CHAPTER 122: HEALING

After arriving at the cabin entrance, Carlotta continued moving, entering the corridor and quickly vanishing into the distance. In a short time, she reached the deck, then jumped off the Moonlight, circling the entire ship before returning to the deck once more.

This process hadn’t taken her much time at all. She felt as if she had transformed into a wisp of wind, vast distances could be easily crossed, her agility astonishing.

When Carlotta returned from her loop, Amelia had just arrived on deck, staring at Carlotta with wide, shocked eyes.

"So this is the Speed Card fused with the Wind God Stone? This speed... it’s incomparable to ordinary Speed Cards."

Carlotta murmured in admiration, then in a flash appeared beside Amelia.

This speed makes Amelia’s eyelid twitch. If such speed could be easily unleashed in battle, how could any opponent possibly react in time?

She knew that with this card’s enhancement, Carlotta’s combat ability had drastically improved.

Still, Amelia said, "Carlotta, even though you’ve become much stronger with the Speed Card, don’t go recklessly throwing yourself into danger before your injuries heal. We can’t afford any accidents."

She truly feared that Carlotta, emboldened by her sudden power increase, might recklessly confront anyone.

At the very least, she thought Carlotta should wait until fully recovered. Safety came first.

"I won’t act recklessly."

Carlotta smiled faintly.

Next, she spent some time familiarizing herself with the Speed Card’s velocity, adapting to perform various actions at this new speed, ensuring that excessive speed wouldn’t instead become a hindrance.

When she had mostly adjusted, dawn finally arrived.

Carlotta sat down on a deck chair, silently activated her information panel, and scanned the contents.

[ 1: The treasure list of this hidden vault is as follows. It contains...]

The first piece of intelligence details the inventory of items in the hidden vault, causing Carlotta’s expression to shift noticeably.

In addition to the Resonant monster corpse previously mentioned by Aubrey and others, the report listed many other things, including numerous precious materials.

Carlotta even spotted several rare materials useful for alchemical ship construction. Although their value couldn’t match that of Eternal Mithril, each was still extremely difficult to obtain on the market.

Sunstone, Storm Core, Sky Crystal, Star Sand...

Carlotta continued reading down the list, her eyes growing brighter with each name.

’The person who originally left this hidden vault behind was truly extraordinary. To amass such a rich hoard, these must have been seized from others in the inner zones. What audacity. Pity they didn’t survive. Their treasure will only end up benefiting someone else.’

Having learned the vault’s exact contents, Carlotta now considers it absolutely essential to claim it.

[ 2: Jemina has long kept a secret buried deep in her heart, one no one knows. She has secretly harbored feelings for Spencer, and the two once shared a hidden past. Upon learning that Spencer died by Carlotta’s hand, Jemina’s mind became consumed by a single thought: killing Carlotta.]

Carlotta was left speechless.

A long-standing mystery was finally solved. Now she understood why Jemina had attacked her, because of this.

No one could have guessed the hidden connection between Jemina and Spencer. Something the two had carefully secured.

Carlotta touched her wounded waist, her gaze was cold.

It no longer mattered why Jemina had attacked her. They were now destined enemies. If they meet again, only one of them will walk away alive.

[ 3: When Carlotta was injured, Amelia felt as if her breath had stopped, her emotions experiencing an unprecedented surge. Later, recalling her own feelings, Amelia realized her emotional reaction had been excessive, an abnormality. She began to reevaluate her relationship with Carlotta.]

Carlotta couldn’t help but turn and glanced at Amelia, just as Amelia’s blue, shimmering eyes met hers.

Both froze momentarily, then quickly averted their gazes.

Carlotta’s expression turned complex. What did Amelia mean by reevaluating their relationship? Could it be... Amelia liked her?

Carlotta didn’t deny her own feelings for Amelia. Ever since Amelia fearlessly helped her escape Wales Fortress and decided to follow her into exile, she knew she had fallen.

But not knowing Amelia’s true feelings, she never dared to speak certain words, only keeping them hidden, biding her time.

’Feelings are truly complicated...’

Carlotta had no experience in this area. A blank slate, she didn’t know what the best course of action was, only that she’d had to take it slowly.

Taking a deep breath, she turned to the next piece of intelligence.

[ 4: Monica Daniels is a member of the Stellar Spire, specialized in healing magic. She is currently near the hidden vault, intending to watch from the sidelines as others clash, then seize the spoils afterwards. Accompanying her are several companions. Their respective tiers are as follows...]

Carlotta’s eyes widened.

Healing magic?

Just earlier, Amelia had mentioned that the only way for her injuries to recover quickly was through healing magic, a rare form of magic not everyone could master.

And now, someone trained in healing magic was nearby?

Carlotta perked up. She realized her chance to recover had arrived. But the woman was a complete stranger, why would she offer healing? They were both on the Sky Island, even potential rivals.

’Stellar Spire...’

Carlotta fell into thought.

She had some impression of the organization, a group formed by many magic practitioners dedicated to researching various spells. Although not large, it wasn’t dismissible either, and seems located within the Brandon Kingdom.

Regardless, she had to make contact with this person.

The intelligence includes a map marking Seria’s location and the tiers of her companions.

She turned to the final piece of information.

[ 5: Alistair led a team searching through the Augusta Kingdom but found no trace of Carlotta. Suspecting she may have gone further to the Brandon Kingdom, Alistair decided to separate forces with Grand Locke of the investigation team. Grand will continue leading the investigation team in the Augusta Kingdom, while Alistair will bring the Carlisle family contingency to the Brandon Kingdom.]

Carlotta raised an eyebrow. So they were chasing after her now?

But she had never appeared publicly in the Brandon Kingdom as Carlotta. Finding her wouldn’t be easy

Based solely on daily intelligence reports, Carlotta didn’t believe Alistairs and the others could suddenly appear before her eyes. This time, the moment these people changed direction, the report immediately delivered the news, this was enough for her to issue an early warning long in advance.

The incident at Wales Fortress was an accident born from multiple coincidences. Such an accident wouldn’t easily happen again.

After finishing the report, Carlotta stood up, intending to go find someone to treat her injuries.

"Your wounds haven’t healed. Don’t move around carelessly."

Amelia glanced at Carlotta.

Carlotta smiled, "I’m just planning to walk around nearby, not heading toward the treasure site. Don’t worry about me."

Amelia asked, puzzled: "Why do you have to walk around nearby at all?"

"Maybe it’s because I just obtained the Speed Card, and want to take a quick run?"

Seeing Amelia’s unimpressed expression, Carlotta added, "I also want to see how strong the adventurers in the surrounding mountains are. It might help with my next moves."

Amelia immediately realized Carlotta still intended to get involved in the struggle over the treasure site, this time perhaps hoping to use the strength of others nearby.

She could only stand up and say, "I’ll go with you."

The two left the Moonlight, and Amelia stored it inside the Ten-Heart Pearl. Then, they set off.

They appeared to be randomly choosing a direction, but in reality, Carlotta had a clear destination, heading straight toward the group from Stellar Spire.

So it wasn’t long before a small team came into view, five people in total.

This place had just witnessed a fierce battle, but it wasn’t a fight against monsters, it was a human-on-human slaughter.

Someone had targeted the people from Stellar Spire, launching an attack, but failed and was completely wiped out here, their blood staining the ground red.

Of course, the Stellar Spire group hadn’t come away unscathed either, four out of the five were injured.

Right now, Monica Daniels was healing the wounded. Dressed in white, bathed in light, she released beams of white energy capable of rapidly healing injuries.

Suddenly, a middle-aged man who had just been healed seemed to sense something, his expression darkening sharply.

"There’s someone?"

He raised his hand and launched an attack toward a patch of grass. Cold air surged forth, and numerous ice spikes emerged, sweeping across, an ordinary frost magic.

Carlotta was in that direction.

She leapt out, and with the boost from her Speed Card, she almost instantly appeared behind the middle-aged man.

Calmly, she said, "We have no grudge. Is there really a need to attack immediately?"

Hearing the voice from behind, the man was startled.

He had just seen her in front of him, how could she suddenly appear behind him in an instant? What speed was this?

Almost instinctively, the man kicked his leg upward, and a ring of ice burst out from him in all directions. Wherever it passed, the grass froze over.

Carlotta flickered again and reappeared at a distance, avoiding the ice ring’s range.

"Do you people attack anyone you see?"

Standing far away, Carlotta looked over and said leisurely.

Now, the Stellar Spire group finally saw who she was. They glanced at Carlotta, then at Amelia stepping forward from behind, and instantly grew wary.

"Who are you?"

The middle-aged man asked sternly.

"Definitely not with them."

Carlotta pointed at the corpses on the ground.

"Passing by?"

The man said coldly, "If that’s the case, I apologize for the earlier attack. I thought the enemies hadn’t all been eliminated."

He introduced himself as Minac Gobel, from Stellar Spire, and hoped Carlotta wouldn’t hold the previous incident against him.

The speed Carlotta had just displayed truly terrified him. He didn’t want to clash with an opponent he couldn’t even track, so he mentioned Stellar Spire, hoping it would make her hesitate.

Carlotta said calmly, "You’ve already attacked, yet you expect me to pretend nothing happened? Isn’t that a bit unreasonable? Even if you’re from Stellar Spire, you can’t be so domineering."

Minac said sternly, "Then what do you want?"

He stood at the front, the other four behind him, all watching Carlotta with high alert.

Among the five, three were apprentices. Only Minac and Monica were Listeners, and both were only at the early tier. This level of strength didn’t give them much sense of security.

Carlotta smiled gently, "Don’t worry, I’m not unreasonable. Just now, I noticed this lady seems to possess healing magic. As it happens, I’m injured. If she can heal me, we can consider the earlier incident forgotten."

Amelia stepped up beside Carlotta, eyeing Monica.

She hadn’t expected such a coincidence, that someone who could heal would actually appear. If they received healing, tonight they would definitely head to the treasure site for revenge.

Minac and Monica hadn’t expected Carlotta’s demand to be this, and exchanged a glance.

After a pause, Minac said, "If we heal you, and you, now fully recovered, turn on us, wouldn’t we be asking for trouble?"

Carlotta said, "Do you really think that if you refuse to heal me, I won’t be able to deal with you?"

She stepped forward, turning into a flickering shadow, and in the blink of an eye, appeared beside Monica, gently patting her shoulder.

Monica was terrified, instinctively screaming and jumping back.

Minac only realized what happened afterward, quickly stepping in front of Monica, staring at Carlotta with shock and suspicion.

He felt he’d barely sensed Carlotta’s magical fluctuation, she seemed to be a ninth-tier apprentice. But how could a ninth-tier apprentice possess such absurd movement speed?

"Heal me. You wouldn’t want to be wiped out simply for refusing to give healing, would you?"

Carlotta said calmly.

Often, threats and force were far more effective than kind words.

Minac still hesitated. Monica, however, gritted her teeth and said: "Fine, I’ll heal you. But you must promise not to attack us after you’re healed."

Carlotta smiled: "Of course. I also hope you won’t try any tricks during the healing. My companion is even stronger than I am."

Not far away, Amelia stood silently in the grass, silver hair fluttering, saying nothing. Under the crimson moonlight, she appeared deeply mysterious, radiating overwhelming pressure.

Monica stepped forward, her eyes glowing white, a sign she could sense the location of injuries. She quickly locked onto the wound at Carlotta’s waist.

Then, she raised her hands toward Carlotta, sending waves of white light through her clothes, directly onto the wound, giving Carlotta a tingling, itchy sensation.
