Checking in for 100,000 Years
Chapter 41: The Aloof Black Cat
CHAPTER 41: CHAPTER 41: THE ALOOF BLACK CAT
Upon hearing Luo Li’s shout, Ye Yun, who was inside the carriage, smiled gently.
Lice as big as farm hats are indeed rare. Moreover, every one of these lice has a cultivation base around the Shaping God Realm. Their bodies are as tough as iron. If they aren’t dealt a lethal blow, it’s tough to inflict heavy damage on these lice.
Ye Yun cast his gaze into the distance. With an unperturbed smile, he thought to himself, I’m in no hurry. This is a good chance to continue the training of these two little ones.
They had been defeated in the battle at the Sword God Sect and were just a step away from breaking through to the Divine Bridge Realm. This foggy valley was a perfect opportunity for them to train.
"Senior Sister, I’ve never seen lice so large! Each one has a cultivation base around the Shaping God Realm. This is truly terrifying!" Jun Moxiao exclaimed, his face a mask of shock.
He continuously swung his sword, slashing at the giant lice flying toward him. Although these lice didn’t have wings, their cultivation was profound, and they were capable of flight.
Wave after wave, the army of lice charged towards the black carriage. Even though Luo Li and Jun Moxiao were strong fighters, faced with countless lice, they couldn’t fully protect the carriage.
Strangely, some lice that were flying towards the Black Horse suddenly gave up on their target mid-flight. They abruptly altered their course to attack Luo Li and Jun Moxiao instead.
The Black Horse sneezed. You tiny lice, dare to covet yours truly, Uncle Ma? he thought, sneering with contempt. As for that fellow in the depths of the white fog, I noticed him long ago. In my eyes, Uncle Ma’s eyes, he’s pitifully weak. However, since Master is giving the disciples a chance to train, I shouldn’t interfere. So, all I can do is scare away the lice surrounding me.
Some lice flew towards the carriage, seemingly intending to destroy it. However, upon landing on the carriage, they were repelled by an unseen force and sent flying.
"Don’t worry about the carriage. Just unleash your full strength and kill these lice," Ye Yun said with a smile, shaking his head as he watched Luo Li and Jun Moxiao continuously wielding their swords while still on the carriage.
"Yes, Patriarch!"
Luo Li and Jun Moxiao exchanged a glance, then immediately activated the Divine Dragon Nine-Change Body Technique. They dove into the white fog and began to slaughter the lice swarming towards them.
The strongest of these lice were only at the Molding God Realm Seventh Layer, while the weakest were at the Shaping God Realm First Level. Due to their sheer numbers, Luo Li and Jun Moxiao fought for a full two hours, yet they still could not see an end to them.
The two were immensely shocked. What mysterious power is in this fog that it can nurture so many lice? they wondered.
They continued to slay the lice for another twelve to fourteen hours. Only then did the number of lice in the sky begin to decrease. Soon after, the remaining lice shrieked, dove back into the white fog, and vanished from sight.
Luo Li and Jun Moxiao could finally catch their breath. After fourteen continuous hours of battle, the two hadn’t had a single chance to rest. The pressure had been immense. Luo Li, in particular, found these menacing-looking lice utterly repulsive. She was terrified that these lice would pounce on her, pierce her skin, and suck all her blood.
"Get in the carriage. Let’s go see what’s ahead," Ye Yun said with a gentle chuckle.
The black carriage continued deeper into the foggy valley. Luo Li and Jun Moxiao jumped into the carriage and sagged down, finally able to catch their breath.
"Junior Brother, if the lice here are this terrifying, I’m really worried that Eldest Senior Sister hasn’t managed to escape!" Luo Li said, her face etched with distress.
Jun Moxiao was also overcome with sadness, and tears welled in his eyes.
At that moment, Ye Yun’s voice sounded faintly. "These lice are very picky. They don’t bother with cultivators of lower cultivation bases. So, your Eldest Senior Sister, Su Wanyi, definitely wouldn’t be attacked by them."
Upon hearing what the Patriarch said, Luo Li and Jun Moxiao’s eyes suddenly lit up. If these lice wouldn’t attack their Eldest Senior Sister, then her chances of survival were indeed very high. Perhaps, after escaping from this foggy valley, she’s now hiding in some unknown place.
The Black Horse pulled the carriage onward for about the time it takes an incense stick to burn. The mist began to thin.
Suddenly, Luo Li and Jun Moxiao felt an overwhelming pressure bearing down on them from not too far away.
"What level of cultivation is this?" Jun Moxiao exclaimed, astounded. In the face of such cultivation, he felt as insignificant as an ant.
Luo Li licked her lips but said nothing.
After the Black Horse had traveled a few hundred meters more, all the fog suddenly dissipated. Ahead, a silver waterfall cascaded from a mountaintop, plunging into a deep green pool and stirring up countless white waves.
In this pool grew a blood-red lotus. This red lotus had nine leaves and emitted astonishing spiritual energy fluctuations. A single glance revealed it to be an extraordinary Immortal Herb.
Beside the pool, a large black cat lay crouched. It was curled into a ball, seemingly fast asleep.
"Strange. How did you manage to find your way here?" a deep voice suddenly echoed through the surrounding space.
Then, the large black cat stretched its body. It lazily shook itself, lifted its head, and looked towards the black carriage. It completely ignored the ordinary Black Horse at the front and paid no mind to the black carriage behind it. Finally, its gaze landed on Luo Li and Jun Moxiao.
"’Hmm, strange. How come these two little ones also possess the Dragon God Bloodline?’" the black cat uttered in surprise. It leaped down from the rock, hovering in mid-air as it condescendingly inspected Luo Li and Jun Moxiao.
"’Tsk tsk... These two little ones are even more impressive than the previous one, aren’t they? To think they’ve actually cultivated to the Molding God Realm Tenth Layer! Just one more step and they’ll reach the Divine Bridge Realm.’"
"’With such aptitude and cultivation, they would definitely be considered top-tier geniuses even in the Plough Heaven Dynasty.’"
"’It’s all Master’s fault for being too hasty back then. If he had left a bit later, he might have encountered these two even more exceptional geniuses,’ the large black cat mused to itself, a fervent glint in its eyes."
Luo Li looked at the large cat, feeling immense pressure. She found she couldn’t discern the cultivation of the black cat before her. However, from the large black cat’s soliloquy, she seemed to grasp another implication: it seemed their Eldest Senior Sister, Su Wanyi, had been taken away by this cat’s master.
At this thought, Luo Li lifted her exquisite little face, looked at the large black cat before her, and asked in a solemn voice, "Three months ago, did you see my Eldest Senior Sister?"
The cat extended its blood-red tongue, licked its black fur, and drawled, "Are you referring to the young girl who shares the same Dragon God Bloodline as you two?"
"Her... where is she now?" Luo Li’s breathing instantly grew ragged.
"Why should I tell you?" the large black cat nonchalantly licked its black fur and replied dismissively. It had no intention of bothering with Luo Li, a mere Human Cultivator of the Sculpting God Realm.
