City’s Best Divine Doctor
Chapter 1171 - 1170: Calling Ye Qiu
CHAPTER 1171: CHAPTER 1170: CALLING YE QIU
Just now, Xiaomei directly called emergency services, and the medical staff came out even still wearing pajamas and threw on a coat.
Now she’s heading back to Xia Jing’s residence first because Xia Jing’s cellphone was left there and wasn’t brought along.
After discussing with her secretary, Xiaofen, Xiaomei hurriedly left the Affiliated Hospital, caught a taxi, and returned to Xia Jing’s neighborhood.
Throughout the ride, Xiaomei noticed the taxi driver’s strange glances, probably because of her odd outfit, making the driver wonder what she was up to.
"What are you looking at? I just dropped a friend at the hospital, and didn’t have time,"
Xiaomei said angrily.
The taxi driver dared not look again, for indeed, he picked up this passenger at the Affiliated Hospital’s entrance.
However, the taxi driver was puzzled, suspecting she might not have money on her.
"How are you going to pay me later?"
"Worry not, I’ll pay you,"
Xiaomei replied.
The taxi driver didn’t protest further and drove towards the neighborhood. As soon as they arrived at the gate, the security guard recognized Xiaomei as Xia’s friend.
"Security, please pay the fare. I’ll go upstairs and get it for you in a moment."
Ordinarily, these security personnel might not bother.
However, being a friend of Boss Xia, it was different.
A security guard quickly handed over some change to pay Xiaomei’s fare.
Xiaomei went into the neighborhood, took the elevator upstairs, and simply turned the door handle to enter, realizing someone had forgotten to lock it in the rush. Thankfully, this upscale community had excellent security, warding off theft concerns.
Inside, Xiaomei found Xia Jing’s private pink phone lying on the table in the master room.
Taking the phone, she looked at the saved numbers. To her surprise, she couldn’t find any numbers for Xia Jing’s parents or other relatives.
Although Xiaomei had known Xia Jing for many years, ever since Xia Jing’s first husband, she hadn’t met Xia Jing’s family members.
As for other numbers, they were all business partners and various private contacts.
In the end, she discovered a number saved under the name Dr. Ye.
Dr. Ye?
Isn’t he that young guy?
Xiaomei recalled when Xia Jing nearly needed surgery for breast cancer, hearing it was that doctor who healed her.
She knew back then it was Secretary Xiaofen who accompanied Xia Jing to the hospital, and Dr. Ye cured Xia Jing’s breast cancer.
Thus, it was natural for Xia Jing to have the young doctor’s contact saved.
If that’s the case, she might as well contact Dr. Ye to see if he could treat Xia Jing’s illness. If he could, she’d be relieved of her worries and tasks.
Thinking this, Xiaomei quickly dialed Dr. Ye’s number.
At this moment, Ye Qiu was in class. When his phone rang, he quickly silenced it to avoid disturbing other students and quietly slipped out the back door.
Seeing the number, he recognized it as Xia Jing’s.
The charming widow who brings misfortune, what could she want now?
Truthfully, Ye Qiu didn’t dislike Xia Jing, and they had no conflicts. It was Zhao Ruxue’s opinions that made him slightly repellent toward the widow.
"This is Ye Qiu."
After the call connected, Ye Qiu said.
Earlier, Xiaomei thought the other party was refusing her call, only to find him calling her back.
"Hello, Dr. Ye, I, I’m Xia Jing’s friend, Xiaomei. Xia Jing has been poisoned, very seriously, and has been sent to the Affiliated Hospital for treatment. Could you please come to see her?"
Ye Qiu recalled their encounter at the Norwegian Forest Bar and had sensed something off about Xia Jing then but dismissed it as a superstitious intimation of looming disaster. To his surprise, the situation turned out to be serious poisoning.
"When did it happen?"
"This morning, when I woke up, her face was as dark as coal,"
Xiaomei hurriedly explained.
"Wait there, I’ll head over shortly,"
Ye Qiu replied.
Without elaborating, he hung up and didn’t return to class.
Descending from the lecture hall, he headed to the male dorms, jumped into his car, and drove to the Affiliated Hospital.
...
Curiously, after calling Ye Qiu, Xiaomei felt much at ease and stopped searching for Xia Jing’s family contacts. Instead, she called Secretary Xiaofen.
"Secretary Xiaofen, it’s me, I just called Dr. Ye."
Seeing the call from Xia Jing’s number, Xiaofen initially thought it was Xia Jing but then realized it must be Xiaomei.
Dr. Ye?
Xiaofen remembered him well, recalling how Dr. Ye had saved President Xia a few times, most notably curing her breast cancer.
"Did Dr. Ye agree to treat President Xia?"
"He said he’d check up at the hospital."
"That’s good."
Upon hearing Ye Qiu’s willingness to treat President Xia, Xiaofen was relieved as well.
After finishing the call, Xiaomei changed out of her pajamas into the skirt and jacket she wore last night, freshened up, and packed her bag. Locking Xia Jing’s door, she headed downstairs to her car, drove to the security station, and handed over a hundred yuan to the security guard who had covered her fare.
The guard had paid her 100-yuan fare earlier.
"How’s Boss Xia?"
The curious head guard asked.
They had seen Xia being taken by ambulance earlier in the morning.
"She’s fine,"
Xiaomei replied simply.
Such things naturally wouldn’t be disclosed to the security.
Xiaomei drove off towards the Affiliated Hospital.
Arriving at the hospital, Ye Qiu had already parked in the external lot; as soon as he did, a guard enthusiastically assisted him with directions and opened the car door.
Ye Qiu locked the car, took his keys, and entered the hospital’s main lobby, but neither Xiaomei nor Secretary Xiaofen was in sight, so he approached the reception for inquiries.
The receptionist nurse surely recognized Ye Qiu and knew his close ties with Director Zhou.
Seeing Ye Qiu there, she assumed he either came to treat someone or to meet with Director Zhou or Head Nurse Wen Xin.
