Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 9: Confrontation
CHAPTER 9: CHAPTER 9: CONFRONTATION
Watching Seth Sterling walk towards the kindergarten, Ethan Sterling retracted his gaze and instructed the driver to prepare for departure.
A quick side glance, however, caught a familiar figure, and his eyes paused momentarily.
"Howard, drive over there."
Howard looked at the woman in a light blue dress who had just dropped off her child at the kindergarten not far away, and nodded: "Yes, boss."
Ruby Sullivan watched Honey go inside, turned to leave, and suddenly saw a black Bentley stopping beside her. The rear right window rolled down, revealing a pair of narrow eyes with a hint of mischief: "Miss Wenny, what a coincidence."
Ruby Sullivan was startled for a moment, not expecting to meet Ethan Sterling here. She quickly regained her composure and flashed an impeccable smile: "Yes, what a coincidence to meet Mr. Sterling."
Ethan Sterling ignored the distance in her words: "Would you like me to give you a ride to the company?"
"It would be a pleasure," Ruby Sullivan said with a smile, pulling open the car door to get in.
"Is Miss Wenny here to drop off her daughter?" Ethan Sterling twirled the ring on his hand, asking nonchalantly.
"Yes, and you, Mr. Sterling? I remember the company isn’t on the way here." Ruby Sullivan responded gracefully, subtly deflecting the question back to him.
Before Ethan Sterling could respond, the driver seemed to notice something, his tone somewhat anxious: "Mr. Sterling, the young master left his lunchbox. I’ll go deliver it to him."
Ruby Sullivan was stunned, young master?
Ethan Sterling frowned, his gaze falling on a delicate cartoon lunchbox.
He paused, then spoke: "No need, he has a card with him, and he can buy whatever he wants to eat. Even if we send him lunch, he might not eat it."
"Oh, okay." Howard quickly replied.
For a moment, the car was silent.
After a while, Ruby Sullivan spoke softly: "Mr. Sterling has a child now?"
"Yes." Ethan Sterling replied quietly.
Ruby Sullivan said nothing, but her mind kept echoing—Ethan Sterling has a child now.
Indeed, how could she forget, Rhonda Sullivan was pregnant five years ago too!
Back then, wasn’t it because he only wanted her child that he forced her to drink abortion pills!
It’s just that over the years, she hadn’t heard any news about Ethan Sterling having a child, and perhaps she was just deceiving herself not wanting to think about it.
Now it seemed, foolish, utterly foolish!
If she had even a slight thought about him over the past five years, at this moment, she’d rather slap herself twice!
Ruby Sullivan let out a cold laugh: "Mr. Sterling’s child also goes to school here?"
Ethan Sterling nodded, his face somewhat gloomy.
"Mr. Sterling must care a lot about his child," Ruby Sullivan smirked sarcastically, "there’s never been any news about Mr. Sterling having a child over the years, it must be very precious, so there’s been no leaks."
"Don’t worry, Mr. Sterling, I won’t say anything unnecessary at the company."
After speaking, Ruby Sullivan shut her mouth, turned to look out the window, her nails digging into her flesh, yet she felt no pain.
Ethan Sterling glanced at her in surprise, this woman had been like a prickly cactus every time they met.
"Miss Wenny, I don’t seem to have offended you?"
"Hmm, I’m sleep-deprived, irritable." After speaking, Ruby Sullivan really closed her eyes.
Ethan Sterling: "..."
After a while, as if the woman beside him really fell asleep, Ethan Sterling’s scrutinizing gaze moved away from her.
"Howard, open the sunshade."
"Yes." The sunshade opened, making the car noticeably darker.
Ethan Sterling played with the ring in his hand, his gaze deep.
Inside the kindergarten.
Honey stood nervously on the podium, led by the teacher. Her clenched palms were full of sweat as she looked anxiously at the seats below.
A sea of heads, all around.
The teacher bent down, lovingly looking at the delicate little girl, even softening her voice: "This is a new friend, Melody Wallace, everyone welcome her! Honey, who would you like to sit with?"
"I..." Honey surveyed the crowd below, hesitating slightly.
Seth Sterling happened to look up, his gaze calm and unwavering as he looked at the little girl on the stage, and for a moment, their eyes met, surprising him.
This child... inexplicably gave him a sense of familiarity.
At that moment, Honey’s eyes suddenly lit up, as she excitedly pointed to Seth in the front row, her voice gleeful: "Teacher, I want to sit next to him!"
Seth’s mouth twitched, a sense of foreboding enveloping him.
But Honey didn’t sense his resistance at all, only looking excited.
This little brother is as handsome as that Handsome Uncle!
"Alright, Honey, you can sit with Seth Sterling." The teacher hadn’t expected her to choose Seth in one glance, considering he was the coldest in the class, despite his prominent family background and good looks, he was always alone, and even the teacher sometimes wasn’t sure about his thoughts.
Honey flashed a big smile, bouncing over to Seth’s side, reaching out her hand, cheerful and bright: "Hello, brother! I’m Honey!"
Seth discreetly glanced down at her, his hand moved slightly, pulling his things closer to him.
Even being rejected, Honey wasn’t upset. She was naturally a bit oblivious, so she just touched her nose, put down her backpack, sat on the bench, and leaned closer to Seth.
"Brother, you look just like the uncle I met the other day."
Seth glanced at her with a hint of disdain, initially wanting to ignore her, but somehow Ethan Sterling’s morning lecture about respecting others popped into his mind, so he replied reservedly with one word: "Oh."
Honey wasn’t deterred by his aloofness, instead, she was thrilled—he looked at her!
