Catastrophe Containment Facility
Chapter 1071 - 1023: The Fate of the Plate
CHAPTER 1071: CHAPTER 1023: THE FATE OF THE PLATE
Although Wen Wen intended to slack off, since it was a task assigned by the Black Night Knight, he had to at least put on a show.
While pretending to search around the streets and alleys, he also looked for some intriguing places like the local Sea God Temple and the windfall shops, windfall shops...
All that stood out were the windfall shops, not because Wen Wen liked such places, but because there was hardly anything notable here besides them.
The infrastructure here was much weaker than in other major cities of the Federation, and only the windfall industry seemed to be doing okay.
After the Federation was established, the world united, sharing the same language and standards, with no concept of national borders.
All major powers originally bowed their heads, either dissolving in place or retreating to the shadows, and the Federation gave them many privileges, like oil fields to the Ha Erman Family and the Polar Bear Family.
But Pengwan Island insisted on being stubborn and wanted to break away from the Federation to become an independent sovereign state with equal status to the Earth Federation.
At first, the Earth Federation didn’t pay much attention, treating it as a minor ridiculous act.
Unexpectedly, the residents of Pengwan Island became increasingly reckless, stirring up public opinion to provoke conflicts with the Federation, until finally, the Federation couldn’t bear it anymore and sent a platoon to forcefully suppress it.
Due to this historical reason, Pengwan Island’s development has been struggling, relying only on the ’legalization of windfall shops’ law left from that time to barely maintain economic decency.
Some of the Federation’s big shots seem happy to see this situation because they also need a place to relax legally.
Aside from the windfall shops, Wen Wen was slightly surprised by the density of monsters here; some people listed in the Hunter Association’s wanted list even walked down the streets openly.
Such arrogant individuals couldn’t remain carefree for more than ten minutes after encountering Wen Wen.
Now, Wen Wen could be considered one of the top-tier strongmen of the Federation, and apart from the three Catastrophe Level powerhouses on the island, Wen Wen could roam freely.
But even such a bold and brash Wen Wen suddenly got hit by a flying object.
A plate with pink floral patterns directly hit him on the head, making him scream in surprise.
He was originally standing at a barbecue stall, waiting for his ten skewers of lamb kidney, his eyes fixated on the grill.
When the plate flew over, Wen Wen noticed it, but his defense system told him that it posed no threat, so he didn’t dodge.
This plate had a layer of special power on it, which seemed intended to make it return to a specific location, but that power was worn out as it approached Wen Wen, causing it to shatter upon impact.
Top-tier superpower users like Wen Wen had an extremely high concentration of power around them; any unstable supernatural power would be nullified by the energy naturally dispersing around him upon contact.
"Who is so inconsiderate, throwing plates around in the street?"
Wen Wen squawked in a raspy voice, grabbed two skewers of roasted lamb kidney, and walked in the direction the plate came from.
Halfway there, he stopped because he saw Tao Wen and Li Dazhuang.
"Huh, why are these two harbingers of doom here?"
Every time these two gathered, it was never for any good reason, so upon seeing them, Wen Wen lost interest in pursuing the matter of the plate, becoming more curious about what trouble these two clowns might encounter.
However, his reluctance didn’t mean another innocent victim didn’t want to pursue it.
A fatty, unusually tall at two and a half meters, strode over intimidatingly.
This man carried an astonishing presence, a plate lodged in his head.
Wen Wen’s eyes slightly narrowed upon seeing this man; he looked very much like Zhu Qipei, indicating he should also be a Pig-headed man, and in fact...
He was much stronger than Zhu Qipei!
This man was none other than Zhu Pengpei. No matter what, as a True-order Master, there was no way the plate could have truly hurt him.
But Zhu Pengpei was rotten to the core, extremely misanthropic even.
Well, he was a pig, so being against humans was normal.
Let’s take a simple example of crossing the street: if he was at a crosswalk, he’d repeatedly pretend to cross just to make drivers yield, messing with their psyche.
If not at a crosswalk, and any driver failed to yield, he’d puncture their tires. If no intention to yield, he’d just fall over to play victim.
So after the plate hit him, he made a shallow cut on his head so the plate wedged into the wound.
Then he found Li Dazhuang’s group aggressively, intending to extort them for everything they had, including their underpants.
If he couldn’t get their underpants, that meant these guys weren’t wearing any.
"So, what are you gonna do about this?" he asked, pointing at his head, expressionless.
"I can’t afford it, so... how about you keep the plate?" Yuan Liang said woefully.
Li Dazhuang pulled out his wallet; as a Ranger, his wallet was quite full, at least enough to cover the medical bills.
"Don’t worry, we will compensate for it."
Yet, Zhu Pengpei quickly snatched the wallet and, with a swift move of his hands, made it disappear.
"Pay up quick, or I’ll take your underpants as collateral if you’re not gonna satisfy me!"
Wen Wen, lurking nearby, scratched his butt.
"Why is this pig so obsessed with underpants... dealing with him should be cautious, maybe his powers are somehow related to underpants."
Li Dazhuang, seeing Zhu Pengpei’s sly trick, was momentarily stunned, then the Doom Guardian emerged from him, realizing this guy was a superpower user here to cause trouble on purpose.
"Realized it, huh? But it’s too late, little friends of the Hunter Association!"
Zhu Pengpei’s punch, as big as a sandbag, hit Li Dazhuang’s chest; the Doom Guardian was dispersed by a single breath before even reaching him.
Shock overtook Tao Wen’s face, white light emanated from him, two long blades were unsheathed, slashing towards Zhu Pengpei.
But Zhu Pengpei neither dodged nor evaded, allowing the sharp steel blades to chop at his head; the flesh previously split open by the plate suddenly turned as hard as steel, and the two long blades rebounded directly.
Then, with a cruel grin, he slapped Tao Wen on the shoulder, sending him flying sideways and toppling a truck.
"That old thing is recuperating and desperately needs the flesh and blood of living superpower users, he might pay a huge price to buy these two Demon Hunters."
Wen Wen was ready to act, but upon hearing Zhu Pengpei’s comment, he paused again.
Was the convalescing "old thing" Egger?
So he decided to watch first; if he could trace this back to Egger, wouldn’t it be fantastic to add another Catastrophe Level to the Sanctuary?
