Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 466: The Wedding Must Go On
CHAPTER 466: CHAPTER 466: THE WEDDING MUST GO ON
Ruby Sullivan and K went to the private dining room to have breakfast,
Ethan Sterling and Jack were there, looking like they were having a good time.
Jack has no friends in Celestia. His and Rhonda Sullivan’s plan is to have three weddings, one here, one in Gallia, and one in Ankoria, so only Jack’s family came this time.
K glanced at Ethan Sterling and immediately showed a shy expression, asking her brother in French, "Who is this handsome guy?"
Jack was practicing Chinese, speaking to Ethan Sterling in Chinese, and K thought Ethan Sterling couldn’t understand French, so she asked bluntly.
As soon as she finished asking, Ethan Sterling smiled and took Ruby Sullivan’s hand, letting her sit next to him.
K then smiled a bit disappointedly, "Hey!"
Jack chimed in, "That’s right, he’s Wenny’s husband."
Ruby Sullivan raised an eyebrow and said with a bit of smugness, "Sorry." Well, this was the kind of feeling she anticipated in her younger years, and now, she just found it amusing to tease K.
"Hello," Ethan Sterling greeted in French.
"Hello," K was instantly even more embarrassed, "Alright, I think you deserve my goddess."
Everyone laughed after hearing this, and the atmosphere turned extremely harmonious.
Jack returned to the previous topic, "I was just discussing Charles with Sterling, Wenny, do you know this painter?"
Ruby Sullivan tilted her head to glance at Ethan Sterling, only to see a faint smile on his face, as if he didn’t feel any connection to Charles.
"Well, actually, I also like Charles’ paintings. When I was abroad, I would go to his exhibitions whenever I had the time."
"He’s always been a painter I’ve wanted to meet, but unfortunately, he’s too mysterious. Also, this year, his exhibition is starting in Shinsei. It’s his first time hosting an exhibition in Astoria, and I wonder what new artworks will be displayed. It’s been a long time without any news from him, and I really look forward to it."
Ruby Sullivan nodded in agreement, thinking to herself that Charles hosting an exhibition in Shinsei might have been out of necessity.
The subsequent small talk was somewhat light but appeared very harmonious.
Before long, Brandon Sullivan was brought to the hotel, and Ruby Sullivan and Ethan Sterling went to the banquet hall for a symbolic engagement, mainly to keep an eye on Brandon so that nothing would go wrong.
The old man was wearing a black suit, with his hair slicked with a lot of gel, looking very spirited.
As the ceremony time approached, the groom was nowhere to be found. Rhonda Sullivan had called Jack several times with no answer, so she could only go to Ruby Sullivan.
"Did you see Jack this morning?"
Ruby Sullivan shook her head, "When we separated, he told K he was going to check on his parents in their room." Seeing Rhonda Sullivan about to turn around to find him, she reached out and held her back, "I’ll go, you’re not convenient in your wedding dress."
Rhonda Sullivan was stunned for a moment, then nodded. "Thank you." She couldn’t remember how many years it had been since she last said those words to Ruby Sullivan.
Ruby Sullivan pursed her lips and went with Ethan Sterling to Jack’s parents’ room.
On a wedding day, the groom wouldn’t just disappear for no reason, but Ruby Sullivan still hoped it was something as simple as Jack having an upset stomach.
Standing at the room door, Ruby Sullivan heard the sounds of arguing. She exchanged a glance with Ethan Sterling, feeling incredibly anxious inside. Ethan Sterling held her hand and knocked on the door with considerable force, and the inside soon quieted down.
It was Jack who opened the door, his brows slightly furrowed, and he looked unwell, obviously having been arguing.
"Oh, hey, Sterling..." He was a bit tongue-tied, paused for a moment, then stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him, nervously wringing his hands, "Sorry, there’s a bit of an issue."
"I can see that," Ethan Sterling cut him off before he could continue, simply saying, "We have a saying in Celestia that family disgrace should not be made public. Even if you want to divorce her, you should at least finish this wedding."
Jack was momentarily speechless.
Ruby Sullivan looked at this indecisive man, remembering how he proclaimed his love for Rhonda Sullivan just two hours earlier, and suddenly felt angry, "You want to escape at a time like this, to force her to her death?"
Jack lowered his head, "Someone sent my parents an indecent video of Rhonda and a lot of news reports about her past misdeeds, and what’s worst for my parents is that she has a history of mental illness..."
"And you?" Ruby Sullivan suddenly despised this man, using his parents as a shield, what’s that about? Isn’t it enough that he likes her? Besides, all of that is Rhonda Sullivan’s past, as long as they can live well together in the future, what’s the big deal about mental illness? It’s not like it’s hereditary, what’s there to mind!
She forgot that her every thought now was forcing others, only feeling that everything in front of her was unacceptable.
Jack took a deep breath, struggling to maintain his composure, "I didn’t know about any of these things, at the very least, she should have told me about her illness!"
Ruby Sullivan still wanted to say something else, but Ethan Sterling pulled her back.
Calmly, he said, "Finish the wedding, and you can divorce immediately afterward. If you insist on breaking up now, I believe there are many ways she can ensure you don’t leave this place."
Jack frowned, angered by his words, "Are you threatening me?"
"Informing."
After saying this, Ethan Sterling pulled out his phone in front of him and called the security department of The Sterling Group, "Bring someone over immediately."
Jack’s face turned completely bleak as he turned back into the room.
A few minutes later, the family of four, all with grim faces, walked out of the room, clearly concerned about causing trouble and having to accept Ethan Sterling’s proposal.
Ruby Sullivan knew this was only a delaying tactic, but it could at least save Rhonda Sullivan’s face for now, which was all they could do.
Although Jack wore a darkened expression, the wedding ended relatively smoothly. Rhonda Sullivan, of course, noticed something was off, but she knew she could only stay silent at a time like this and get through the situation first.
Ruby Sullivan and Ethan Sterling left after the ceremony ended.
Rhonda Sullivan was bound to face an intense storm. As estranged and hostile sisters, she had no interest in watching the drama, nor did she want the other to misunderstand her intentions. Going home to watch "My Little Pony" with her child seemed more appealing.
Even so, she was a bit curious about who was so spiteful. In her view, only Rhonda Sullivan could do something like this herself.
"The Sterling Group people have already tracked down the person who delivered the USB using the surveillance footage; they’re probably on their way to catch the person now."
Ruby Sullivan didn’t expect Ethan Sterling would help to catch the person, and she couldn’t help but sourly say, "I don’t think we need to help her this much."
Ethan Sterling smiled faintly, reaching up to pat her head, "It’s not to help her, it’s just to get the most direct evidence while it’s hot, to prevent her from suspecting you. I’m leaving for Bellaza on a business trip tomorrow, things over there are a bit tricky and might take a while. While I’m abroad, you must take care of yourself."
"All for me?"
"What else?" Ethan Sterling pinched her cheek, not understanding what there was to doubt.
Ruby Sullivan squinted and smiled, suddenly realizing why she was so angry when she saw Jack’s indecision; she also had indecent videos...
