after she drank the mango milk tea, kissed him, and caused him to be allergic and hospitalized?
Was her decision related to him?
Percy’s heartbeat seemed to have stopped in a moment; he held his breath and stared closely at Isabel’s profile.
Isabel’s complexion wasn’t pleasant, either. As she stared at the bowl of Mango Sago in front of her, her memory seemed to be pulled back to her eighteenth year. She seemed to see herself the day after Marion’s allergy to mangoes, giving orders in this room to have all the mangoes removed.
At that time, Elijah Smith was squatting nearby, playing with his computer, while Evelyn hid behind the bedroom door, carefully peeking out. Isabel insisted haughtily that no mangoes appear in their house ever again.
Her father’s deep, loving gaze and his gentle, indulgent voice assured her that he would comply with her wishes and ordered the servants never to prepare mangoes again.
