CHAPTER 83: BORED TO DEATH

After Deborah finished shopping she joined her husband and fed her son before he started crying due to hunger.

"What else do you want? If you are done shopping, I would like to go home now," he said, bored to death.

She glared at him, annoyed that he insisted on going home when she had just begun her shopping. "No, we’re not going home. I’m not done shopping yet. We just arrived in this mall so we will shop until we drop," she said her eyes gleaming defiantly.

His jaw tightened in annoyance. "Next time, if you want to go shopping for clothes and stuff don’t bring me anymore because I’m bored to death!" he snapped. "Shopping is not my cup of tea," he added between gritted teeth.

Deborah pouted angrily. "How dare you? This is a family affair, and yet you are busy thinking about that woman? Can you just be happy for me? I love shopping and this is my happiness. Just being here with me, holding our son for me while I’m busy buying stuff is already a big deal for me. Why can’t you be considerate of my needs even just for today?" she lamented, her tone filled with anguish.

"Stop the drama, go now and continue your shopping. I will just stay here, taking care of our son. I’m tired of walking," he quickly said to subdue her rising tantrum.

The dark expression on her face changed quickly. "Thank you, hubby," she smiled happily, giving her son a loving kiss on the head. She went to the store selling expensive jewelry.

Alpha Maxwell pressed his lips together in annoyance. Next time he will no longer accompany his wife to her future shopping.

So damn boring and annoying!

He scanned the faces of the people around him, looking for his sweetie pie. He was disappointed because he could no longer see her in the crowd.

Where did she go?

His heart was squeezed painfully due to jealousy when he saw her with her husband, they didn’t even hold hands but he hated seeing them together. It was a big blow to his ego. He should be the one with Naomi right now, not her husband!

He takes a deep breath, trying to stay calm amid his troubled thoughts and emotions. Instead of dwelling on negative thoughts he should just pay more attention to his son. He nuzzled baby Zed’s arms and kissed his chubby cheeks. "How are you feeling, son? Did you enjoy our first outing together in the mall?" He asked, smiling broadly.

A few meters away, Naomi watched him happily talking to his son.

Sigh.

She should be the one beside him right now, roaming the mall, enjoying each other’s company, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Alpha Maxwell was with his wife and son and she was with her husband.

Their situation is difficult.

Her chest felt heavy from sorrow.

She was married to the wrong guy... but desires the right guy who is also married to another woman.

Marrying their partners was their idea to please their parents and honor the old deal they made with their lovers before the kidnapping took place. A decision they both agreed to make. Now they are the ones suffering in silence due to their stupid decision.

But it won’t be long.

They will eventually free themselves from this prison of madness they bought upon themselves just to please other people.

’All their suffering will end someday,’ she comforted herself.

She shifted her gaze to the gym store in front of her. Edison was checking out expensive exercise equipment he wanted to buy someday.

A few moments later, Edison came out of the store empty handed, looking forlorn.

"What’s wrong?" she asked.

"It’s expensive, I can’t afford it," he replied sadly.

"I have enough savings. We can buy it today and you will pay me back every month," she offered.

"Thank you for the offer, darling. But I decided not to splurge on money today because I’m not earning yet. And please keep your money. We might end up both broke one day if we keep spending money on things that are not necessary," he said, feeling ashamed that he was broke.

She shrugged. "Well, if you are done shopping we might as well go home," she suggested.

"How about you? Do you still want to go shopping?" he asked. "What did you buy today for yourself? You have been roaming around this mall for many hours and I didn’t see you carrying shopping bags with you..."

"Ah, I didn’t buy new clothes, shoes or bags because I have plenty of those things in my room. I don’t need a lot of them lying useless in my closet. I only bought two books to read," she explained.

"Alright, let’s just eat some light snacks and go home afterwards," he said, leading her to the nearest ice cream parlor.

The couple entered the store and ordered ice cream, a croissant then paired it with ice tea.

"I want to find work," she said casually, taking a bite out of the delicious croissant.

"Where? At your father’s company?" he asked.

"No. I want to work for another company," she replied.

He raised a brow. "Why not at your father’s company? You will surely get hired fast."

"Because I want to try working for other people. I’ve been working at my father’s company as long as I can remember, so it’s now your time to work there," she said, finishing the croissant.

"I suggest you tell your father first. He might get offended that his very own daughter didn’t ask him for a position in his company. I think he will not agree if you work for other people," he said, eating his ice cream with gusto.

She nodded her head. "OK. I will talk to him later after we arrive home."

After the couple finished eating their light snack they left the mall and went home.

Meanwhile...

Back to Alpha Maxwell, he can be seen looking at the store, waiting for his wife to come out. He was getting bored to death waiting on the bench.

"Son, should we just leave your mother and go home?" he asked baby Zed.

Baby Zed smiled and giggled. The melodious sound of his laughter melted his heart. "Aw, you are agreeing with me, little guy?" he murmured in amusement, nuzzling his cheeks.

Baby Zed giggled, his rich laughter was like music to his ears, erasing his boredom instantly.

"But if we leave your mother behind she will surely go ballistic in anger, right? So we have no choice but to wait until she finishes her shopping," he said in resignation.

Deborah continued her shopping, grateful that her son didn’t throw a tantrum while she was busy splurging, buying expensive bags, clothes and shoes.

A few moments later, she exited the store and dumped her shopping bags on the floor. Alpha Maxwell looked at the bags in horror.

"Why did you buy so much stuff?" he asked.

Deborah grinned. "I love spending your money, after all I’m your wife. I will drain all your resources," she replied jokingly. "I was not able to shop for a long time because of the drama surrounding our wedding. That is why today is my day to enjoy and reward myself with my favorite stuff," she added merrily.

"Alright, let’s go home now. I’ll carry the shopping bags to the car," he said.

"Who says I’m done shopping?" Deborah said mischievously.

Alpha Maxwell’s eyes darkened instantly. "What the hell? You are not done yet? The mall is about to close. We can’t stay here any longer," he said between clenched teeth.

"Oh..." That’s when Deborah noticed that only a few people were left milling around the mall. "I will buy some scented candles first before we go home," she insisted.

He glared. "Why did you even need a candle?" he asked, annoyed.

"Because I like to buy one!" She snapped and proceeded to enter the candle store nearby.

Alpha Maxwell groaned in dismay, looking at his son sleeping in his arms, then his gaze shifted to the dozen shopping bags adorning his feet on the floor. His eyes gleamed with disdain.

She already had a lot of stuff in her overflowing closet. Why did she buy more of this stuff?

Flabbergasted, he shook his head several times, finding it hard to understand women sometimes.

Deborah craves extravagance and excess!

That is why he craves Naomi’s presence in his life, she is simple and not materialistic.

Inside the candle store, Deborah bought five scented candles, one for seduction, for happiness, for empowerment and etcetera.

Tonight she is planning to seduce her cold and aloof husband. She hopes she will succeed with the help of these candles.

She exited the candle store, ready to go home. She approached her husband and smiled in amusement, enjoying the dark expression on his face. He scowled, annoyed by the unpleasant condition she had subjected him to.

Her sweet revenge!

"Are you done?" he asked in an irate tone.

"Yes hubby. Let’s go!" she replied cheerily. She took baby Zed into her arms and kissed his cheeks.

Alpha Maxwell grabbed all the shopping bags and walked briskly towards the lift that would bring them to the mall’s parking lot located on the ground floor. Deborah was following him.

A few minutes later, they reached the parking lot. Alpha Maxwell opened the car door and Deborah settled comfortably into the passenger seat, cradling her son in her arms.

After dumping the shopping bags in the trunk Alpha Maxwell slid into the driver’s seat. He glanced at her in the rearview mirror. "Next time I won’t go shopping with you." He started the engine and drove the car out of the parking lot.

Deborah smirked. She wasn’t in the mood to argue with him because she was tired of shopping and her feet ached painfully. Besides quarreling with him might awaken her son and she won’t be able to rest all the way home.

She fell silent, thinking about the scented candles—will they work?

She will find out tonight!
