City’s Best Divine Doctor
Chapter 1152 - 1151: Illusion
CHAPTER 1152: CHAPTER 1151: ILLUSION
Due to what happened over the past two nights, Master Liu also mentioned that while at the construction site, no matter what is heard at night, it’s best not to go out.
As for whether A Fei, Uncle Biao, and Er Dan are really still alive?
What can be certain is that in Master Liu’s opinion, those are simply illusions, mere deceptive visions.
As night falls again, though tonight at dinner many people who usually drink alcohol or water tried to drink less because they didn’t know who among them might disappear tonight.
When the dead of night arrived, inside and outside the construction site were silent, with only the sound of insects and wind.
The wind outside was strong, and it had also become much colder.
The security guards who usually patrolled were now inside the monitoring room watching the surveillance footage.
A little after midnight, two guards saw the surveillance screens shaking, as if shadows were moving outside. They glanced at each other, not daring to make a sound or leave that place.
The guards saw those fleeting shadows and pretended not to notice, just smoking and not even daring to drink tea, afraid they might need to go out to relieve themselves.
At about two in the morning, the migrant workers and other construction crew members in the prefab houses were all resting.
Aside from being tired after a day’s work, the other reason was the fear of what was outside, so they were basically all in bed, tossing and turning even if they couldn’t sleep.
At half past two, Da Hu wasn’t sure if he had eaten something unclean, but he felt extremely uncomfortable and thought he was about to have diarrhea.
Over the past two days, with such things happening at the site, Da Hu was scared, too, afraid to get up even if he needed to go to the toilet.
But in this situation, if he didn’t get up, he feared he might soil the bed.
He had come to the site with his father, working with Cai Shifu’s construction crew. His father was sleeping on the lower bunk.
Seeing his father sound asleep, he wanted to wake him but hesitated, knowing his father was tired from a day’s work and wouldn’t be able to fall back asleep.
What should he do?
Should he just have diarrhea in the room?
There was a plastic bucket in the room, but undressing and relieving himself in it felt uncomfortable to Da Hu.
Unable to hold it any longer, he directly relieved himself into the bucket.
He realized he hadn’t even had time to take off his pants, and it had already soiled his underwear and trousers, seeing the pants and the unpleasant smell.
Da Hu changed out of them, planning to leave them in the room and wash them tomorrow. Unexpectedly, the smell became increasingly intolerable.
In this situation, he thought he wouldn’t be able to sleep either.
"I’ll just go out for a while, it should be fine!"
Da Hu wanted to rinse himself because the diarrhea had soiled his thighs.
Taking his things toward the bathroom, he found it was indeed silent outside, with not even a shadow in sight, and he didn’t hear any dogs barking.
However, with the streetlights outside on, Da Hu felt much braver in the light.
It was cold outside, and Da Hu dropped the dirty pants aside, took a hot shower, and was about to return to his room when he heard someone calling him.
"Da Hu, Da Hu."
The voice sounded familiar to Da Hu.
After listening a few more times, he realized it was Er Dan’s voice.
Originally, Er Dan, his father, and he all came from the same hometown, working with Cai Shifu’s construction crew. Unexpectedly, something had happened to Er Dan.
Of course, he recognized Er Dan’s voice.
Could it really be Er Dan?
Wasn’t that rascal Er Dan missing?
Why is he appearing now? Does he want to scare us?
Da Hu wasn’t very brave, but hearing a familiar voice made him believe it was Er Dan calling him.
Da Hu rinsed himself, threw on some clothes, and headed outside. Sure enough, he saw Er Dan a dozen meters away, waving at him.
Running towards him, Da Hu shouted, "Er Dan, where the hell did you go? Everyone’s been looking for you!"
He found that as he chased Er Dan, he wasn’t getting any closer but was instead falling further behind.
...
The next morning, Da Hu’s father, Cai Jialin, got up, ready to wash up, have breakfast, and work. To his surprise, his usually lazy son Da Hu was missing.
Could the kid have already gotten up for breakfast?
Cai Jialin didn’t notice, just putting on his old, dirt-stained clothes, since one couldn’t exactly wear clean clothes for dirty work.
He washed up outside and saw other workers but no sign of his son.
"Have you seen Da Hu?"
"Jialin, wasn’t Da Hu sleeping in the same room as you?" the coworker said.
"I didn’t see him when I got up; thought he had already left."
"I haven’t seen him."
Hearing this, Cai Jialin started to worry, fearing something had happened to Da Hu.
Setting down his toiletries, he asked other workers one by one, finding none had seen Da Hu, and he was absent from the work site too.
Cold sweat ran down Cai Jialin’s back, convinced something had indeed happened to Da Hu.
His face pale with fear, he hurried back to find the foreman, Cai Shifu, who was also looking for him after hearing Cai Jialin was searching for Da Hu everywhere.
But with no sign of Da Hu anywhere, Cai Shifu felt a kink in his heart, suspecting Da Hu had vanished mysteriously like Er Dan.
How could a full-grown man just disappear without reason?
When Cai Shifu found Cai Jialin, he asked, "Have you found Da Hu?"
"No, I suspect something’s happened to Da Hu."
"Let’s check the surveillance."
Cai Shifu and Cai Jialin went back to the surveillance area, where two guards were reviewing the footage. Hearing about another disappearance, they quickly replayed the surveillance of the prefab houses and soon saw Da Hu getting up from the upper bunk, climbing down to relieve himself, then collecting his belongings to the bathroom.
Running from the bathroom, Da Hu was seen no more.
Seeing this, Cai Jialin slumped to the ground, knowing for sure something terrible had happened to Da Hu.
"What can I do? What can I do? He’s my only son!"
On the edge of fainting, Cai Jialin nearly passed out.
