Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 481: No More Ties
CHAPTER 481: CHAPTER 481: NO MORE TIES
All of Brandon Sullivan’s properties, including several houses domestically and abroad, cars, and savings, were left to Rhonda Sullivan. Considering the Sullivan Group shares, as long as Rhonda doesn’t act recklessly in her life, she can live in luxury without doing anything.
Ruby Sullivan wasn’t surprised when she heard this result from the lawyer. Since she had already declared to sever all ties with him, she naturally didn’t long for his estate. She just wondered if his soul, after death, had seen the ghost-like state of Rhonda Sullivan and regretted that his favored daughter turned out this way?
Ruby Sullivan knew she would never find out whether her father regretted this; it was an insignificant matter that would become the deepest buried conflict in her heart. She didn’t know how long it would take to come to terms with it, or if she could.
Now, she was completely disconnected from The Sullivan Family. She wanted to return to the old house to move out her mother’s belongings and some of her own left there.
Cece said that if she couldn’t reach Rhonda Sullivan by the end of the month, she’d leave on her own. So she hoped they would come before the month’s end.
She and Ethan Sterling picked a weekend to visit. Upon arrival, Cece took them to the warehouse, saying that when she first joined The Sullivan Family, Rhonda Sullivan had her do a big clean-up, discard many things, but the old man secretly got her to take things to the warehouse—they were some old photos.
"These should be the things you’re looking for," Cece opened the warehouse door, "I’ve been tidying up here again recently when I have some free time."
The warehouse was very clean, and everything was neatly placed, showing that this young maid was not only industrious but also orderly in her work.
Ruby Sullivan looked at the things that had been specially sorted into view and nodded, "That’s right, these are my mom’s old photos. Here... these are photos from before my wedding."
She picked up an album, flipped it open, and saw herself in her earlier chubby state almost double the size of Rhonda Sullivan. However, she didn’t feel shy in front of the camera at all, striking a ’yeah’ gesture with a smile that nearly concealed her eyes—a depiction of happiness overflowing from the picture.
"You were so adorable before," Ethan Sterling commented, looking at the little chubby girl in the photos, his lips forming a subtle smile, his gaze gentle, sincerely finding the wife in the pictures endearing.
Ruby Sullivan tilted her head at him with a glare, thinking this man’s words were becoming more unreliable, once knowing how much he disdained her.
Cece listened in surprise and said, "Is that girl in the photos you? You look completely unrecognizable now!"
Ruby Sullivan smiled, didn’t say much, put down the album, "Is this all?"
"Yes, this is everything sorted out at that time. The family photo with the old lady and yours had already been picked out by Miss Sullivan and should be inserted in the album."
"Thank you for preserving these things so well," Ruby Sullivan expressed genuine gratitude since every item here was packed with memories.
"Let me help you get it to the car," Cece said with a smile and picked up a box.
Ethan Sterling picked up the remaining slightly larger one, and Ruby Sullivan took a delicate jewelry box on its own.
Reportedly, this box was part of her mother’s wedding dowry containing old-fashioned gold jewelry inside. Though the combined value is considerable, they’re not suitable to wear unless they’re remade.
Coincidentally, as the trio exited the warehouse, they saw the long-absent Rhonda Sullivan, pulling two large suitcases, looking like she was moving back.
Upon seeing them, she first frowned before asking unpleasantly, "What are you doing at my home?" She said this while putting down her luggage and walking over quickly.
"I came to get my mom’s and my things," Ruby Sullivan explained.
Rhonda Sullivan glanced at the box in Cece’s hands, arrogantly pulled out an album, looked at it, then tossed it back. She suddenly slapped Cece hard, "I hired you to watch the house, not help others move their things!"
Cece’s cheek immediately turned red, frightened, she lowered her head, not daring to look at her.
Ruby Sullivan didn’t expect her to lash out; she stepped forward, standing in front of Cece, "If you have any complaints, direct them at me?" Behind her, Ethan Sterling had already placed his box on the ground, ready to guard against Rhonda Sullivan’s actions.
Considering this woman’s vindictive nature,
The lesson Ruby Sullivan taught Rhonda at the hospital would not be easily forgotten.
Rhonda Sullivan sneered, "Didn’t you see dad’s will? Everything under his name was left to me, including every blade of grass and every screw in this house. You now want to take things from here without my permission, which amounts to burglary, you know?"
Ruby Sullivan looked at the unreasonable and self-righteous woman with a smile that seemed both amused and annoyed, "Then go ahead and sue me." She put the items down, "I warn you, step aside now, or I’ll make you look like you did at the hospital, like a pig-head."
Rhonda Sullivan’s face turned an iron blue from anger, "Do you think you can act so arrogantly just because Ethan Sterling stands behind you?"
"That’s right, I can be this arrogant." Ruby Sullivan felt she had more to say, but she didn’t want to hear it, so she didn’t give her the chance, "Move aside."
She stared Rhonda Sullivan down with unyielding eyes, forcing her to step aside, allowing Cece to lead the way while she and Ethan Sterling brought up the rear.
Rhonda Sullivan angrily whipped out her phone to record the process, shouting furiously, "Expect a court summons!"
"I’ll tell you the same, I already have all the evidence of Miss’s defamation against me, so I hope you’re ready with a lawyer, or prepare for Miss’s closure directly." She would make her pay so much it hurt.
After putting the things away, Ruby Sullivan felt uneasy about Rhonda Sullivan, "Why don’t you resign now? I’m worried she’ll lose her mind again after we leave."
"Don’t worry, she can’t just hit me without reason, can she? I am a living person, and I know how to protect myself," Cece tried to sound relaxed.
In fact, she didn’t want to lose her job at The Sullivan Family. Ruby Sullivan paid her twice the market rate, and with only two servants in the house, the other maid was easy to get along with, and she had plenty of free time to study for the adult college entrance exams in her room.
If she switched to another employer’s house, she might not get such good treatment. Thus, she’d decided that even if she got a little wronged today, as long as Rhonda Sullivan didn’t fire her, she wouldn’t voluntarily leave.
Ruby Sullivan, hearing her say this, didn’t feel it appropriate to persuade further and told her to call if anything came up, assuring her that even if Rhonda Sullivan sued, they would handle it and definitely wouldn’t let it affect her.
Though they had only interacted a few times recently, Ruby Sullivan and Ethan Sterling were comfortable to be around, tempting her to ask if they needed a maid.
Cece saw them off, but after a few steps in the yard, she was kicked hard from behind and fell to the ground.
