CHAPTER 295: FASTER THAN YOU THINK

Georgia’s POV

I pushed open the door to Nick’s office as he carried me inside, still refusing to let me walk on my own. His office was exactly what I expected—modern, sleek, and minimalist, with just enough décor to make it feel warm instead of boring. It had him written all over it—organized, calm, and a little intimidating.

But the moment he set me down on the sofa, my gaze caught something on the wall opposite his desk—and my jaw dropped.

"What the hell?" I blurted out, half laughing, half shocked. "Are you obsessed with me or something? Where did you even get those pictures?"

Right there on the wall was a massive photo collage of us—four beautifully framed moments frozen in time. The first was from the island, the day we were supposed to be married by the shore. The second, from the ball, moments before he proposed.

The third was him kneeling in front of me that same night, proposing. And the last, me, smiling inside Prudence’s greenhouse, sunlight catching the flowers around me. All of them were stolen shots—and all perfectly timed.

Nick chuckled as well. "The one from the island and in mom’s home were taken by Vicky," Nick said as he came to stand beside me, completely unfazed by my disbelief. "I must say, my sister is quite good at taking pictures. I had it edited to fix the lighting and blur the background a bit. The ball photos were from a professional photographer I hired."

I pressed my lips together, torn between amusement and awe. "I can’t decide if I should be impressed or creeped out. That frame is huge, Nick. You could’ve at least printed smaller ones for your desk."

He chuckled, a low, easy sound that made my chest feel light. "Not gonna happen. When work gets rough, I like looking at us—at you. It reminds me why I’m doing all this in the first place. I’m building our future."

That made my heart melt in an instant. I looked up at him, a soft smile tugging at my lips. "What did I ever do to deserve you?" I said quietly, genuinely touched.

But of course, this was Nick—the man who could never let a moment stay innocent for too long.

He tilted his head, that wicked smirk curving his lips. "Careful with the compliments, baby. Say a few more, and you won’t be walking for a week. Because right now, I’m trying very hard not to lay you down on that sofa, fuck you, and make all my daydreams happen."

My jaw fell open, and I smacked his arm playfully. "You pervert!"

He only laughed, didn’t even dodge my attack. "Stay here," he said, leaning down to kiss the top of my head. "I’ll just change, and then we’ll go home."

He disappeared through a side door—probably the bathroom. I glanced around, frowning slightly. He hadn’t grabbed any clothes from the cabinets or drawers.

Maybe he keeps a set in there, I thought, shaking my head with a smile. Knowing Nick, he was always one step ahead—especially when it came to moments like this.

I took a deep breath and slowly stood up, relieved that my knees had finally stopped trembling. I walked toward the mirror, smoothing my hair and fixing the light smudge in my makeup. My blouse was a little wrinkled, so I patted it down, doing my best to look somewhat composed.

Feeling a little steadier, I wandered around his office, my steps light on the polished floor until I reached his desk. I perched myself carefully on the edge and noticed two small picture frames sitting beside his laptop.

It was a copy of the family photo I’d seen in his penthouse—Nick with his parents and Vicky, all smiling. Next to it was another frame... one of me and Katie when she was just a baby.

A smile crept across my face as I picked it up. I know this picture. There’s no way I gave it to him. He must’ve stolen it from my house. The thought made me shake my head, amused and a little flustered all at once.

Just then, the door opened. Startled, I quickly placed the frame back where it belonged and turned around.

Nick walked out, looking far too good for someone who’d just changed clothes—black pants, navy blue shirt, sleeves rolled just enough to reveal those strong forearms. He rested his hands on his waist and clicked his tongue with mock disapproval.

"Tsk, tsk. I shouldn’t have let you in here," he said.

I frowned, pretending to look offended. "What? I didn’t do anything. I was just looking at the pictures! You shouldn’t have displayed them if you didn’t want me to see them."

He smiled, one of those slow, knowing smiles that always spelled trouble and sauntered closer until he stood right in front of me. Then, placing his hands on the desk on either side of me, he leaned in just enough for his scent to completely cloud my thoughts.

"Not the pictures, baby," he murmured. "It’s you sitting on my desk like that... tempting me to do things I shouldn’t. You know this has been one of my fantasies."

My eyes widened, and I immediately pushed at his chest. "Nick! You seriously need to see a doctor. Your mind has gone full-on pervert! It’s off the charts!" I said between laughter as I slipped off the desk.

He grinned, cornering me again effortlessly. "Then stop being so damn cute and stop seducing me every second you’re with me."

"Excuse me?" I raised a brow, trying to sound offended but failing miserably as I laughed. "I don’t think I need to seduce you. This..."—I boldly reached down and gave his ding dong a quick squeeze, just to prove my point—"...clearly doesn’t need convincing. It reacts faster than you think," I said, giggling when it instantly turned hard.

He froze in surprise, and I burst out laughing, darting away before he could react.

"Georgia!" he shouted, his voice echoing with both amusement and warning. "You’re going to regret doing this!"

Still laughing, I grabbed my bag from the sofa and dashed toward the door, calling back over my shoulder, "Not if I run fast enough!"

And the sound of his playful growl followed me all the way out of the hall as I ran towards the elevator where the bodyguards were, planning to use them as my shield.
