Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 32: Handsome Assistant
CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: HANDSOME ASSISTANT
Ruby Sullivan needed to hire another assistant, which was clearly stated in the labor contract with The Sterling Group. She had already informed HR about it on her first day. If it weren’t for her car accident, the interviews should have been conducted last week.
In the conference room, Ruby Sullivan glanced at the newcomer and began muttering his resume, "Levi Joyce, five years of experience as a band drummer, hobby is yo-yo..." At the end of the resume, there was a high-definition stage photo. In the dim light, the person in the photo had a sharp look and wore a simple black T-shirt, exuding a superstar aura.
Just like the young man in front of her, interviewing with a smile on his face, dimples at the corners of his mouth, although wearing an obviously ill-fitting cheap suit, his face didn’t lose any charm.
Ruby Sullivan was momentarily unsure of what to ask and it wasn’t appropriate to have him drum on a table to showcase his talent on the spot.
Was the HRD not enchanted by his good looks?
Sitting on the side, Ethan Sterling frowned, "Out."
Levi Joyce was a bit panicked and said urgently, "I majored in art, understand aesthetics, and I’m hardworking. Please give me a chance."
"Out!" Ethan Sterling didn’t want to waste time.
Ruby Sullivan tilted her head to look at him and suddenly felt a bit irritated.
Wasn’t someone supposed to just be an observer and not interfere?
"Wait." She raised an eyebrow, "Can you start the job right away today?"
"No problem." Levi Joyce’s eyes lit up, automatically ignoring Ethan Sterling’s intimidating dark face.
Ruby Sullivan nodded, "Wait here for a moment, the HR will come to you shortly." She then gave Ethan Sterling a faint smile, "Trouble Mr. Sterling to send me back to the office, thank you."
Ethan Sterling took a deep breath but kept his patience, got up, and helped push her wheelchair.
Ruby Sullivan’s office was on the same floor as Ethan Sterling’s, located at the innermost part of The Fragrance Lab. While escorting her inside, they had to pass through a gauntlet of looks from the researchers.
Once inside, Ethan Sterling closed the door behind him and asked in a deep voice, "Reason."
"Firstly, out of the five interviewees, he’s the only male. I need a strong assistant given my current situation. Secondly, Honey likes handsome guys. An important part of my assistant’s job is to pick Honey up from school when I’m unavailable and stay with her until I get home. This special term was also included in the contract appendix with The Sterling Group." She glanced at Ethan Sterling’s stern face and smiled, "Lastly, much like my daughter, I too like handsome guys."
Ethan Sterling was exasperated, "Very well."
"Take care, Mr. Sterling." Ruby Sullivan said to his back, raising her voice.
Several minutes later, in the president’s office, Ethan Sterling coldly looked at the trembling HDR standing opposite, questioning, "Why did Levi Joyce make it to the second round of interviews? Do you find your current job too boring and want to change?"
The little sister in HR shivered with her spine stiff and her head lowered, "Mr. Sterling, Wenny specifically instructed that it’s best to hire a man and one who looks good." Although Levi Joyce was her college friend’s younger brother, she only reached out because he met the criteria.
Ethan Sterling pressed his forehead, full of unvented anger, "Out!"
"Yes." The HR sister felt like she’d been pardoned and quickly turned to leave.
Outside, Howard, despite a bit of a headache, still came in with a cup of coffee after knocking softly.
He set down the coffee and reported, "Mr. Sterling, people from Meridia have sent word that ever since Mr. Sullivan went there, the hospital staff have been attending to him, and there hasn’t been any appearance of family."
"Keep watching." Ethan Sterling waved Howard out, paused for a moment, and began handling business matters, forcibly suppressing the irritation in his heart.
She’s just a woman, he thought with disdain, wearing a dark expression.
At The Fragrance Lab, Levi Joyce, who had completed his onboarding procedures, cheerfully introduced himself to everyone.
Originally, there were about ten researchers in the lab, but now only the four selected by Ruby Sullivan remained. They were all girls and seeing such fresh meat like Levi Joyce, although they stayed silent, there was undeniable delight in their hearts.
Ruby Sullivan usually wasn’t very authoritative at work. If it hadn’t been for her assistant at The Lawson Group unwilling to leave his fiery Italian girlfriend, she wouldn’t have needed to find a new one. Fortunately, this new hire was equally good-looking, and she’d suddenly realized she still had a preference for Eastern men’s faces.
"Your main job is to take notes, including my schedule, meeting notes, and fragrance records, as well as some arrangements in my personal life, such as picking up my daughter from nursery school."
"Hmm, the HR department has already explained, and I guarantee to complete the tasks." Levi Joyce, who had never worked before, was nervous in every part of his being.
Ruby Sullivan was very satisfied with this attitude, emphasizing the last point, "No wearing perfume during work hours. That’s about it. My leg’s been a bit inconvenient these days; you might have to endure a bit more hardship." She smiled, tapping the cast on her leg.
"Okay, Mr. Wallace."
"Take it easy, I won’t eat you. By the way, the product department has no dress code, but after starting work, you have to change into the lab-specific white coat. If you come in looking that ugly again tomorrow, you’ll leave by yourself." She raised an eyebrow, "Didn’t you say you had an eye for aesthetics?"
Levi Joyce then smiled, the dimples appearing again, "Mr. Wallace, I think I’ve seen you before."
Ruby Sullivan didn’t know what the kid meant and wasn’t interested in wasting time in conversation, "You can call me Wenny from now on but don’t forget I’m your supervisor. Alright, help me up to change into the work clothes."
In the afternoon, Ruby Sullivan took Levi Joyce to a meeting, and Ethan Sterling watched that guy assist her up to the podium, his brow furrowed without easing up.
The first batch of perfumes Ruby Sullivan crafted for The Sterling Group would abandon her usual elegant, luxurious, seductive signature scents and instead adopt sweet tropical aromas, creating the main theme of "Exquisite Piggy Girls."
After the PPT presentation, the lights in the conference room were switched on, and President Lawson from the marketing department immediately voiced objections.
"Wenny, at The Sterling Group, we have always pursued a light luxury route, but your product positioning seems only suitable for young girls, doesn’t it?" He smiled, "I suggest you first understand the purchasing power of domestic women."
"Every woman has a girly heart. My products never set age limits for their target audience. Moreover, the so-called light luxury products slightly exceed your income level but make you want to scrimp once for a splurge. What I aim for is to create perfumes every woman wants to bring home after just one sniff."
Ruby Sullivan wore an orange makeup look today and smiled sweetly.
Initially, she didn’t want to scare anyone in the first meeting, but now she regretted it a bit.
Since when could the marketing department comment on the product department? Were domestic companies just that undisciplined?
President Lawson was not to be outdone, "I indeed do not understand perfumes, but I understand the market, and I hope your confidence doesn’t turn into arrogance."
Ethan Sterling smiled, "I believe Wenny will use her product to answer everyone’s doubts. Meeting adjourned." After saying this, he got up and left the conference room.
Ruby Sullivan raised an eyebrow. Why did she feel Ethan Sterling’s sly smile just now had a hint of watching the show?
As Levi Joyce was pushing her out, Howard returned, leaned in, and whispered, "President Lawson’s niece was previously a researcher in the fragrance product department."
Upon thinking about it, Ruby Sullivan remembered HR had indeed mentioned it.
"Oh, I love personal vendettas." She laughed. If others didn’t trouble her, how could she trouble others?
