CHAPTER 564: +CHAPTER 564+
Cain returned while Angelo was still in the restroom, meeting only Mafia King Nikolai, whose attention was on the door the other had gone through.
"Silvia is going to be discharged today," He found himself informing the Mafia King, "We should be set to leave in a few hours."
Nikolai was pleasantly surprised, Angelo would certainly be happy to hear that.
Like clockwork, the Omega stepped out of the restroom, his face slightly damp, cheeks pale.
"Silvia is getting out of the hospital today," Cain repeated before Nikolai could break the news.
Seeing as he wasn’t needed just then, Nikolai rose to his feet as well to freshen up.
Angelo’s green eyes lit up at Cain’s news, gravitating closer to the Alpha. "She is?"
"Yeah, she’ll need a few weeks of physical therapy after healing, but she is alright to leave."
Angelo’s smile was one of relief. Things were far from perfect, but right then, he was content. Silvia also had nothing to do with the war between the High Council and Haines, so he was satisfied that she wouldn’t be in more danger than usual.
After Nikolai got out of the restroom, a nurse had already shown up to lead them to Silvia’s room. Apparently, Silvia had been awake for a while now and had been insisting on seeing them.
The bruises on her face were already fading when they stepped in, the windows in her room were open, and the curtains had been parted to let the morning sun in, it brightened up Silvia’s happy face further.
This time, Angelo didn’t hesitate, going right to Silvia’s side. "How do you feel?" He asked with concern.
"Fine, but I’ll feel better when I’m out of here," She grumbled.
Angelo glanced at Nikolai before giving Silvia a rundown of what had happened, at least, what he knew of it.
Silvia’s eyes widened, but she didn’t interrupt, her eyes occasionally drifting in Nikolai’s direction. "You’re staying at Davian’s?"
"Yes. You and Cain are more than welcome as well." He was quick to add.
Silvia’s smile faded a bit, "That’s generous of them, but it might be best we didn’t," She reluctantly turned down the offer.
"The house is currently jeopardized, so we’ll move somewhere safer and more private." She explained, "Lying low for the next couple of months is the best move."
Silvia would have preferred that Angelo stay with her instead, but she didn’t have the heart to rip him from Nikolai’s side. If her help was needed in the war, she would be more than happy to help, but if the Mafia Kings could seek her out, so could the High Council, and she didn’t want to give them a chance to attempt it.
Angelo frowned, he hadn’t been expecting that response, but he could also see the sense in it. "Will you be fine? You’re still injured."
"I have Cain with me," She reminded, her voice softening on his name. "I’ll be fine. Why don’t you two go finalize my discharge so we can leave?" She suggested to Cain and Angelo.
Neither of them protested, doing as she said and leaving the room together, Nikolai the only one left in the room with Silvia.
"I’m surprised you didn’t convince Angelo to stay with you," He noted, approaching the bed.
Silvia’s eyes narrowed; she could never repay the Mafia King back but that didn’t fix her grudge towards him for taking Angelo from her. "Don’t tempt me."
"I hope you’re not going to try to change my mind, Asher and Davian already gave that a shot," Nikolai said flippantly.
Silvia pursed her lips, he had read her like a book. "I just don’t want Angelo to be plagued by guilt. Isn’t there another way?"
Nikolai looked away, "It’s not because of Angelo," He said honestly; it didn’t matter if Silvia believed him or not.
Things had been great with Angelo even while he was still in the full capacity of a Mafia King, and if the High Council was out of the equation, things would have gone back to the way they were.
"Right," Silvia muttered. She clearly didn’t believe him, but she didn’t push either. "Thank you," She eased off, black eyes damp. "If you ever need anything, anything at all, I’ll do my best to help."
Nikolai hadn’t done what he did for Silvia’s sake, but he didn’t brush off her gratitude either. "Angelo did it," He reported proudly, showing off to anyone who would listen. "Bled him out like the pig he was."
Silvia’s smile was teary, maybe Nikolai was what Angelo needed after all. "Take care of him, okay." She said lightly, her words catching in her throat.
Nikolai’s response was interrupted by Cain and Angelo’s appearance. A nurse tagged along with them, pushing in a wheelchair behind them.
With the nurse’s help, Cain gently moved her from the bed to the chair, and by mid-morning, they were in the parking lot.
"I’ll come visit soon," Angelo promised, waiting with Nikolai in the parking lot until Cain got Silvia in the car.
Silvia held his hand through her wound-down window, her dark eyes shooting daggers at Nikolai, who hung back. "Visit as often as you like," She urged him, reluctantly letting go of his hand.
Most of the wait back in the hospital had been from Cain intently listening to the nurse explain how to care for Silvia. They could have easily gotten an in-house nurse, but he wanted to be the one to take care of her.
A doctor would frequently come for house check-ins until she was fully healed, so everything was in place.
Angelo stepped back so they could drive off, Nikolai coming over to his side.
Nikolai looked from Angelo to the car that was going out of sight now, jaw clenched. "If it would make you feel better, you can stay with Silvia until she’s all better." He forced out through gritted teeth.
Angelo looked away from the car he could no longer see, focusing on Nikolai. "I doubt Cain would be happy about that," He pointed out.
His worry for Silvia had been eased, and he had seen her secretary go against several armed men for her sake. He knew that if there was anyone who would dedicate himself to nursing Silvia back to health, it would be him.
He also hadn’t forgotten how the Alpha constantly stayed out of sight in the few weeks he spent at Silvia’s place, he wasn’t too eager to get in between them again.
