Captive By Desire, A Love We Can't Deny
Chapter 76: Devil In Disguise!
CHAPTER 76: DEVIL IN DISGUISE!
The following day, Alpha Maxwell woke up early at 6:00 in the morning and quickly chatted with his sweetie pie, thankful that she was already awake because he needed to vent.
Alpha Maxwell: Good morning, sweetie pie.
Naomi: Morning, how was the wedding last night?
Alpha Maxwell: Bad, I mean, I’m faking smiles the whole time. Just like you I have to keep smiling and talking to the guests and looking happy on my wedding day. I didn’t like the whole torturous event... but I’m glad the wedding is already over and I survived it. It’s just a one-day affair, so I’m fine now.
Naomi: I’m glad you survived it and you feel better now. How’s our son?
Alpha Maxwell: I have to visit him early this morning after I’m done drinking my coffee. I will take videos and photos of our son and I will upload them right away for you to see.
Naomi: Great. I will wait for it.
Alpha Maxwell: So wassup? What is your plan for your life now that you are already married to Edison?
Naomi: I’m planning to go back to work in my father’s office.
Alpha Maxwell: That’s a good idea to prevent boredom.
Naomi: Yeah, I’m already bored in our house doing nothing. I want to be productive.
Alpha Maxwell: If your father allows you to work outside the house, we can finally meet in secret so you can see our son most often.
Naomi: Yessss, I would love for that to happen. I would ask my father for a job in his office. Ah, much better if I find work outside my father’s company so I can be free from their watchful eyes. Then I can see my son at least once a week. Is that too much to ask of you?
Alpha Maxwell: It’s fine. Grandma and I can do it since my family doesn’t care much about my son. So yeah, we can definitely meet in secret once a week if that’s what you want.
Naomi: Perfect! I’m already excited to find work outside. I will talk to my father before he leaves the house and reports to his office.
Alpha Maxwell: Good luck sweetie. I hope your father will allow you to find work outside the company so we can see each other again as many times as we like.
Naomi: Although I’m excited, I know very well that my father is scared of me getting kidnapped again so it’s kind of tough. I just wish they would give me more freedom now that the wedding is over.
Alpha Maxwell: They should allow you to find work outside, sweetie. They can’t cage you in the house forever.
Naomi: Yeah, I know.
Alpha Maxwell: Chat with you later, sweetie. I have to get up from bed and go downstairs to start my day. You should get up as well and talk to your dad about your intentions.
Naomi: OK. Let’s get up together.
Alpha Maxwell: I love you sweetie.
Naomi: I love you more. Don’t forget the photos and videos of baby Jacob!
Alpha Maxwell: Alrighty, I’m heading there now.
Naomi: Byeeee
Alpha Maxwell: Bye sweetie
The couple set aside their mobile devices, rose from their beds and went outside to start their day.
Alpha Maxwell was on his way to the stairs and saw his father and Deborah talking to each other early.
His brows drew together. Hmm, what are they talking about?
He continued walking towards the kitchen and made his coffee there. Afterward he proceeded to the living room and they were still talking. It seemed they were having a serious discussion. He decided it’s time to join in their conversation.
Alpha Nelson addressed him. "Come here, son. Join us."
Alpha Maxwell sat on the sofa beside his father.
Deborah glared at her husband. She was disappointed that he hadn’t sat beside her. She felt ignored and abandoned!
"Son, what is your plan for your life now that you are already married to Deborah?" Alpha Nelson asked.
Alpha Maxwell fell silent for a moment, pondering his plans. "Um, I want to return to work as soon as possible, Dad," he responded eagerly.
"Good, so where do you want to work? In our company or in Deborah’s family company?" Alpha Nelson asked.
"Of course in our company," he replied.
"Deborah suggested something to me about your living conditions. His father plans to buy a house so you two can properly raise a family. What we’re talking about here is a house of your own, and I’m also willing to buy you one," he offers generously.
"That’s not necessary, Dad. I have my own money. The reason why I don’t like buying another house is because of my son. If Deb allows baby Jacob to live in our new house, I’m willing to move out and buy my own house," he said, looking smugly at his disgruntled wife.
Deborah’s face instantly darkened after hearing his plan to bring his son Jacob to their marital house. "No way! I will never allow that boy to enter my house!" she yelled in protest, her nostrils flaring in anger.
"See Dad? My darling wife is the problem here, not me," Alpha Maxwell smiles cheekily.
Alpha Nelson sighed. "Calm down, daughter."
"I’m sorry, Dad. Your son is cruel to me. He didn’t care how I felt at all every time he mentioned that son of his to his mistress. It made my blood boil!" she said in disdain.
"See... Dad? I’m willing to move out and have my own house with her but she must agree to my wish of taking my son Jacob with me to the new house. It’s my responsibility as a father to provide for my son and keep him safe. I am not the problem here. She is the problem," he said, smirking.
Alpha Nelson sighed heavily disappointed in the couple’s behavior. "I thought after the wedding there would be some changes between you two. It turned out nothing has changed—you still bicker like a cat and mouse, arguing endlessly. Now that you are already a married couple you better start behaving like one! Now talk it over as a couple and decide what you want from your lives!"
Enraged, Alpha Nelson rose to his feet and took his leave so that the couple could talk about their future without his intervention.
The couple was now left alone on the sofa, egos clashing, they were having a staring match.
"Getting married to you is like living in hell! We have no peace—we quarrel every day!" she lamented, her tone filled with disdain and sorrow.
Alpha Maxwell chuckled, amused by her outburst. "This is what you get for forcing me to marry you. There is a saying that be careful what you wish for, but you still insist on marrying me. Now you complain? How dare you? You brought this up on yourself. So don’t blame me!" he stated coldly.
Tears of frustration sprang from Deborah’s eyes. The only way to get what she wants is to give him what he wants. "Alright, I’ll give you what you want. You can bring baby Jacob to our new house. We will hire a nanny for him," she said calmly, her eyes gleaming with malicious mischief. A diabolic plan had already taken hold in her mind. She would gradually poison baby Jacob every time her husband left the house and went to work.
"I have another important matter to tell you... It does not only concern my son, my grandmother also comes along with us. She will live with us in our house because she will personally take care of my son. Can you allow her to stay with us?" he asked, studying her face, trying to read her brain.
Deborah grew livid with anger. She hated that old hag to the core. "No way! You can’t bring your grandmother to our new house. I wouldn’t be able to have peace if she stayed with us. Your son is the only one I’m willing to accept into our house! Not her!" she responded, furious.
Alpha Maxwell heaved a sigh. "What is wrong with my grandmother? Why don’t you like her? Because she can see through your facade?"
"Don’t you dare accuse me!" she snapped.
Alpha Maxwell raised a brow. "Huh? Accuse you of what?" he asked suspiciously.
"Nothing!" she responded quickly, afraid her words would give her away.
Anger rose in Alpha Maxwell’s heart. He growled. "That is the problem with you, Deb. You want us to leave this house so you can get away from my son’s shadow. You want all my attention to yourself. You forgot that I have two sons, baby Zed and baby Jacob. Naturally since I’m the father, I would like my two children to grow up together in one place. If you can’t bear seeing my son with Naomi every day, then it’s your problem. You knew my situation well before you married me. I didn’t hide anything from you but you still insist on this loveless marriage to happen. Now pay the price for your stubbornness!"
"This is unfair! You are bullying me! I’m your wife. Why are you so mean to me? What have I done to make you hate me like this? All I did was love you, understand your situation and accept all your flaws. But all I get is your wrath?" Deborah lamented as tears of anger and frustration rolled down her face, tearing her heart apart into tiny pieces.
"I’m not being unfair to you. You seem to forget that you didn’t marry a robot. I have feelings and emotions that you want to suppress... and do you think I will let you win? You are wrong! I have enough of your toxic attitude. If you want our marriage to work out, live on my own terms because I’m your husband and I demand full control of our lives. Follow me, obey me or get out!" he snarled, rising to his feet.
"Where are you going?" she asked between sobs.
"Don’t follow me to the bungalow house if you only want to argue. I’m tired of your toxic behavior!" He warned and stormed out of the main door, heading to the back of the house to see his son.
Nostrils flaring in anger, Deborah watched her husband disappear from her eyes. She was furious that she couldn’t do anything to stop him. She wanted to control him, mold him according to her will and make him a submissive husband, but she failed miserably!
She buried her tear-stained face in her hands, crying helplessly.
Luna Adela sat beside Deborah, shaking her head in sadness because a couple’s quarrel happening on the second day after the wedding is usually a bad sign, indicating that the marriage won’t last long. "Why are you crying, dear? What’s wrong?" she asked gently.
Deborah raised her tear-stained face and said, "Your son is a devil in disguise!"
