Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 7: Deep Gratitude
CHAPTER 7: CHAPTER 7: DEEP GRATITUDE
On the way home, Sasha Shaw kept talking nonstop.
Even though they hadn’t seen each other less while abroad, the thought that they wouldn’t have to video call across the ocean anymore put Sasha in an incredibly good mood. However, Ruby Sullivan seemed preoccupied, always inexplicably thinking of Ethan Sterling’s face. What would he think if he knew Wenny was actually Ruby?
Both returned to their residence with their own worries.
Sasha liked Honey very much and kept teasing her, soon causing giggles to erupt. Ruby seemed heavy-hearted, "I might have to look for a place to move out in a few days, Sasha, do you have any recommendations?"
"Why did you suddenly think of moving out?" Sasha was teasing Honey at the time, and upon hearing this, she was taken aback, appearing a bit displeased.
Ruby sighed, "When you came to see me today, Ethan Sterling must have seen you. With his suspicious nature, he is surely going to question our relationship now, and I’m afraid there might be trouble."
"But if you move out, what about Honey?"
Honey, who had been mentioned, was a bit slow to react, looking somewhat comical with half a lollipop in her mouth.
"I’m planning to send her to kindergarten. She’s already five and can’t possibly stay at home all the time." Besides, she wanted Melody to spend more time with peers, as most kids started school at three. She didn’t want Melody to feel out of place.
"But her health..." Concern flashed through Sasha’s eyes.
At the mention of this, Ruby’s expression changed as well.
Honey’s health had always been a knot in her heart.
Perhaps it was because the delivery was too arduous, which led to the child being born with congenital regenerative anemia disorder.
Since she was little, Honey was more prone to injuries than other kids, and every time she bled, it was difficult to stop. Ruby had taken Honey abroad for treatment for a long time but never succeeded in curing her, because something was missing... This was also the reason she insisted on returning to her home country under the guise of visiting family this time.
Her mind wandered back to five years ago, to the bowl of nauseating medicine forced down her throat, and to Ethan Sterling’s eyes filled with cold contempt.
If it wasn’t for that medicine, how would Honey’s condition be as it is now?
A trace of viciousness flashed across her eyes, this was what Ethan Sterling owed Honey, so she rightfully should reclaim it.
Honey was her lifeline, and as long as she could get her child cured, she wouldn’t hesitate at any cost!
Noticing Ruby’s odd mood, Honey came over clinging lovingly, resting herself on her mom’s shoulder and said in her childish voice, "Mommy, don’t be sad, Honey will be good."
Ruby calmed herself, crouched down to meet Honey at eye level, "Honey, let me ask you, what should you do if you accidentally bleed at kindergarten?"
"If I bleed, I should first go to a teacher and tell them what happened, then go to the hospital, and finally, call mommy."
For these questions, five-year-old Honey answered fluently, clearly having rehearsed them many times in her mind, her sensibility evoking heartache.
"Remember, Honey, no matter what, your safety is the most important thing."
"Mhm! Honey remembers!" Honey’s expression was serious as she nodded hard.
Seeing her friend’s resolution, Sasha realized she couldn’t persuade her any further and had to give up, "Okay, I’ll help you find a place near the kindergarten."
Ruby smiled gratefully, wanting to say something, when Sasha suddenly made a disdainful face and tossed a tissue into her lap.
"Don’t cry, if you really want to thank me, treat me to two big meals!"
Holding the tissue, Ruby sighed, "Two meals can’t express our deep feelings, at least six." Sasha nodded approvingly and gave a thumbs up.
Melody swallowed the last piece of candy and silently thought to herself, Mommy and Mrs. Shaw can really eat a lot.
