CHAPTER 51: CALM DOWN!

"Calm down, take it easy. The fight is over now and it looks like the civil wedding will not happen tomorrow since you and Zian both have injuries to your faces. They will most likely reschedule the wedding to a later date," Grandma said, patting his shoulder gently to placate his anger.

"Great!" Alpha Maxwell grinned in amusement. "Wow, fighting Zian is a blessing in disguise. I still have enough time to find a way to reach Naomi before the wedding pushes through," he said enthusiastically, his tone laced with gladness.

Grandma rolled her eyes. "Don’t celebrate yet, I could be wrong. And next time don’t fight with your brother ever again. Don’t argue with him to avoid trouble."

"Copy Grams," Alpha Maxwell replied. "Let’s leave now and go to Naomi’s house! Let’s continue our plan!" He said excitedly.

Grandma sighed heavily. "Take a rest first, my boy. I’ll go downstairs to talk to them and find out their plans for tomorrow," she said.

Alpha Maxwell left Grandma Franchia’s room and returned to his room. When he arrived there, Deborah was lying on his bed, and beside her was their son, already wide awake, making cute baby sounds that melted his heart. He wanted to spend time with his son but Deborah wouldn’t give him alone moments with his son, so he had to leave.

Deborah saw the bruises on his face. "What happened to you, hubby?" she asked worriedly.

"It’s because of you and my father! You are rushing the civil wedding and you didn’t even tell me about it! Zian and I got into a fight because of you!" he snarled furiously.

"Why are you blaming me? We were supposed to marry before your disappearance but now that you are back we should continue our wedding. This is the right thing to do because we already have a son!" Deborah shouted indignantly.

Alpha Maxwell ignored her, tired of arguing with her. He went to the closet, picked up a bag and grabbed a handful of clothes and other stuff and dumped them in the bag.

Deborah’s eyes widened in alarm. "Where are you going?" she asked, standing in front of him, blocking his path to the door.

"I’m staying in the guest room. Don’t follow me there! Since you like staying in my room so much, it’s all yours," he said and planted a quick kiss on his son’s cheeks, ready to leave.

He walked towards the door but Deborah blocked the door.

"No, please don’t leave, hubby!" she begged. Tears filled her eyes.

Alpha Maxwell groaned. "What’s the problem, Deb? You already occupied my room. What more do you want?"

"Why are you treating me like this? What have I done to deserve this? All I did was keep on loving you. I stayed loyal and devoted to you despite your absence. I took care of our son well. What else do I need to do to make you love me again?" Deborah asked in a trembling voice. Tears flooded her face. His cold treatment hurt her terribly.

Pissed, Alpha Maxwell raked his hands through his hair. "Can’t you see? Whatever feelings I had for you in the past were already gone. I’m just being true to myself. It’s better that you know how I truly feel about you now so the pain will end here at this very moment! I don’t want to deceive you by pretending everything will be alright between us. Because things have changed. There’s no more us! Our relationship was over. Please move on with your life," he said softly.

"No.... Nooooo! This can’t be! I waited too long for your return and now that you’re here we should get married because we already have a son. This is the right thing to do. I swear, I promise you that after our wedding, you will learn to forget that woman and you will love me again. You have to try to love me again for our son’s sake! He needs a complete family. It’s our responsibility as parents to give him the kind of life he truly deserves!" Deborah begged desperately. She couldn’t lose him. She was the only man she ever loved. She would do anything to keep him by her side.

Alpha Maxwell shakes his head vigorously. "Nah, it will never work. I will set you free because you deserve a good man who will love you unconditionally. I’m sorry I’m not that kind of person. So please stop obsessing about us. Our love story ended long ago. My heart only loved one woman and that is my second chance mate. You should forget about me and open your heart to other people. Forcing me to revive our failed relationship will not be good for your mental and emotional health. Forcing me to love you again by using our son will never work. Leave this house so you can start healing," he said gently, trying to convince her to forget him.

"No! No matter what you say to me. I won’t let you go. You are mine, mine only!" Deborah screamed at the top of her lungs.

Her screams of desperation and anguish echoed around the room, startling her son and making him cry. Her son’s cry jolted Deborah out of her meltdown. She rushed to the bed and immediately picked up her son, pacifying him.

Alpha Maxwell took advantage of the situation and walked towards the door in a big stride.

"Where are you going? If you leave he will die!" Deborah’s menacing voice stopped him in his tracks.

He looked over his shoulder and was horrified to see Deborah standing beside the window, ready to drop their son onto the ground below.

Color drained off Alpha Maxwell’s face. "SHIIT! What are you going to do with our son? Are you going to kill him? Put him down!" he ordered. His heart was beating fast in his rib cage. He needs to convince her to put baby Zed back on the bed quick. Deborah was now mentally unstable.

Grandma Franchia together with Becca who was standing outside the door eavesdropping, pushed open the door and rushed into the room. They were greeted with the horrifying sight of Deborah dangling her crying son’s tiny body outside the window.

"Stop coming, or I’ll drop my son!" Deborah warned them when she noticed they were slowly approaching her location.

"Go downstairs and spread a blanket under the window, get everyone involved! I fear Deborah might accidentally drop the baby anytime soon. Leave now!" Grandma ordered Becca.

Becca immediately left, went to her room and grabbed her blanket. Then she went downstairs, and informed everyone to follow her to the back of the house. "Emergency! Follow me!" She told them when they began asking questions about what they were going to do in the backyard.

They reached the backyard in no time, looking up at the window. Everyone’s eyes widened in shock and horror when they saw Deborah dangling her son outside the window.

"What the hell is going on?" Alpha Nelson asked with trepidation.

"The couple was having a verbal fight inside the room and when Grandma and I entered the room we saw Deborah holding baby Zed outside the window. She meant to drop the baby. I’m not sure if she would really do it or just bluffing, but to be safe, we should spread the blanket wide so we can catch the baby if she accidentally drops him. Bro and Grandma are trying to convince Deborah to put the baby back on the bed. One wrong move and she might drop her son for real," Becca nervously explained, instructing the servants to hold together the ends of the blanket.

"We shall go upstairs to convince Deborah to stop torturing her child," Luna Adela said in extreme distress.

"Let’s go," Alpha Nelson agreed, sporting a grim expression on his face. The couple hurriedly left the backyard and returned to the house.

Back in the room upstairs...

Alpha Maxwell was gaining ground a little, Grandma was behind him, feeling nervous as hell.

"My boy, I’m sure they’ve already secured the blanket down there in the ground but what if Deborah throws the baby a bit far away? I’m sure the blanket won’t be able to save the baby. So, you better tell her now that you will marry her, or else she will turn desperate and hurt your son for real. Do you understand what I’m trying to say?" Grandma whispered into his ear nervously.

Alpha Maxwell stopped moving towards Deborah after realizing she wouldn’t hesitate to throw baby Zed in another direction if she really wanted to.

Grandma sighed. "What are you waiting for, my boy? She might let go of the baby anytime soon, so don’t hesitate! Do the right thing now before you regret you didn’t listen to me. Do it now!" she ordered.

No choice, Alpha Maxwell groaned. He met Deborah’s threatening gaze. "Deb, please listen to me, put our son down on the bed. I will marry you if that’s what you want," he said calmly.

"Noooo! You are lying!" Deborah said angrily.

"I’m not lying. I will marry you, OK? Just put our son down on the bed. I will marry you, I promise," he said, coaxing her in a gentle tone.

Visibly shaken, Deborah looked at the old woman. "Grandma, did you hear him? He promised that he would marry me!"

Grandma Franchia nodded her head. "Yes, I heard what he promised you, dear. So please put the baby down on the bed. OK? I will make sure he marries you. You have my word, I’m your witness," she said calmly and convincingly.

"OK. I trust you and I believe in you." Deborah slowly walked towards the bed and put her son down safely. Her trembling hands and arms ache painfully because her son felt so heavy.

Huge relief washed over him, Alpha Maxwell rushed to the bed and picked up his son, cradling him in his arms securely. "My son, I’m sorry you have to go through this terrible situation. It’s all my fault. I’m so sorry," he apologized, kissing his cheeks in great relief.

"I’ll take Deborah to my room. I will talk to her and calm her down. You take care of the baby," Grandma said, grabbing Deborah’s hands and pulling her gently to the door.

The two women left Alpha Maxwell’s room and proceeded to Grandma’s room.
