Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 456: Checking Up
CHAPTER 456: CHAPTER 456: CHECKING UP
Ruby Sullivan felt that as a competent boyfriend, after wrapping up a social event, he should at least send a message to his girlfriend to let her know he’s safe. Even if it’s too late and he doesn’t want to disturb her rest, no news at all is unacceptable!
She really wanted to say a few words to Ethan Sterling. After silently scolding him in her heart, she decided to call him, but no one answered.
It was almost eleven o’clock. What kind of social event required Ethan Sterling to attend a second round? For the first time, she developed the keen sense of a girlfriend, and immediately called Aidan Sinclair. It took quite a while for him to answer, and he seemed to have been asleep already.
Ruby Sullivan incredulously asked, "You’re already asleep this early?"
"Did you call just to ask this?" The secret to staying youthful is to exercise well, sleep early, and get up early. Aidan Sinclair certainly wouldn’t tell her that his recent lifestyle has been exceedingly healthy and positively sunny.
"Nothing, bye." She hung up after speaking, her facial features scrunching up together unwillingly.
She thought Aidan Sinclair and Ethan Sterling would be together, but clearly, they weren’t.
Unable to figure it out, she angrily tossed her phone aside. Even after lying down, she angrily covered her face with the quilt, feeling for a moment as if the whole world didn’t love her anymore. She transferred all her emotions into being mad at Ethan Sterling and accidentally fell asleep, proving how utterly boring being angry at Ethan truly was.
Actually, Ethan Sterling didn’t ignore the calls on purpose, nor was his phone on silent without him knowing; he genuinely didn’t hear the calls under normal conditions.
He was dragged into a karaoke bar by the drunken Skylar Aldrin. The two were currently singing a duet of "If This Isn’t Love." Even though only one of them drank too much, it looked like they were both on a drunken spree.
At first, Ethan Sterling refused to pick up the microphone, but seeing how hoarse he sounded trying, he realized his voice wasn’t much better. Even if he didn’t forget due to memory blackout tomorrow, he’d have no right to laugh at Skylar.
Thus, the never-before-seen karaoke talent that was Ethan Sterling couldn’t put the microphone down once he picked it up.
No wonder so many people love to vent at karaoke bars; the feeling of shouting loudly is indeed pretty good.
After one song ended, the two started an exciting duel of "Love Until Death."
The mesmerizing sound filled the small private booth while the two engrossed in singing were thoroughly thrilled, singing until past 2 a.m. before walking out of the karaoke bar with hoarse voices.
Ethan Sterling didn’t know where Skylar Aldrin lived, so he found a hotel nearby and left Skylar there. Because it was so late, he didn’t think to call Ruby Sullivan. It wasn’t until he got home, tidied up, and prepared for sleep that he saw the missed calls and unread messages on his phone.
It was 3 a.m. by this time. He thought for a moment and didn’t dare to call; instead, he got out of bed.
Ruby Sullivan was sleepy and hazily smelled a familiar scent. She giggled foolishly, thinking she was dreaming, and naturally rolled over to hug Ethan Sterling, who lay beside her.
This dream seemed so real, and she quite liked it.
The next day when Ruby Sullivan opened her eyes and saw the man in her arms was indeed a real man, she suddenly flew into a rage. She slapped his finely chiseled handsome face, which ended up resembling a squashed eggplant. "Where were you last night? Confess honestly!"
Ethan Sterling was still sleepy, but upon hearing her lecture, he couldn’t help but laugh. Helplessly, his mouth was pinched into an O shape by her hand, and he said with difficulty, "Being a life coach for Skylar Aldrin."
"Skylar Aldrin?" Ruby Sullivan was surprised and thought carefully. He indeed never explicitly said he was socializing, only that he had an appointment with someone. She assumed that meant socializing at night. "What kind of life coach?" she reacted and asked further.
Ethan Sterling yawned, feeling that one or two sentences couldn’t explain it clearly. To make her quickly shut up and let him go, he forcibly pulled her hand away and pulled her back into the bed, directly blocking her mouth with his lips.
"Scoundrel!" Ruby Sullivan screamed and pushed him away. But seeing how he couldn’t open his eyes, she didn’t have the heart to keep bothering him. She pouted and helplessly got up to wash.
With a pile of work waiting, she truly didn’t have time to stay in bed any longer.
She decided she absolutely could not go to Rhonda Sullivan’s all-female single’s party.
Rhonda was obviously trying to mess with her by inviting her. With Ethan Sterling there as a bodyguard during the wedding, she didn’t want to make a fool of herself. If Rhonda wasn’t foolish enough to truly provoke L for her pleasure, even keeping a backup, she wouldn’t dare show off without L’s permission.
When she went out for breakfast, she considerately informed her daughter and son that their dad was back. The son, naturally, just calmly replied with a "hmm," as if his dad should have returned home anyway. But the daughter was different; she immediately put down her spoon and rushed to the bedroom to find her dad.
Seth Sterling turned his head to look at his sister and then curiously asked Ruby Sullivan, "What did dad do wrong again?" Mom clearly sent the sister to torment dad. If he was already awake, he’d have come out with mom. If he weren’t awake, he would be too sleepy to want to be disturbed.
But being disturbed by his sister, dad would definitely have no morning grumpiness, just the miserable inability to sleep.
So Seth Sterling naturally arrived at the conclusion of his earlier question.
Ruby Sullivan was used to her son seeing through her little ploys. She quietly answered, "He didn’t come home last night and claimed he was with a male colleague."
Seth Sterling nodded, "If it were a female colleague, it’d be excusable. Being with a male colleague is absolutely unacceptable."
Ruby Sullivan was drinking porridge and almost choked to death upon hearing her son’s words.
Mama Bennett quickly came over to rub her back, "What’s wrong? Drinking too fast? There’s no one to snatch it from you." Such reassuring words, usually for kids, made Ruby Sullivan’s face even redder in front of her son.
Once relieved, she thanked Mama Bennett and, once she had walked away, quietly educated her son, "It’s not okay with a female colleague either!"
*
Rhonda Sullivan’s single’s party was held at a very famous high-end private club. She wore a very daring bunny girl outfit with bunny ears on her head and a fluffy bunny tail stuck to her backside.
After the ladies arrived at the club, they went to the room to change clothes. Some wore bikinis, some wore nurse outfits, and others wore police uniforms. To the unknowing, it looked like a massive filming set.
Gwen Yates was startled by these women’s outfits when she arrived, as she only brought a cow-print onesie. Wearing it and sitting among them, she looked like an existence that broke through the dimensional wall.
Rhonda Sullivan looked around and found Azure Hollis was missing, so she called her. It was busy for quite a while before the call connected.
A scream came through the receiver: "Ah, help!"
Rhonda Sullivan was dumbfounded.
