CHAPTER 151: SPECIAL DELIVERY

Georgia had been darting from one task to another all day, the weight of two vacant positions falling squarely on her shoulders. Her heels clicked sharply against the floor as she moved between desks, papers, and endless phone calls—her body running on sheer willpower.

Just after lunch, Oliver arrived, accompanied by the representatives from the accounting firm he had personally vouched for. They spent hours dissecting numbers, reviewing documents, and mapping out strategies.

Georgia forced her mind to stay focused, though exhaustion was tugging at her. That was when a firm knock echoed against the glass door of the meeting room.

She lifted her head, already annoyed. "Yes? What is so urgent, Josh?" she asked, her tone sharp. She had been clear with her staff earlier—no interruptions for the rest of the day unless it was Nick.

Josh shifted uneasily, scratching the back of his neck when he caught the steel in Georgia’s eyes. "Ma’am, someone’s looking for you outside."

Her brows knitted together, irritation darkening her gaze. "What did I say? Can’t you see I’m in the middle of an important meeting?"

Josh swallowed. "I know, ma’am, but... the man insists. He says he has to hand something over personally to you. A car key. He won’t accept any signatures except yours."

Georgia blinked, momentarily thrown off. "What? A signature? A car key?"

Josh nodded quickly. "Yes, ma’am. They said... they’re delivering a car. For you."

Her frown deepened, her pulse stuttering with confusion. She turned to Oliver and the accountants, her tone softening slightly. "I’m so sorry—please excuse me. I’ll deal with this quickly."

Oliver’s lips curved into a knowing smile, one that made Georgia narrow her eyes at him. "No need to apologize," he said smoothly. "In fact... I think I know exactly what’s happening. Allow me to join you."

Before she could protest, he rose from his seat and followed her out, leaving Georgia’s heart pounding in her chest. A car delivery? Keys handed only to her?

’I didn’t buy a car. Wait a minute! Did the car dealer reject my car, but they already paid me? Gosh, don’t tell me they are returning it!’ Georgia thought as she headed outside.

When Georgia stepped outside, expecting to find her old car, her breath caught in her throat. Instead, two men were guiding a truck as it unloaded a sleek Volvo XC40 in a dreamy shade of cloud blue—parked right in front of her office like a declaration carved into metal.

Her steps faltered, her pulse racing. The security guard quickly waved the man he had spoken to earlier, who strode toward her with a clipboard in hand.

"Are you Ms. Georgia Jennifer Lewis?" the representative asked with a professional tone.

Georgia’s throat went dry. "Y-Yes... What is this? Why are you unloading that car here?"

Behind her, Oliver’s low chuckle reached her ears, rich with amusement. "Oh boy," he drawled, folding his arms as though watching a scene unfold he had already guessed the ending of.

The man extended the car keys toward her. The metal glinted under the sunlight, taunting her. "This is for you, madam. Kindly sign here."

Her brows shot up, eyes wide. "Wait—explain this to me properly. I did not order a car from your company. From any company, for that matter!"

The man calmly flipped the papers, tapping a section with his finger. "Here, madam. As you can see, this vehicle was purchased under the name of Mr. Nicholas Knight. He instructed us to deliver it directly to this address and to hand the keys over to you personally. All we need is your signature."

Georgia’s jaw dropped. Heat rushed to her face, her hands trembling as disbelief tangled with an undeniable flutter in her chest. ’Nick bought me a car? That pervert totally lost his mind!’

She whipped her gaze toward Oliver, who was openly laughing now, clearly savoring her flustered reaction. "This is insane!" she blurted, nearly dropping her phone as she fumbled to unlock it.

She turned back to the delivery guy. "Hold that for me—I need to call the buyer before I completely lose my mind!"

The call barely rang twice before Nick’s smooth, teasing voice poured through the line. [Hi, baby. Missed me already?]

Georgia’s temper flared, her grip tightening on her phone. "Are you insane?! Why on earth did you buy this car?"

Unbothered, Nick’s voice lowered into a deliciously smug drawl. [Oh? You don’t like the cloud blue? There were only two colors available for immediate delivery—the other was sage green. I figured cloud blue would look perfect on you.]

Georgia pressed a hand to her temple, exasperated yet flushed. "I’m not talking about the damn color, Nick. I’m asking why you bought me a car at all."

His chuckle hummed through the speaker, dark and self-satisfied. [Because you sold yours yesterday, baby. You don’t have a car anymore, so I got you one. Simple.]

Her chest tightened, her heart battling between outrage and the dangerous thrill that always came with him. "This is ridiculous! It’s a waste of money. I don’t need you buying me this, Nick. I can commute just fine. I’m sending it back—this car is way too expensive as well!"

He sighed, but his voice softened into something velvety, coaxing. [No, babe. Believe me, this one’s cheaper than the one I really wanted for you. I picked it because I knew you’d refuse the pricier ones. Besides, the others would’ve taken weeks to ship. This one was ready today. Please don’t reject it... you’ll break my heart if you do.]

Georgia squeezed her eyes shut, already picturing his face—those dark eyes pretending to be wounded, that mouth curved into a pout she secretly adored. A helpless sigh escaped her lips. He knew exactly how to disarm her. "We will talk about this later. Do you hear me, Nick?" she snapped, though the warmth in her cheeks betrayed her resolve.

On the other end, Nick’s smile was audible, warm, and infuriatingly cocky. [Sure, baby. I’ll wrap things up here and be there in an hour or two. Try not to miss me too much. Bye, babe.]

Georgia let out another long sigh before finally accepting the keys and clipboard from the delivery guy. Her fingers trembled slightly as she scribbled her name on the form, the weight of the gesture far heavier than a simple signature.

From behind her, Oliver’s low chuckle broke the tension. "Looks like my best friend won this round, huh?"

She shot him a glare, though her cheeks betrayed her with a flush of heat. "Your best friend is insane, Ollie. I honestly don’t know how you tolerate him."

Oliver only smirked, folding his arms across his chest as he watched the car gleam under the sun, being carefully lowered from the truck. "What can I say? The guy’s hopelessly in love."

His words landed harder than she expected, sparking something dangerous and thrilling inside her. Georgia froze, the pen slipping slightly from her grip.

’In love?’ Georgia thought. ’We’ve only known each other for a while, and he didn’t really say that he loves me out loud. Is it possible for him to love me this early in our relationship,’ she asked herself.

The thought made her heart hammer, her breath shallow. The idea of Nick, that commanding, relentless guy, being in love with her, sent a shiver straight down her spine.
