CHAPTER 70: GOODBYE!

When Alpha Maxwell arrived in the living room, Deborah’s eyes were already burning with anger.

"How cruel and inconsiderate are you? You stayed here the whole day forgetting me and our son? What kind of father are you? You doted on your mistress’s son but forgot our son baby Zed. Is this your way of making us feel that we are not needed in your life? Answer me!" Deborah demanded resentfully. A vein almost popped out of her neck.

Alpha Maxwell groaned in displeasure. "Please lower your voice, Deb. This is grandmother’s place, you can’t raise your voice here!" He sternly reprimanded her.

"I don’t care! I will say my piece right now. Your grandmother tolerated your infidelity! That is why you are doing all this to piss me off. If you want to stay here, I will also pack my bags and stay here. Wherever you go, my son and I will follow you," she said, gritting her teeth in anger.

Alpha Maxwell took a deep breath. "Let’s go back to the house. You can’t stay here. You don’t belong here. You will poison this place with your hatred and jealousy," he said, walking towards the door.

"No I will stay here because I know you will keep coming here to be with that bastard baby of yours!" Deborah yelled, livid with anger.

Alpha Maxwell sighed heavily, trying to calm down his rising temper. He doesn’t want to have a verbal fight with Deborah inside his grandmother’s place. He turned around and looked her in the eyes. His eyes flashed with warning. "Let’s go now!" He growled menacingly.

When baby Zed started crying, Deborah reluctantly rose to her feet and followed him outside.

They sat on the bench, glaring at each other.

To stop his son from crying, Alpha Maxwell took him in his arms and kissed his cheeks. "Stop crying, my son. Daddy is holding you now," he said softly.

"If I didn’t come, you wouldn’t pay attention to your first son. You are playing favoritism!" Deborah snapped at him.

"Can you please lower your voice and stop nagging and yelling at me? Can’t you see I’m trying to stop our son from crying?" He silenced her with a death stare.

That did the trick because Deborah shut her mouth and shifted her attention to the colorful flowers in front of her. "I envy the flowers because they look so beautiful, but my heart is bleeding right now. I can’t find any meaning to their beauty. I feel so alone and unloved," she murmured in a distressed tone. Sadness clouded her face.

His jaw clenched in anger. "That’s why you should give up on the wedding because you are no longer happy with you and me. You suffer mentally and emotionally, and you are always angry. You are torturing yourself. You could have walked free and left all this behind. But you are so stubborn. You keep hurting me and hurting yourself in the process as well. That is one thing I don’t understand about you. You still insist on staying by my side and continuing this madness! Let’s end this now!"

"Nooo!" Deborah snapped.

"Think wisely before you marry me. Remember, I’m not forcing you to marry me. It was you who forced me to marry you," he added, trying to convince her to give up on the wedding.

She fell silent, digesting his words carefully.

Deborah laughed, amused. "Nice try, hubby. You think I didn’t know that you were trying your best to convince me to give up our wedding? Hell no! No matter what you say, I already made up my mind that we would get married. Period!" she said in a determined tone.

Alpha Maxwell released a deep sigh. His chest felt hollow and heavy. "Alright, whatever makes you happy, let’s get married as you wish," he said in a withdrawn tone.

Deborah grinned happily. "Finally you agreed. I’m happy right now."

He looked at her, observing her face. She looked happy indeed. "But don’t expect me to be a loving husband to you! I’ll be cold as ice towards you because you deserve it!" he sneered.

The happy expression on her face was gone in an instant, replaced by anger and misery. "So be it. I will try my best to make you see that I’m the right woman for you. I will not get tired of loving you and serving you. I’ll be the best wife you could ever have in this world."

"Then die trying!" he said indignantly. He rose to his feet and walked away, heading back to the house.

Deborah was left alone, gnashing her teeth in anger. Tears of frustration ran down her cheeks in torrents. She watched his back, fading away from her vision.

How can he treat her like this?

How dare he?

Is she wrong for fighting for her love? Fighting to have a complete family for her son to grow up?

All mothers strive to have a perfect family so that their children can grow up in a family filled with love and harmony. That is what she fought for! She’s not only doing it for herself but for her son as well.

Even if Alpha Maxwell is no longer the same guy as before, she still believes that there is still a tiny strand of feeling left in his heart for her. If they are already married, she will try her best to awaken those old feelings buried deep in his heart.

No matter what happens, she will stay married to him forever!

She will only be his one and only wife in this lifetime.

She took a deep breath and stared at the red roses within her reach. So bloody red! Just like the color of her bleeding heart right now.

Sigh.

Enough crying!

She will cry no more.

She wiped tears from her face using her palm. She stood up and left the garden, heading back to the house.

That evening, Alpha Maxwell and Deborah ignored each other, giving each other enough space to breathe.

Alpha Maxwell no longer went to the bungalow to visit her son. He stayed in the guest room, chatting with his beloved Naomi.

Naomi: I love the photos and videos you sent me. Our son looked happy under your grandmother’s care. I feel relieved that he is in good hands now.

Alpha Maxwell: Yeah. I’m glad that our connection to Zero and the facility finally came to an end after I got our son back. Starting today, we will no longer need their help.

Naomi: Yes, so what are we going to do? Aren’t we going to say goodbye to Zero? After all, he’s been a part of our lives lately. We talked to him every day while we were still holed up in the facility.

Alpha Maxwell: Alright, let’s switch to the windowless room to chat with Zero one last time.

Naomi: Okay

The couple switched to the Windowless Lover group chat.

Zero was already waiting for them.

Naomi: Hello Zero

Zero: Hello dear, hello Alpha Maxwell... wazzup? How are you guys?

Naomi: I’m fine. We’re fine.

Zero: Great. By the way I would like to ask about baby Jacob. How is he doing? I hope the adorable boy is adapting well to his new surroundings. I miss that little fellow. Every time I visited him in the facility to take his photos and videos he would smile brightly at me.

Alpha Maxwell: Thanks for asking. My son is doing fine. He was well taken care of by my grandmother and his nanny. Things are so much better now that we have finally got him back. Naomi and I can finally sleep peacefully at night.

Zero: That’s good to know. I’m happy for baby Jacob. At least one of his parents will be there for him every day.

Naomi: Yes. I felt relieved. I might be able to see him one day because we live in the same city. Everything is possible now.

Zero: Yeah, why not? You guys can actually plan a little vacation like meeting in the middle of nowhere to see each other without your partner’s knowledge. Your secret meeting should be discreet and planned well to avoid trouble.

Alpha Maxwell: Zero, by the way... I just want to ask you this question. Why did management decide to release our son to us?

Naomi: Yes, I also want to know why because it puzzles me.

Zero: I’m the one who suggested that they return baby Jacob to you guys because I pity the infant’s condition. He will grow up without his parents by his side. It will be a torture for both of you not knowing the condition of your son in the facility and you can’t see him everyday. Honestly, I didn’t expect management to agree to my suggestion. I’m glad they did.

Naomi: Thank you so much for everything you did for us Zero. You have no idea how happy we are that we got our son back. I thought I would grow old and die and not be able to see my son again.

Alpha Maxwell: Thank you Zero. We appreciate your help.

Zero: You’re welcome guys. It’s an honor to be your guardian angel and your messenger, hehehe. You can always depend on me.

Alpha Maxwell: Um, we have an important matter to discuss with you.

Zero: What is it? I’m excited to hear about it. Bring it on.

Alpha Maxwell: Since we already decided to marry our partners there is no need for you to intervene in our lives. No need to chat with me and Naomi. No need to report or follow orders from the management of the facility. We will deal with our problems from now on. In short you are no longer needed in our lives. So you have to stop chatting with us. Do you understand?

Zero: Oh...

Zero bombarded the chat with shocked faces emoji.
