CHAPTER 105: SOMETHING YOU CAN DO (3)

Georgia’s POV

"But... if you want me right now, we can make it happen—I can book another room and keep you up until morning."

That wicked grin of his could melt the spine of any sane woman. For a second, I froze, because earlier he swore this wasn’t just about sex for him.

My laugh came out painted with sarcasm, but judging by the way his eyes lit up, the idiot handsome man in front of me clearly missed the point. If anything, he looked more thrilled.

"Okay, Nicholas Knight... impress me. Book a room and keep me up all night," I challenged, daring him even if I knew that I would not win. But who knows? Maybe luck would be on my side tonight.

He shot up from his chair so fast I almost laughed again, fishing his phone out of his pocket like a man chasing a metered taxi. "Are you going to change, or are you fine in your pajamas?"

The heck? Why care what I’m wearing when he’s going to tear it off anyway? Still, I decided to play along.

"I’ll change. Wait for me in the elevator, I don’t want anyone seeing us leave together in case someone wakes up," I said, watching him nod before he turned to call the reception.

Slipping back into our suite, I found everyone still dead asleep. Perfect. I dug into the pile of clothes Vicky bought and picked the most inconvenient outfit I could find. A high-waisted jeans with a ridiculous amount of buttons instead of a zipper, a fitted blouse with a side zipper, and a cardigan that buttoned all the way up.

The thought of his frustration almost made me giggle out loud.

Once I was dressed, I slipped out quietly and found Nick already waiting. But instead of pressing the elevator button, he caught my hand and started leading me away.

"Where are we going?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.

"We’re using the stairs. Three floors down, it’ll give them time to prepare the room," he said, his voice low and promising.

He had a point. So, I let him lead me, our steps slow, the tension between us winding tighter with every floor we descended.

"You’re not allergic to anything, right?" Nick’s voice was casual, but something in his tone snagged my attention.

I tilted my head, frowning slightly. We’d been living off seafood, eggs, and birds back on the island without issue, and now he decides to ask? I almost teased him for it, but then I noticed the faint sheen of sweat on his forehead, the subtle tightness in his jaw. He wasn’t just making small talk... he was nervous.

But why?

"I’m good. No allergies," I said simply, deciding not to press.

His lips curved in a relieved smile. "Perfect. I ordered room service, Chinese food. They use peanut oil. We could order a different one if you don’t like it."

"Oh! Please tell me you got stir-fry noodles. I’m obsessed with those," I replied, a flicker of genuine excitement slipping through... until my brain caught up.

It’s almost midnight. He wanted sexy time. And now... food? Something wasn’t adding up. What is going on here?

"Exactly what I ordered," he said smoothly, as if reading my mind. "I love them too."

There’s something different in his tone, I just can’t pinpoint what it is.

When we reached the end of the dimly lit hallway, the answer to the mystery was waiting: three hotel staff members standing by a door. Their polite smiles carried a touch of secrecy.

"Mr. Knight, everything is already set," one of them said, the woman in front handing him a sleek keycard. "Enjoy your stay."

Nick accepted it with a nod before unlocking the door and pushing it open for me. That small, old-fashioned gesture, him letting me go first, shouldn’t have made my pulse skip. But it did.

I just like it when he is being a gentleman, which is so different from the monster he is in bed. I like both, though.

I stepped inside, taking slow, curious steps, and then I understood why he’d been so nervous.

The entire hotel room had been transformed!

A large projector screen stood at the foot of the bed. Two small tables were set on the bed, already filled with steaming bowls of food and chilled drinks. And right in the center, resting against the pillows, was a bouquet of flowers in different colors.

I froze. My chest tightened not from shock, but from the wave of warmth rushing through me. I hadn’t been expecting this. At all.

I was imagining that he would lunge at me the moment we entered the room and tear all my clothes apart. He would devour me like a predator and slam into me until I faint. Like what he always does.

But this...

This is new... I just learned something new about him tonight, a different side of him.

Nick walked over, picked up the bouquet, and turned to me with a smile caught between shyness and boyish excitement.

"I wanted to get you something better," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "But this was all they had downstairs. It’s already late, and there’s no time to find a better one. It’s our first date, and I wanted it to be perfect. I didn’t have much time to prepare... so I hope you’ll accept the flowers, and the setup."

I took the bouquet, inhaling the fresh scent, and before I could stop myself, I threw my arms around him. Hard.

His body relaxed instantly, his arms locking around me like he’d been holding his breath until this very moment.

"Thank you, Nick," I whispered. "This is perfect. And... It’s cute."

His lips curved slowly, like he couldn’t quite believe me. "Really? You think so?"

"Yes," I said, grinning. "You put this together in no time. And calling it our first date..." I gave a helpless little laugh. "It’s actually romantic."

Something in my chest fluttered wildly, and I hated how giddy I felt—like some love-struck schoolgirl.

I can’t help it. My body is reacting faster than my mind.

Gods, this is so not me. Why am I becoming like this?

"If it’s romance you want," he murmured, a spark of heat in his eyes, "I have more than enough to give."

Then he wiggled his brows in that teasing way of his, making me laugh despite the racing of my pulse.

God help me, he was annoyingly, dangerously adorable.
