Chapter 1856: Chapter 877: Reaping Grass and Catching Rabbits
Anderson was ecstatic, the phone call finally went through!
During the time when he couldn’t get through, Anderson made another effort; he personally went to the old master’s place, hoping to reconcile.
Although he knew there wasn’t much hope, he had to try his best. It was only now that Anderson realized what was truly important in his life.
Money could be earned again, power could be regained from scratch, even reputation didn’t matter, as he knew well enough that his reputation wasn’t that great to begin with.
Some things, however, could not be given up.
So he eagerly waited at the door of the old master’s house until late at night, but he didn’t even see the person. All the compensation and apology strategies he had planned were useless; he could only go back and continue the futile and boring task of making phone calls.
Because he’d been dialing for so long, when the call was finally connected, he was momentarily stunned.
It wasn’t until Yan Fei’s voice came through that he snapped back to reality.
…
When Yan Fei saw it was a call from Anderson, he smiled and told his wife, then ran to the bathroom to take the call—business matters, no matter what they were, were less important than his wife being fed, sleepy, and wanting to rest, and he certainly couldn’t disturb her.
By the time Anderson on the other end of the call realized it, he began to report the situation.
Yan Fei listened to just a couple of sentences and then said, it’s hard to explain over the phone, I’ll come find you!
Firstly, his wife needed to sleep; he didn’t want to disturb her. Secondly, he didn’t want to discuss too much with Anderson over the phone—what if he mentioned someone’s name or a location and something happened over there, especially if the call was eavesdropped?
After hanging up, he thought of an excuse, came back to tell his wife, and found she was already asleep with her eyes closed.
He thought for a moment, wrote a small note, left it by the bedside, and then went off to see Anderson.
…
Anderson was restless at home; although Yan Fei’s tone wasn’t harsh, he felt uneasy in his heart. This little business had him tangled for so long and unresolved, would anything go well for him?
With his years of experience, he could completely feel that the big boss from China didn’t seem to care about whether he lived or died. The unpredictable consequences of an unspoken misunderstanding made Anderson unable to get a good night’s sleep for a long time.
Why did he feel this way? Because when he used to deal with those small-time thugs and addicts, it was the same way.
While sorting through the documents he had, Anderson kept making phone calls, urging Aldrich to push his subordinates, trying every way to perfect the information he had on hand.
From previous experience, Anderson didn’t even need instructions to know what kind of information to prepare. Of course, it was about the old master’s detailed information, which included family status, wealth, and all related industries.
The old master, named Larry Bevan, didn’t have much industry; the real businesses were two large factories encompassing paper and printing-related industries owned by his family. Then there were a few small slaughterhouses and two small ranches. The slaughterhouses and ranches were more of an investment to attract goodwill, proving that the industry was promising, showing he really cared about public welfare, a ploy to reassure farm and small factory owners.
Some little tricks were quite effective, and with Larry Bevan’s strong local roots, he maintained considerable standing in the state parliament.
However…
Anderson looked at the documents, feeling furious while also a bit gleeful.
He thought that Boss Yan certainly wouldn’t let it go that easily, and if he could escape this predicament, the one in trouble would probably be Larry Bevan. Who knows what kind of glorious method the Chinese Kung Fu master who threatened him would use against the vicious, stubborn Larry Bevan.
…
Yan Fei, flying high in the sky, didn’t have much on his mind regarding the matter he was handling. He was feeling great with the blue skies, clear clouds, and shining sun… overall, everything looked good in a good mood. Even knowing that there was again trouble on Anderson’s side, he didn’t pay it much attention.
His wife already knew his secret, and he still hadn’t quite figured out what to do next. Right now, all he wanted was to finish his business quickly and then take his wife to Dinosaur World for some fun.
He had always been alone in Dinosaur World before. Even after getting a lot of laborers, he was still essentially alone. Now he could take his wife, and he was eager to have her experience the primitive vibe, to explore, and to play…
He was already imagining what it would be like to carry his wife flying in the sky.
Oh right, besides flying, he could take her diving in the sea. Get her a set of diving equipment and take her for a swim in the ocean…
Thinking like this, he nearly flew past his destination.
After landing, he casually put on a ‘beach outfit’ for a beach vacation, regardless of the season, and walked into Anderson’s living room.
Anderson was still staring at the documents on the table, with an uncertain expression, until Yan Fei deliberately made footsteps, at which point he noticed his arrival.
This time, Anderson made sure to take a good look at Boss Yan’s appearance. During their first meeting, he simply dismissed him as a ‘country bumpkin.’ In their second meeting, he was sometimes furious, sometimes humble, and didn’t pay attention.
