CHAPTER 26: BUNDLE OF JOY

"Sweetie, what happened to you?" Alpha Maxwell asked, panicking.

"Alpha, please stay calm. Put Naomi in bed. Go to the bathroom now. The staff are outside the door and ready to bring Naomi to the clinic. Please do it now!" Zero orders.

"No way! I will bring Naomi to the clinic! I want to make sure she is okay!" Alpha Maxwell insisted, gently lifting Naomi’s unconscious body into his arms.

"Please go to the bathroom now!" Zero commanded.

"No! I’ll bring Naomi to the clinic myself whether you like it or not!" Alpha Maxwell said in a determined tone.

A few moments of silence passed before the door opened.

The staff entered the room. One woman and two bulky men. They have masks on their faces.

"No one can stop me!" Alpha Maxwell growled, giving everyone a death stare. He moved towards the door.

Zero finally said, "Guys, let him pass. Escort them to the clinic," he ordered.

The staff led Alpha Maxwell to the E-vehicle for a short ride to the clinic.

When they arrived at the clinic, Alpha Maxwell insisted on entering the clinic. "I will bring her in."

"Alpha, you are not allowed inside the clinic. You must go back to the room," one of the staff said.

"Get out of my way!" He growled. His eyes shone with murderous intent.

The doctor sighed and said, "Guys, let him in. Just stay outside and guard the door."

Alpha Maxwell stepped into the clinic. The doctor’s assistant was preparing the bed.

"Put her into the bed gently," the doctor ordered.

Alpha Maxwell gently placed Naomi on the bed. "Will she be alright?" he asked anxiously, staring at her pale face.

The doctors had already checked Naomi’s pulse and BP. "She’s breathing fine. She will wake up at any moment."

Alpha Maxwell stood beside the bed, getting in the way of the doctor’s movements.

"Can you please sit in the chair?" the doctor ordered politely. "I will call you if I need assistance," she said.

Alpha Maxwell walked away from the bed and settled into a chair near the door.

Ten minutes later, Naomi finally opened her eyes. "Where am I?" she asked, her eyes roaming around the room.

"You are in the clinic, dear, because you fainted. Your water broke," the doctor said.

"How’s my baby?" Naomi asked right away, worrying about her baby.

"Can you feel your baby’s movement in your belly?" the doctor asked.

"Yes!" Naomi replied.

"Good," the doctor said in relief.

"Ouch!" Naomi screamed as another painful contraction hit her lower abdomen.

The doctor checked the dilation of Naomi’s cervix. "It’s not time yet to give birth," she said calmly.

Naomi’s eyes landed on Alpha Maxwell sitting silently in the corner watching her. She was surprised that he was allowed to leave the windowless room. "Help me," she mouthed.

Alpha Maxwell rushed toward the bed. "I’m here, sweetie. I will stay by your side," he assured her, holding her hand.

Tears of gladness and relief glistened in Naomi’s eyes. "It’s painful," she said tearfully, grimacing as another painful contraction hit her lower abdomen.

The contractions kept coming in a few minutes interval, leaving Naomi gasping in pain.

When the doctor checked her cervix, she said, "I can already see the baby’s head! Pushhhh!" she ordered.

"Ahhhhgggg!" Naomi pushes harder.

"Push harderrr..." the doctor commanded.

"You can do this, sweetie. Our son is coming, pussssh!" Alpha Maxwell encouraged her.

Naomi pushed with all her might.

"The baby is out!" the doctor finally declared.

The beautiful loud crying of the newborn filled the room.

Tears of happiness and relief filled Naomi’s eyes as she gazed at her baby, eyes glowing with love.

Overwhelmed with joy, Alpha Maxwell tears up. He is finally the proud father of a baby boy!

After cleaning the baby, the doctor placed the newborn in Naomi’s arms. "Here he is, such a healthy bouncing baby boy!"

"Thank you, doc." Naomi smiled brightly, kissing her son’s delicate cheeks. "I’m so happy to finally hold you in my arms, my son. Carrying you for nine months in my belly was an amazing experience. You have no idea how happy I am right now."

She showers her son’s head with kisses.

Alpha Maxwell planted a gentle kiss on his son’s head. "Welcome to the world, baby Jacob. Mom and Dad are so happy you finally came into our world. You complete our little family. We love you so much!" He gushed ecstatically. Tears of gratitude and happiness shone in his eyes.

The couple doted on their newborn, smitten by his adorable presence.

Afterward the doctor conducts some tests on both the baby and the mother.

Naomi’s face radiates happiness. Holding her son in her arms for the first time was a wonderful experience like no other. She would treasure this wonderful moment forever.

After a few hours of observation, the full test on the mother and infant came out fine. The doctor finally gave the couple the go signal to return to the windowless room along with their newborn.

It was a joyous occasion for the proud new parents.

Despite the opportunity to escape presenting itself, Alpha Maxwell forgot about it. He was focused on the birth of his son. He couldn’t bring himself to create chaos on the most important day of their lives, the birth of baby Jacob, their little bundle of joy.

Hours and days passed by.

The couple doted on their baby boy. They give all their love and attention to him, making sure the baby is well fed and well taken care of.

Naomi learned to breastfeed her son. She was now a fully pledged mother and a proud one.

Three weeks pass quickly.

Everyday is not all bed of roses for the couple.

There are successive days that Alpha Maxwell stays wide awake during the night to watch over his son who constantly cries at night while Naomi falls asleep due to tiredness. Lack of sleep is every parent’s nightmare.

Baby Jacob would cry if they put him down on the bed or in the bassinet. So the couple would take each turn taking care of the baby and sleeping when it was possible.

Despite feeling tired and sleep deprived the couple doesn’t mind. They would do anything for their son.

"Ah, motherhood is hard." Naomi sighed heavily.

"Yeah, fatherhood is also difficult," Alpha Maxwell agreed.

They looked at each other and smiled. Only the two of them could understand how difficult it is to be a first-time parent.

"But we will do everything for our son, right?" Naomi grinned broadly, proud of bringing such a healthy and adorable baby boy into this world. She never thought that motherhood was very exhausting and demanding; but it was also satisfying and rewarding.

"Yeah, because we love him so much," Alpha Maxwell said, rocking his son gently into his arms.

Naomi smiled, her heart rejoicing as she watched the lovely sight of father and son bonding together. They are a family now.

Their son was born in captivity because of the love that blossomed between her and Alpha Maxwell.

What is the future waiting for them outside?

She sighed heavily.

Alpha Maxwell looked at her. "What’s with the sigh, sweetie?" he asked, studying her face closely.

"Nothing." She quickly shook her head.

He asked, "Why do you look sad and worried? What’s wrong?" He gently put his son on the bed beside them.

"Um, we created a beautiful family during our captivity. Here in this windowless room, we only have each other and our son to think about. But once we return home to our families, things will never be the same again. I’m scared of what’s going to happen to us. The thought of us being separated from each other bothers me. I want us to stay together under one roof," she said, desperate, as anxiety gripped her heart. She felt emotional thinking about their situation.

"Of course, we will always be a family. Just give me enough time to settle everything back home then we will be together again. I will marry you. Before the wedding can take place, I have to get rid of my fiancee first," he said. "And you should do the same to your boyfriend," he added, reminding her of her lover.

"OK," Naomi said. Damn, she almost forgot her boyfriend was waiting for her at home. Ever since she fell in love with Alpha Maxwell, she has already stopped thinking about her boyfriend. He had already faded from her memory. Her feelings for him no longer exist.

The room was enveloped in heavy silence and as both the couple were confronted with the possibility that they might be released anytime soon.

"I have a change of mind. I can’t bear to be separated from our son. He must stay with me," she finally said in a desperate tone.

Alpha Maxwell fell silent. He had already planned everything in advance. He would bring their son to his aunt living in the countryside while he deals with his family and fiancée in the city. "Sweetie, can you take care of our son? Can you assure me you can protect him?" he asked.

"Yes, I will protect him with my life," she replied in a serious tone.

"Your father might find a way to get rid of our son. How are you going to protect him?" Alpha Maxwell asked.

Naomi was taken aback by his question. Indeed, her father’s normal reaction would be that of anger after learning that she had given birth to a baby boy out of wedlock. And worse, if he discovers that Alpha Maxwell is the father of her baby, he would explode in anger.

"Going home sounds terrifying now," Naomi murmured. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.

"Difficult for sure," Alpha Maxwell agreed as he rubbed her back gently, comforting her.

They looked each other in the eyes.

Different thoughts run wild in their minds.

The couple’s happiness at the arrival of their beloved son was now replaced with worry and apprehension.

How are they gonna survive the storm waiting outside?

Naomi suddenly smiled and said, "Let’s stop talking about this stressful stuff because it’s making me sad. I just want to enjoy our moments together. I want to remember this moment, just the three of us living happily in this windowless room," she said cheerfully, trying to suppress the fear and worry growing rapidly in her heart.

Alpha Maxwell gathered her in his arms and kissed her head affectionately. "We will find a way to solve our problem, okay? For now let’s enjoy the moment," he said.

"OK." Naomi rested her head on his shoulder, gazing lovingly at her son’s sleeping form, trying to keep the worry away from her mind.
