Captive By Desire, A Love We Can't Deny
Chapter 77: Arrangement
CHAPTER 77: ARRANGEMENT
Shocked by her outburst, Luna Adela shut her eyes for a few seconds, calming herself. She was offended by Deborah’s words, but she chose not to get angry. The situation will only get worse if she starts arguing with Deborah.
Her daughter-in-law was bitter and her behavior was erratic. It’s no use arguing with her.
"Mom, I’m sorry I snapped at you. I didn’t mean it. I’m just feeling angry right now. I can’t control my temper. I’m so sorry... please forgive me," Deborah apologized sincerely.
Luna Adela breathed deeply. "It’s okay, I already forgive you. But can you tell me why you are arguing with my son? What’s wrong?" she asked.
"I told him that since we are already a married couple, it’s better for us to have our own house. He agreed to my suggestion but on one condition, he wanted to bring baby Jacob and Grandma Franchia to the new house. I told him that I could only allow baby Jacob into our house... but not Grandma. He got angry," Deborah explained, wanting to gain her mother-in-law’s sympathy.
Luna Adela sighed heavily. "Why are you angry at Grandma? Why do I feel like you don’t like her?" she asked curiously.
"Because she always insults me! I can feel that she doesn’t like me. I can feel that negative vibe from her, which is why we can’t stay in one place together. We will only quarrel and disagree all the time. I don’t like that kind of environment in my own house. I want peace and harmony! That’s the reason Grandma is not welcome at my house!" Deborah furiously said.
"Is baby Jacob welcome now at your house?" Luna Adela asked, raising a brow.
"Yes, at least baby Jacob is still a baby, he can’t talk back yet so I have no problem dealing with him. Grandma is a different matter, she always insults me!" Deborah explained.
"Will you raise baby Jacob just like he is your own child?" Luna Adela asked.
"Yes, of course! I’ll do anything to make my husband happy," Deborah said softly, her tone sincere, but deep inside she was planning bad things for Naomi’s baby.
Luna Adela studied Debora’s face for a few minutes, trying to see if she was sincere with her intention or just faking it.
"Mom, please help me convince your son to leave Grandma behind after we get our own place. Grandma doesn’t treat me nicely. I don’t like her! Please help me," Deborah begged.
"I’ll see what I can do, but honestly, it would be hard to convince my son because we all know he and Grandma are very close to each other," Luna Adela said hesitantly. "Um, by the way, when are you going to have a house of your own?" she finally asked.
Deborah shrugged. "I don’t know. I’m not sure yet. My husband and I haven’t talked about buying a house yet."
"Buying a new house is easy. So many luxurious houses you can buy anytime, money is not a problem. But if you can’t accept Grandma in your house, I believe my son will choose to remain here just to be closer to baby Jacob," Luna Adela said in a serious tone.
Deborah was annoyed by her low-IQ mother-in-law. She hated repeating herself again. "Mom, I told you already, I’m willing to raise baby Jacob along with my own son. It’s Grandma’s presence in my own house that I can’t tolerate. Do you understand now?"
"Of course I understand what you are trying to tell me, dear. Alright, let me find my son and talk to him. I will try to convince him," Luna Adela said, standing up.
Deborah smiled brightly. "Thank you, Mom. I appreciate your help very much!"
Luan Adela sighed heavily. "I can’t promise you anything, dear."
"It’s okay, Mom. At least you are willing to try on my behalf," Deborah said, smiling brightly.
"OK. I’ll go upstairs now." Luna Adela rose to her feet.
"No, he’s not in his room, he went to the back of the house, probably going to visit his son," Deborah said.
"Ah, okay. I’m going there now." Luna Adela leaves the house.
Deborah went upstairs to check on her son. She hoped Alpha Maxwell would listen to his mother.
Meanwhile, at the back of the house. Luna Adela can be seen arriving at the bungalow house. At the entrance, she saw her son and Grandma talking to each other on the sofa. She entered the house and joined them in their conversation.
Luna Adela addressed her son. "Son, your wife told me that you two were planning to buy a house? She said she was willing to raise baby Jacob to make you happy, but she didn’t want Grandma involved. Is this true?" she asked.
"Yes, that’s true, Mom. Honestly, it was her who opened up about that issue. Her father is willing to give us a new house. And when I told her that I’m willing to buy a new house for us as long as she agrees that I will bring baby Jacob with me to the new house, at first she refused, but then she finally agreed. But when I told her that Grandma would also come along to personally take care of my son, she got angry. That’s the reason why we had an argument earlier," Alpha Maxwell explained.
"I see..." Luna Adela breathed deeply, shaking her head in bewilderment.
Grandma cleared her throat and said, "Now what do you see? That woman held a grudge against me. She was mad that I was able to see the truth behind her evil facade. Do you think she is truly sincere in taking care of baby Jacob? I highly doubt it. She will surely harm the infant when no one is looking over her shoulder. That is the reason why she doesn’t want me to accompany baby Jacob to the new house. Her murderous intentions will be exposed by me."
"Grandma, I think Deborah had no intention of harming the baby because if ever something bad happens to baby Jacob under her care, she will be the main suspect," Luna Adela argued. "Let’s not accuse her yet of something she has not done yet," she added, trying to defend her daughter-in-law.
Grandma snorted. "There are many ways to hide one’s evil intentions. Anything is possible, dear. With Deborah’s erratic behavior anything can happen," she responded. "If her conscience is clean, she will welcome me into her house with open arms. Right, my boy?"
"Yup, you are correct, Grams." Alpha Maxwell agreed. "In short, we will continue to stay here in the mansion until Deborah finally accepts that baby Jacob and Grandma are one package. Nobody can separate them."
Grandma smiled mischievously. "Yes we are in one package! Buy one and take one! I’m baby Jacob’s protector, his fairy godmother," she joked humorously.
Luna Adela took a deep breath. She realized that there was nothing she could do to convince the old woman not to interfere in the couple’s affairs. "Alright, it looks like Grandma will never change her mind. I’ll go back to the house then," she said, rising to her feet.
Grandma raised a brow. "So, Deborah asked you to come here to convince me not to follow baby Jacob into the new house? Am I right?" she asked.
"Yes, Grandma, you are correct." Luna Adela admitted.
Grandma’s eyes flickered with annoyance. "That woman is downright evil and dangerous! Trust me, one day she will attempt to kill someone. I already see through her facade, and that is why I will never leave baby Jacob alone with her!" she declared indignantly.
"Grandma, don’t you think your accusations are a bit too far?" Luna Adela protested on behalf of her daughter-in-law.
Grandma nodded her head. "Maybe you are right. I went too far this time. I hope I’m wrong. Just that I don’t trust that woman—you can’t blame me," she said, her tone serious.
Luna Adela finally decided it was time to leave.
"Wait... I have a nice idea. If Deborah really wanted a house for herself and Maxwell then they could stay here in the bungalow house so they can have privacy as a couple. Me and baby Jacob will return to the mansion. What do you think, guys?" Grandma suggested.
"Sounds fine to me," Alpha Maxwell said.
"Alright, I will tell Deborah about your suggestion, Grandma. I will go now," Luna Adela said and left the house.
Luna Adela returned to the mansion and proceeded upstairs when she didn’t see Deborah in the living room. She found her in the room changing her son’s diaper on the bed.
"Mom, have you talked to my husband?" Deborah asked excitedly.
"Yes. I already talked to him," Luna Adela sighed. "Unfortunately, nothing can separate Grandma from baby Jacob—you already know what it means. My son would only agree to relocate to a new house if Grandma and Baby Jacob came as well. If you really insist on buying a house for your family, you will end up living in an empty house because my son will not come with you."
Deborah’s face turned dark in anger. "But I’m his wife! My husband should follow where I go!" she argued.
Luna Adela sighed heavily. "You underestimated my son."
"This is outrageous! I hate this!" Deborah said, nostrils flaring, exploding in anger.
Luna Adela said, "Grandma has some nice suggestions though. Would you like to listen?"
Deborah nodded her head. "OK. Let me hear about it..."
"You and my son can stay in the bungalow house with baby Zed so you can have your own house, your own space for privacy as a couple while Grandma and baby Jacob return here to the mansion. Would you agree with her suggestion?" Luna Adela asked.
