CHAPTER 49: HOW DARE YOU?

Alpha Maxwell began pacing back and forth in the middle of the room. He badly wants to see Naomi but Deborah was preventing him from leaving the room.

How will he get out of this situation?

He looks at Deborah’s tear-stained face. He knows her so well. She is a stubborn and possessive woman. She will never let go of him especially now that they have a son together. It was never his intention to get her pregnant. Maybe she stopped taking anti-pregnancy pills while they were intimates in the past.

He needed someone’s help to get Deborah out of his room.

He took a deep breath and walked to the door.

"Where are you going? Are you going to your mistress?" she asked suspiciously.

"Calm down, I’m not going anywhere," he said and put his leather jacket on the chair. ’I’m going to get some drinks from the kitchen," he said calmly and proceeded to the door and exited.

He came face to face with Grandma Franchia and Becca. They were standing outside the door.

"What is wrong, my boy? We heard loud voices. Are you fighting, arguing with each other?" Grandma asked, observing his face closely.

"Yes we are. I told her the truth. She got angry that I broke up with her. She insisted that our wedding should continue despite knowing the truth," he explained wearily.

"Of course she would be pissed because you hurt her feelings. After all she was your fiancée and you had a son together. You promised her marriage before and now that you’re back you should fulfill your promise!" Becca said indignantly, annoyed that her brother was making her friend and sister-in-law miserable.

Alpha Maxwell glowered at his sister. "Stay out of this! You have no idea what you are talking about! Keep your mouth shut!"

"Brother, would you rather marry that woman you met during your captivity? She is the daughter of our enemy, our family will never accept her! Never!" Becca fired back.

"This is none of your business! Stay out of this! " Alpha Maxwell snapped angrily.

"Shh, children calm down." Grandma intervened quickly. "Becca go now and talk to Deborah, convince her to return to her room."

"Copy Grams," Becca scowled at her brother before entering the room.

Grandma pushed her grandson in the direction of the balcony. "My boy, let’s have a talk there. You need fresh air," she said.

Alpha Maxwell sighed and followed her to the balcony. They settled on the sofa.

"Now that you have already revealed the truth to Deborah, what’s next?" Grandma asked.

"She got mad that I broke up with her. I told her she was free to leave the house. I would raise our son all by myself, but she refused. She told me she would never leave my room. She and baby Zed would stay there with me," Alpha Maxwell narrated with a sigh.

Grandma takes a deep breath. "My boy, you can’t kick her out just like that. She loves you so much. She was blinded by her love for you. She will never give you up easily. So you have to take things slowly, don’t rush her..." she said gently, trying to put some sense into his head.

"So, what is the best solution to my problem, Grams? What can you suggest?" Alpha Maxwell asked helplessly.

Grandma sighed. "The same thing, my boy. You are going to have two wives. You will give them equal time and attention. If these women really love you, they must be willing to share you with each other. It is the only way to live in peace and harmony. In short, tell them to agree to your arrangement. Let’s see who will give up and who will stick by your side no matter what. The woman who is willing to agree to that kind of set-up is the one who really loves you. True love requires sacrifice, it doesn’t work without compromise. I learned it the hard way," she said with a gloomy sigh. A deep sigh escaped her lips while gazing at the sky above.

Alpha Maxwell’s forehead creased. "Grams, what’s wrong?" he asked, wondering why his grandmother’s face suddenly turned sad.

Grandma shook her head and smiled warmly, shifting her attention back to her favorite grandson. "My boy, I will help you convince your parents to give you permission to have two wives. This mansion is big enough that it can accommodate all of us. But we can also house your other wife in the recently renovated bungalow house at the back of this mansion. To prevent the two women from constantly seeing each other and avoiding fights from happening. We all can live in harmony for the sake of innocent children. Think wisely. You don’t have to lose one of the women. You can have them both. It’s a win-win for you. What do you think?"

Alpha Maxwell scratched his head in bewilderment, not fully convinced by his grandma’s suggestion. "I can live with that kind of arrangement for the sake of my children. But these women will never compromise. I’m sure of that, especially Deborah who is a possessive and jealous freak woman. She will burn this house down just to make sure she is the only woman standing beside me. She will never agree to your suggestion, Grams," he said with a finality in his tone.

Grandma smiled. "Just try it, my boy. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain. Most of the time I’m always silent in the corner watching everyone do their things. I seldom do anything worth everyone’s attention but when I do something important, I can make fireworks fly in the sky in the middle of the pouring rain." She giggled and erupted in laughter, amused by her own joke.

Alpha Maxwell eyed his grandmother closely and asked, "Grams, are you okay?"

Grandma smiled, her eyes gleaming. "I’m fine, don’t worry about me."

He took a deep breath and stared anxiously at the horizon, wondering what Naomi’s situation was right now. If she obeyed her father’s wishes nothing bad would happen to her. She will only end up marrying her boyfriend. But can he allow Naomi to marry another guy? No way!

He has to get Naomi out of her house ASAP!

But he was grounded and his father had already instructed the guard not to open the gate if he demanded to leave the house.

"Grams, I need your help," he said urgently, standing up.

Startled, Grandma asked, "What kind of help?"

"I will hide in your car. We need to go to Naomi’s house. We will get her out," he said.

Grandma’s eyes widened in shock. "Oh, is that your plan?"

"Yes. If I leave the house they won’t allow me to leave. You can leave the house at anytime though. You will drive while I hide in the trunk of your car," Alpha Maxwell suggested.

Grandma smiled, nodding her head. "Alright, let’s do it. I’ll go to my room and wear proper attire first. Wait for me in the garage. Make sure no one sees you there."

"OK. I’ll go back to my room to get my jacket. My phone was in the pocket of my jacket," Alpha Maxwell said.

They left the balcony and went to their separate rooms.

When Alpha Maxwell entered his bedroom, only Deborah was there. She was standing near the window gazing outside.

Alpha Maxwell ignored her and grabbed his jacket.

Deborah turned around and saw him grabbing his jacket. "Where are you going? Are you going out of the house? If yes, I will go with you," she said, walking towards him.

He looked at her and replied, "You can’t come with me."

She raised a brow. "Why? Are you going to meet your mistress?"

Alpha Maxwell ignored her. He was about to leave the room when he noticed his phone was no longer in the pocket of his jacket. The last thing he remembered was he put it in the pocket of his jacket.

Deborah grinned mischievously. "What’s wrong? Did you lose something?" she asked.

"I’m trying to find my phone," he responded, heading to the table to find it. He checked the desk drawer, the pillows and everywhere else but couldn’t locate his phone. It was gone.

"Try finding your phone in the toilet. I think I saw it there swimming in the water," she suggested wickedly.

Stunned, Alpha Maxwell looked at the bathroom door and then at Deborah. He gave her a murderous look.

"Dammit!" He growls angrily, rushing to the bathroom and there... he finds his phone swimming in the toilet bowl in several parts, totally destroyed. Extreme anger clouds his senses.

He left the bathroom and growled menacingly at Deborah, wanting to throttle her. "Why did you throw my phone in the toilet bowl? Answer me dammit!" he snarled menacingly, grabbing her arms tightly, shaking her so hard she saw stars, his nostrils flaring with anger.

She ignored the pain and looked into his eyes. "Destroying your phone makes up for the betrayal you did to me! It’s still not enough!" she yelled into his face. Her eyes flashed with rage and defiance.

"How dare you?" Alpha Maxwell saw red everywhere. He raised his hand about to strike her face but that was also the moment his sister entered the room and saw everything.

"Guys, baby Zed is crying. I can’t make him stop. You need to change his soiled diaper," Becca said, putting her nephew in Deborah’s arms. She looked at the couple for a few seconds and was about to say something but changed her mind. She hurriedly left the room.

Alpha Maxwell closed his eyes for a few seconds, trying to control his rising temper. He glared at Deborah and gave her a warning look. "Don’t follow me!" He left the room, heading downstairs to the garage area.
