CHAPTER 56: I WANT THEM BACK!

"No! I’m not done yet!" Deborah said stubbornly, refusing to leave.

Alpha Maxwell sighed heavily. His plan was to stay the whole day and night outside the gate of Naomi’s house just to see her. He wanted to see her again. He wanted to talk to her parents and discuss the marriage certificate that was legal but was now erased by Deborah’s uncle. He got proof of the legality of his marriage to Naomi. He hoped they would believe him.

But now it looks like Naomi’s parents will never allow him because Deborah was hell bent on making a scene outside the house. And she might use her gun to intimidate anyone who comes out of the gate.

The situation was getting dangerous and the cops might get involved. Things will get messy if they stay longer.

"Naomi! Come out! Talk to me!" Deborah continued shouting, her voice getting louder and louder not caring if she had already caused trouble in the neighborhood.

"Deb, please shut up! You are causing a scene here!" he said, trying to make her calm down.

But Deborah only glared at him. She was too upset and angry to listen to anyone right now. "Let’s finish this once and for all!" she responded with a sneer.

The guard was getting angry because they were making his job harder. "Guys, I’ll give you one last warning. If you don’t leave now, I’ll call the cops!" he warned them.

"Call the cops and someone will die today and you will be that person!" Deborah hissed angrily in the guard’s face.

The guard was astounded by her brazen attitude. "Alright, you asked for it — I’ll call the cops now!"

"Wait!" Alpha Maxwell stopped the guard. "We will leave now!" He finally said. Deborah’s attitude was out of control. He will return here alone next time.

With a heavy sigh, he grabbed Deborah’s arms and said, "Stop shouting Deb. Let’s go home now. Our son is waiting for us in the house. You need to breastfeed him. He needs his mother now," he said in a firm tone.

Deborah stopped talking and stared at his face for a few seconds. "You are not going to see her anymore?"

"I tried but her parents wouldn’t let me see her. So it’s useless. I will go home with you now, our son is waiting for us home," he said gently.

Deborah grinned. She liked the way he had talked to her right now. "You will not return here ever again?" she asked assurance from him.

He knew he had to lie because she would never go home if he told her the truth. "No. You already erased my marriage with Naomi from the public records. Everything I do is useless now so I better go home," he said in a withdrawn tone.

A genuine smile broke on Deborah’s face. "I’m happy you finally realized your mistake. The sooner you accept that you can’t get rid of me — the better for all of us."

She had mellowed down, thanks to his gentle tone, which worked like magic. Her anger was fading fast from her face. He succeeded in calming her.

"Let’s go now," he said, gently pushing her back to her car.

"No, I don’t want to ride in my car. I want to be in your car, just the two of us!" she insists.

"OK, get in the car," he said and glanced at his sister, giving her a nod.

Becca got into Deborah’s car and instructed the driver to drive back to the house.

After Deborah settled comfortably in the front seat, Alpha Maxwell slid into the driver seat and started the engine.

A few minutes later, the car was already moving on the highway.

"Why are you carrying a gun in your bag, Deb?" he asked, his eyes glued to the road.

It’s no use lying, Becca has already told her brother the truth. Deborah replied, "I want to see Naomi and talk to her. I will order her to stay away from you because you are mine. If she doesn’t let you go, I will use the gun to scare her. That’s the truth."

"How dare you?" Alpha Maxwell glared angrily at her.

Deborah looked at him sadly. "I can’t believe we have come to this. This is heartbreaking!" she lamented. Tears of frustration shimmered in her eyes. "Ever since you came back, you have always given me heartache and stress. Why can’t we go back to where we used to be? Why can’t you just marry me and give us a chance to be one happy family?"

Alpha Maxwell felt the pain in her voice. Deborah is a good wife material, loyal and loving but also a very possessive and jealous freak person. At some time in the past his mind was set on marrying her because it was what his family wanted and he thought he would never fall in love again.

But when he meets Naomi everything has changed. He wants a chance at life with her even if he knows Deborah might still be waiting for her back home.

"When are you going to stop doing crazy things, Deb? We already had a son together. Can you be sane for once? You nearly killed our son by dangling him outside the window. Are you crazy?" he asked. His tone was calm but laced with irritation.

She snapped indignantly. "Back to you, hubby. When are you going to stop hurting me? You keep betraying me. I won’t stop making crazy things because in the first place you pushed me to do those things. I will never hurt our son. I love him so much. But you make me angry, and when I’m pissed I can’t control myself. I do extreme things out of jealousy, so you have to do the right thing and marry me. That’s all I ever wanted from you."

She continued ranting. "Once you marry me all the crazy things will end because I have no reason to get angry and jealous anymore. Is that hard to understand? You are the one causing my madness! You started all this!"

Alpha Maxwell heaved a sigh. "It was never my intention to hurt and betray you. Things happened against my will. Naomi and I were forced to do the deed and for that reason we have a child together," he reasoned.

"Let’s say you are right, but that is all over now. You are already free, why do you still want to stay married to that woman? Do you like living with the woman who always reminds you every day of the kidnapping? Those masterminds of your kidnapping reduced you to a puppet. I don’t understand why you are still pursuing that woman when she was clearly planted by those kidnappers to deceive you! You got played by them all!" She said with derision, wanting him to open his eyes and see the truth.

He fell into deep silence.

"I won’t stop pumping words into your thick skull because those kidnappers greatly influenced your decisions and feelings, turning you against me. What kind of kidnapping have you gotten yourself into?" Deborah pressed on, enjoying his silence. When he was silent, it meant he was listening.

"You said you felt in love with Naomi during captivity. That’s given. I understand you because you have no choice. But now that you are free, no one is forcing you to love that woman anymore. Why are you still holding on to the fake illusion that you love her? Why let your kidnappers win? As long as you keep loving that woman you are still mentally and emotionally trapped by those kidnappers. Can’t you see it? Or you refuse to see the truth because you are blinded by your so-called love for that woman? Answer me!" she demanded.

"Can you please shut up while I’m driving? I can’t concentrate," he said to shut her up, sighing heavily because she got a point. The kidnapping was already over and yet he was still trapped in those dark moments of his life because he refused to let go of Naomi and baby Jacob in his heart. He was so enamored by their memories that he felt like he couldn’t live his life without thinking about them every second of the day.

Deborah’s words kept repeating in his mind, drilling a hole in his thick skull.

Is this called mind manipulation or mind control? Are Zero and his bosses manipulating him?

He was no longer living in the windowless room but yet he felt like he was still caged because he couldn’t get Naomi and baby Jacob out of his mind. It was the desperation of wanting something forbidden that was driving him crazy and making his current life chaotic.

He desperately wanted them back in his life but he was powerless to do anything to get them back. Their families are against their union. They both hurt their families’ feelings with their forbidden love affair.

Is this the goal of the mastermind behind their kidnapping to turn them against their families?

If yes, then why? Who are these people? Why would they do this? What is their purpose?

The more he thought about the purpose of the kidnapping the more his head hurt. He shut his eyes for a few seconds, calming his turbulent mind and emotions. When he opened his eyes, Deborah looked at him worriedly.

"Are you okay, hubby?" Deborah asked softly, peering into his eyes.

"I’m fine. I want to go home and sleep in my room because I have a painful headache," he said and drove fast, wanting to reach home immediately and do some soul searching so he could finally take control of his life.

He wants to break free from the mind control that these kidnappers are trapping him in.

He wanted his life back!
