Chapter 150: How to Say Goodbye
CHAPTER 150: HOW TO SAY GOODBYE
Nick pulled up in front of Pacific Manning Services, Inc., the engine purring as he parked his Aston Martin DBX707. Before Georgia could open the door, his deep voice cut in, low and teasing.
"Aren’t you going to give me a kiss?" he asked, turning his head with a sly grin.
Georgia froze mid-motion, then snapped her head toward him, eyes narrowing with a fiery glare.
"A kiss?" she scoffed, her voice dripping with disbelief. "I’m late for work because of you! My body is covered in bite and kiss marks, my legs have lost their bones, and my freaking vagina is sore as hell. And you still want a kiss? Kiss your own face, you greedy maniac!"
Nick chuckled, clearly unbothered by her outburst. As she started to climb out, he caught her wrist, tugging her back toward him. "Come on, baby... just one kiss." He tapped his lips with his finger, his eyes glinting with mischief.
Georgia gawked at him. "Your tongue was literally inside my pussy and my throat all morning! You swore it would be a quickie, but we fucked for hours over and over again. And you still want a kiss? You’re unbelievable!"
"I know," Nick admitted shamelessly, his grin widening. "And I still want it. Just one." He puckered his lips, leaning closer in exaggerated pleading.
Rolling her eyes, Georgia gave an exasperated huff. With one foot already outside the car, she leaned in for the quickest peck she could manage. But the moment her lips brushed his, Nick’s hand cupped her jaw, holding her in place as he kissed her fiercely. His mouth slanted over hers, hot and demanding, his tongue plunging inside to claim hers.
"Mmm!" she gasped against him, trying to push him back, but the kiss only deepened, leaving her weak and breathless. Heat flooded her face when she remembered the crowd outside—the stream of passersby and job applicants right by the entrance, surely stealing glances at them.
Nick finally let her go, his lips curved into a smug, satisfied smile. "Now that’s how you say goodbye."
Georgia smacked his arm, cheeks flushed, before quickly fixing her messy hair. "Pervert!" she hissed, though her lips still tingled from his kiss. With a flustered huff, she stepped out of the car, slamming the door behind her.
Nick only leaned back in his seat, laughing to himself, his eyes following her until she disappeared into the building.
Georgia felt the heat creeping onto her cheeks the moment she stepped through the entrance. She caught the stifled smiles and sideways glances from her staff and job applicants as though the entire building had already witnessed something she hadn’t intended them to see.
Of course, not everyone could keep their curiosity contained.
"Was that your new husband, ma’am?" the security guard, Josh, asked as he held the door open for her, a grin tugging at his lips.
Georgia’s spine straightened, her tone sharp and commanding even as her blush betrayed her. "No, Josh. I didn’t get married. That’s my boyfriend. If you see him again, let him in—he’ll be coming back later."
Josh chuckled softly, nodding. "Yes, ma’am. I’ll remember that."
Without missing a beat, Georgia strode straight to her office. She flicked through her emails and messages with practiced speed before calling for a quick huddle with her department heads—sales, HR, and recruitment.
"I apologize for being late," Georgia said smoothly, clearing her desk for the meeting. "Something came up."
"Something... or someone?" Jenny, the sales manager, teased with a knowing grin. Her words instantly drew giggles from Melanie in HR and Bella from recruitment.
Georgia arched a brow, but her lips twitched with a smile. "Wow. Word spreads fast, doesn’t it?"
Jenny smirked. "Well, when a car like that pulls up in front of our little agency, everyone notices. And let’s not pretend we didn’t see the door wide open. We saw everything, boss."
Melanie joined in, eyes glinting mischievously. "So the rumors weren’t just rumors after all."
Georgia tilted her head, feigning innocence as she leaned back in her chair. "Rumors? Do tell. What’s the gossip about me this time?"
Bella leaned forward with a playful grin. "That your wedding didn’t happen... because you’ve got a new boyfriend."
A slow, satisfied smile curved Georgia’s lips. "Well, that’s almost true. Just not in the right order." Her gaze sharpened, her tone both bitter and triumphant.
"Raymond cheated on me with Nancy—would you believe that? So yes, the wedding was off. And now?" She paused, her voice softening with unmistakable warmth. "Now, I have Nick."
"What? Raymond and Nancy are together? Wow, I didn’t see that one coming," Melanie said, shaking her head in disbelief.
Jenny smirked, her voice laced with mischief. "That’s alright, Georgia. If you ask me, Mr. Rebound looks way more delicious than Raymond ever did."
Georgia narrowed her eyes, though her lips tugged upward. "First of all—he is not a rebound. And second, he has a name, not Mr. Rebound. His name is Nick Knight. And since we’re on the topic... he also happens to be one of the points in today’s huddle. Nick’s going to invest in the company to help us."
The room went silent for a beat. Bella’s eyes widened as if Georgia had just dropped a bomb. "Wait... Nick Knight? As in Nicholas Knight? The son of Benjamin Knight—the maritime tycoon?"
Georgia blinked, genuinely impressed. "Wow. Someone’s very well-informed."
Bella flushed slightly but smiled. "I once dreamed of working in the Knight Group, but the competition was cutthroat. And as a recruiter, I did my research about their family."
"I see," Georgia said, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "Then I don’t need to say much more about him. But here’s what matters: he’s investing under his own name, not under the Knight Group. It’s a personal move. Later today, he’ll be coming here, and I’ll officially introduce him to everyone."
Melanie frowned, worry flickering across her face. "Georgia, are you sure? Your father and brother worked so hard to keep everything within the family. They always avoided investors—that’s why they only took loans."
Georgia’s gaze hardened, though her voice carried both determination and warmth. "I know. And it’s about time we change that if we want this company to survive. Besides, their caution served us well before. If they had let the Davises buy in, we would’ve lost this agency already."
Melanie exhaled slowly. "You’re right. I just hope Nicholas Knight isn’t like them."
Georgia’s lips curled into a confident, almost dreamy smile. "Don’t worry. My gut tells me Nick is different." Her tone softened, and her eyes flickered with the memory of his touch, his lips still lingering on hers from earlier that morning.
She straightened her shoulders, forcing herself back into her role as boss. "Now, let’s get down to the agenda so we can all get back to work."
