CHAPTER 16: CHAPTER 16: CONTACTING THE PARENTS

Rhonda Sullivan froze, she never expected that just a slap would lead to this outcome.

She instinctively tried to reach out and grab Honey, but was intimidated by the hateful gaze of Seth Sterling.

Seth Sterling was holding Honey, feeling panic for the first time in his life. He wanted to cover the wound, but blood seeped through his fingers and slowly flowed out.

Will Honey die?

Realizing this possibility, Seth’s last bit of composure shattered like foam. He almost helplessly pressed the phone watch to dial Ethan Sterling’s number, his voice unintentionally tinged with sobs.

Ethan Sterling was in the middle of a high-level meeting.

Seeing the name flashing on his phone screen, he raised an eyebrow in surprise. That kid never calls him; did the sun rise from the west today?

He signaled for his staff to continue speaking while he pressed the phone. On the other end, Seth’s strained but nasal voice came through the radio, instinctively tightening his heart.

"Dad, come quickly, Honey’s head is bleeding continuously, I can’t stop it..."

Honey?

The name startled Ethan, as an image of the endearing little girl’s face flashed in his mind, causing his heart to suddenly tighten for some unknown reason.

He gestured to pause the meeting, resolutely heading out: "I’ll be there soon."

Ethan Sterling walked out while using his phone to pull up Seth’s location.

Meanwhile, Ruby Sullivan received a call from the kindergarten—"Hello, is this Honey’s mother? It’s like this, please don’t worry, but we’ve found Honey is missing..."

"Missing, what do you mean missing?" Hearing the news, Ruby Sullivan’s heart tightened, her tone instinctively turning sharp.

"Uh... maybe Honey’s mom, you should come to the kindergarten first."

Ignoring her foot injury, Ruby grabbed her keys and dashed out.

Twenty minutes later, at the kindergarten.

"How do you manage this? Can two kids just vanish without a trace from the kindergarten?"

The headmaster on the other end smiled with difficulty: "Miss Sullivan, you should see for yourself, it’s really beyond our control."

In the security room, the atmosphere was unnaturally quiet as Ruby watched the two children crawl out through the hole in the wall on the monitor, unable to help but ask coldly: "Is there no surveillance outside?"

"Apologies Miss Sterling," the headmaster, aware of Miss Sullivan’s formidable identity, became more obsequious, "we really didn’t expect this to happen, so there’s no installation outside..."

"Then didn’t you call the police?" Ruby interrupted her.

"The incident was sudden, our first thought was to contact the parents, there wasn’t time to..."

"Contact the parents?" Ruby’s voice rose, pressing her head in frustration, her brows furrowing, "Do you think you would only alert the police if something really happened to the children?"

Saying this, she pulled out her phone to make a call when suddenly an unfamiliar number rang. She answered, and the man’s voice on the other end was disturbingly familiar.

"City Central Hospital, Honey is here."

And promptly hung up the phone.

The voice on the other end belonged to Ethan Sterling.

Ruby’s face immediately turned fierce and resolute.

Honey is in his hands? What does he know? Why wants her to go to the hospital?

No matter what happened, Honey was her life, as long as Ethan Sterling harmed a single hair on her head, she’d be determined to end with him!

Thinking of this, Ruby put down the phone and rushed to City Central Hospital.
